Event 7: BoyleSports World Grand Prix

Slightly different darting format with this being a double in - double out tournament. Match averages are lowered to 92.5 to reflect the difficulty involved in starting on a double. Research was done on previous editions of this event, and that was the target score that was deemed a good point for reward.

I've included only the first round starting teams in this post, and the following days will run quite similar to previous events. I'm simplifying it so that should we lose a block of players at a certain stage of a tournament, I'm not having to answer questions about where to next. I will adjust accordingly for future trading periods.

Tournament begins next Tuesday morning 0500hrs, and will run each morning until the conclusion of the final on the following Monday.

Trading periods will be:
-After play concludes on Wednesday morning, ahead of Thursday.
-After play concludes on Friday morning, ahead of Saturday.
Will do my best to have the team guidelines up by lunchtime.

Haven't been up to speed recently, can you dumb it down for me regarding the double in double out part, as I have no idea.

Instead of starting the leg by throwing at any segment of the board, a player must start the leg by hitting a double.

For example:
Player X
VS
Player Y

Player X missed the first dart at double twenty for no score, second dart the player misses inside for a single twenty (no score) and third dart they miss double twenty again. They are still on 501 and need to hit a double when they return to the board. Player Y aims for double 16. First dart misses, second dart is in the double sixteen bed (32 scored) and third dart is aimed at the twenty and hits a single twenty. Player Y has scored 52 and now is on 449. Player X returns to the board for his three darts. First dart he hits double twenty and can now start aiming at the trebles.

Thanks for that, made it clearer for me.

Have there been many 9 darters in this format? I initially thought it would take a minimum of 10 until I realised you could finish with a bull rather than D20. Guessing not too many.

You can finish a nine darter under this format on D20 but would require hitting the bullseye to open the leg.
For example:
Bull, T20, T20, T20, T20, T17, T20, T20, D20

Cannot recall any players aiming for this to start a leg but for some reason I seem to think Peter Wright did after he had missed his first three darts (or six) at double with his opponent already far ahead, against the throw.
