Well… shoot. Early shower for me
I don’t you are the first that’s happened to incredibly.

It does highlight that with 3 choices sometimes it has to be considered to play the hedge out, just to get someone through a match and into the semis.

Kind of 6 of 1, half dozen the other though, as majority of the time you would get 2 through to the semis with this approach.

Wanted Smith, tbh… but also wanted to be a bit unique as I feel a few had Price, MVG and Smith.

All fun! Scores will reset for 2023 soon and I’ll be better for the run. 😂.

6/6 winners, equal lowest scorer in my side as captain and took out Rock for Soutar but still topped RD2.:cool:

Would love to pick Soutar as I hope he progresses to the Semis, but I think it is best to stay with my starting selections of:
M Van Gerwen (C)
G Price
R Van Barneveld

Ensures at least one semi finalist from the top half of the draw. Very tempted to captain Barney but will play it safe.
Boring, boring, boring. :ROFLMAO:

GRAND SLAM OF DARTS FINAL RESULTS

The monkey is off the back of the "Bully Boy" Michael Smith as he claims his first TV major with a 16-5 victory over Nathan Aspinall. Earlier in the day both advanced to the final after 16-12 victories over Raymond van Barneveld and Luke Humphries, but it was Smith who capitalised, taking an early lead in the final and racing away to collect the Eric Bristow trophy.

Professor the biggest mover up the table thanks to Smith's win, closing to within 2 points of Connoisseur, with Rowsus hot on their heels.
As alluded to on Thursday, the Players Championship beings Friday evening with lockout at 2030hrs.

Highlighting a few players to keep an eye on for the upcoming Players Championship:

Mervyn King:
Last 3 Players Championships:
2019= Quarter-Finalist (39th seed)
2020= Runner Up (44th seed)
2021= 1st Round Exit (32nd seed)

Searle the runner up from the last staging of this event. 4-3 record against King over the match length of 11 legs with 4 of the last 5 going the distance (11 legs). On the contrary, this season is his lowest win/loss ratio of his career (52.08% = 50W/46L) and his annual average of 91.45 is below the tour average of 92.37. The previous three years it has been above the tour average by at least 1.5.

Raymond Van Barneveld:

The five time champion of the world rolled back the clock at the Grand Slam for a deep run to the Semi Finals with some clinical finishing and power scoring. If not for a first 9 average of 120+ from Michael Smith in the Semi, RVB could have had the opportunity to be a two time Grand Slam champion to complete the fairytale.

Cullen, Chisnall, Humphries and De Sousa are all in the same quarter of the draw as Barney but given the match length, all face difficulties progressing through their quarter contending with the likes of Rowby-John, Rafferty, Williams and Soutar. Short match length will favour Barney and if he is off to a fast start and continues his form from the Grand Slam, he could go on another deep run.

Scott Williams:
Only the third player to have won a Players Championship event without holding a tour card and involved defeating Clayton, Cross, Henderson, Dobey and then Aspinall in the final. Topped the Challenge Tour Order Of Merit and appeared at the Grand Slam with a win over Searle. Could be a nice differential considering those likely to opt for Soutar.

My boy. Hadn’t seen him before the Grand Slam. Picked him because we had to pick 3 greens. Natural thrower, can hit 180s and can score. Like him a lot.
Beat Searle in a pearler of a match in Group match 3, worth watching.

Sets up for a good match with the in form Soutar.

Not a specific player but a group of players. A Gilding, R Evans, A Lewis and K Barry in Section 1 of the draw and in the same half as the Number 1 seed in Damon Heta.

Keane’s last televised appearance was a Semi Final run in the UK Open, Lewis won his first title this year (Players Championship Event) in three years and hopefully can get back to his best on the big stage a la Barney and then add in the two cult figures of Gilding and Evans and we have three quality matches in store to decide who will make it to third round to possibly face Heta.

Chris Dobey:

Did not qualify for the Grand Slam but has been in fine form in his previous two tournaments, making it to the Semi Finals of the European Championship and the Quarter Finals of the Grand Prix. Has a nice section of the draw with a best case scenario being the possibility of a Semi Final.
