No Jhye a big mistake this round. Mistakes happen I guess. So annoying he was going to be close to our first picked this week, but got scared off by an injury which had no noticeable impact on him. Going to be hard to make up that ground, but our team is scoring well enough to place very highly. We will catch back up over time as those who moved ahead by picking Jhye cop their own bad selections.

Current team (trying a screenshot stitching program here on my phone that was suggested I try, seems to work OK):

I would take 89 over Rashid or Short. Personally I would do it every time without hesitation.
I would take Agar's score
Thought so too, just thought I'd check. Thanks.

Looking at some of these Jhye C scores, we'll probably be a bit further back than I thought. Next round will be our round!

Agar probably becomes the "boost" trade to build the bank and get the desired Heat

Agar - > Naveed (head start for Round 5)
Farooqi - > Heat eg Steketee
Green - > Heat eg Swepson
Hales - > Heat

Flow on effect is the 3 Heat then get traded to 3 x MR/SS for Round 4
I thought Agar looked pretty average tonight (both bowling and batting), but one thing I’m weighing up for my side is that he loops nicely with Connolly, and Perth play a lot of late games. I’m certainly not averse to trading him, for my side or our combined one, but it’s something to put in the mix.

On the flip side, Perth have what I think is a very easy run coming up. I think that’s actually bad for Agar given he will usually bowl 4, but bat more often against stronger sides:

Stars
Strikers
Stars
Renegades
Thunder
Heat
Heat

Based on my preseason take, that would be 6 of the next 7 against bottom 4 teams. Maybe those views need some revising, but it looks a soft draw for the Scorchers (possibly suboptimal for Agar) to me.

How do we feel about Webster as a possible option?

- Excellent role so far. Beneficiary of Stoinis not bowling (temporary?) but also Burns’ injury (long term?).

- 73 and 43 in R1

- BE of -34

- Can play, averaged 50 from 14 games in 2019-20

- Reportedly good domestic form (inc bowling more, spin and pace)

- Allows us to free up significant cash from a Green type, or to exit a Gilkes type without requiring much cash

I have Agar in my own side and wasn't planning to trade him out but now might need to (for cash reasons).

Think with the combined side we are already digging a hole for ourselves.

Thought their would be a lot more contributions from a heap of people but doesn't seem to be the case which is dissapointing.

Not sure Farooqi , Green , Hales get the 3 desired Heat (no idea who they even are) we want in Round 3.

Just tossed up Agar's name with a high BE as a way to get some cash going.

Certainly don't have to use a Boost this round , but hopefully the 3 Heat players we trade in get the 3 MR/SS players for Round 4.

I am guessing (assuming) that we will be trading out Rashid & Short in Round 5 so that 3rd player to trade out could be Agar , Inglis , Shadab , Stoinis , Tye , Zampa.

Maybe my own thoughts for my own team are coming across to much for the combined team.

It would be great to get a broader range of views involved … if anyone is lurking, please speak up! 😊

I think it’s natural to somewhat mimic our own side’s plans for our combined side. It can still work well, unless they’re in wildly different positions (which seems unlikely just yet) or are consciously adopting very different strategies (also unlikely yet).

I just had another look, and I don’t think we are in bad shape. The only names I wouldn’t be happy to have in my side in a fortnight or so would be one of Gilkes/Handscomb (one is okay for a cheap WK2 or loop), Green and possibly Farooqi (although I’ve seen people talk about him as a long term hold!). That’s pretty good going for a DGR heavy side thy didn’t have the strongest DGR teams to select from (largely Thunder, Strikers and Stars to start). I think the bones are good.

You’re right in that we probably do want to get some more cash gen going, and to build for future doubles. It’s only really Abbott that looks hard to reach without sacrificing a top gun though (which I agree is fine to do - I’d rather 2x Abbott than 1x Rashid, for example). KRicho is 179k and falling, Steketee is 174k and then there are guys that are c. 160k and below.

We might need to play the BE game for a bit, and maybe punt on a cheapie as our fourth in this round, but if we play our cards right, Hosein could have good value to trade out after R5, and we could get guys like Philippe, Dwarsh, DC, Mujeeb and maybe Swepson at prices that allow them to be cheap keepers or cash cows while we hold them.

Maybe if we did a poll of the top, say, 5 DGR trade-in priorities across the R3/R5 doubles (given Heat crowd out Renegades and vice versa) and the top cash cows, and go from there? Maybe we give c. 10-12 options and ask people to pick 5, and then work around those?

I anticipate that I’d definitely be voting for Philippe, say, but that would be to get him in R4 or 5 when he’s cheaper. If we know he’s a priority though, we can order the trades based on fixture/price/BE.

Webster is one I looked at as a trade in last time to fill the last batting spot, but due to the bye, went for Shadab instead. I don't mind the pick.

It would be good to get more people contributing, but it doesn't seem to be happening. I'll do the best I can with any contributions that we do get - I actually prefer having more differing opinions, but even people agreeing with ideas already posted helps out.

I’ve just deleted the poll, so if @Ironhawk or another non LG member is able to try to create a poll (even a dummy one with just a couple of options is fine), that could be handy to confirm that that’s possible.
Can you possibly post a screenshot showing where the create poll option is located (if this doesn't have mod sensitive info) or at least describe it? I don't see anywhere I can create it. If it is below the page options at the top, "Watch" is the only one there.

OK, just adding my two cents:

My top four Brisbane targets: Neser, Renshaw, Munro, Steketee. Not necessarily in that order, but I like two bats and two bowlers if we're going 4 as it covers all match scenarios.

Of those, I'm not sure I view any as bankable SGR keepers, so they are good options to flip immediately. Maybe Renshaw could be kept if he's getting overs, one to monitor.

Personally I don't rate Swepson at all in this format, historically has not been a wicket taker and a relatively defensive option. Chance this changes with a more consistent batting lineup giving him more to defend but I can't take him over any of the other options on exposed form.

Webster looks a good cash cow option, but need to see Stars team, his role changes drastically if a fifth bowler is named (or even if Stoinis has recovered). Dooley perhaps now also an option after last night!

Bazley appears to have continued his progression from last year, not sure what's wrong with Bartlett, appears out of favour to me.
Don't mind Bazley.

Too many people getting into Bartlett's head (just like Agar , Doggett , Meredith , Stanlake) just let them bowl , give me 24 balls of pace , pace and more pace.
