With regards to the final trade, we will need to either go with Webster or another BAT option. Trading him will leave us with Short, Khan, Neser, Stoinis as the only playing BAT options. Even if we traded Hales out instead of Gilkes, it might give us a bit extra cash to spend ($155,900), but it would still need to be a BAT option. Hardie (BE -41) is about the only one I'd consider, and I think I'd prefer the Hales/Webster (BE -35) combo to Gilkes/Hardie.

Currently we are on 1/338 from 4 SI or 1/411 (Steketee) from 5 SI if we lock in Steketee as VC. With nobody else to come having a double, and Steketee with another game to play, I suggest locking in the VC, meaning we are on 1/411, with 10 SI to go. Swepson was a bit disappointing in last night's match, but our other 3 were great options. We'll wait and see after his second match if we would have been better off with the second cash cow option, but it wasn't a terrible call.

I've already made the decision we will be looping on Hosein, and I highly doubt anyone disagrees. This means we need to bench one of our 3 bowlers yet to play - Rashid, Tye or Zampa. Rashid plays the Heat at the Gabba and he has an average of 112.5 from 4 games there, with a low of 64 - those numbers suggest we have him on field. As previously mentioned, the Scorchers v Stars game is at Junction Oval, which is quite a small ground and has previously been batting friendly. I'd suggest benching one of the two from this game - I would expect it is easier to hit a spinner for 6, which is why I had Zampa as the bench option, but this needs to be confirmed.

Good start to the round, hopefully we can keep it going.

No way to loop Shadab. :(

I thought predictions were the match should avoid most of the rain, guess we'll see. Can't always rely on forecasts. I see the toss has been delayed, hopefully that's all.
Just checked, I think you’re right.

The only exception could be some sort of trade update, but we’d need to weigh that up.

Maybe switch Stoin and Shadab to preserve the option, and if Shadab goes super low we can assess.

5 playing bats , Hales & Sams both on Bye.

The only DPP we have on bowl line is Connolly

Not sure what the 4 trades ended up being

Maybe Shadab (E)

Then allows Agar to come back in for Sams if necessary

Does anyone know what the 4 confirmed trades were ?

Can make Shadab E, but don't think we can do anything about it. We have 5 playing batters total, and no way to switch anyone in.

Edit: spoke too soon, was planning to make him E straight after posting, forgot about the 7:15 lockout.

How we are doing after tonight's match:

View attachment 50334

2/479 from 6 SI @ 79.83 so far. 10 SI to come.
Nice!!

Who do we want to put in the poll? We can name 9 Renegades/Sixers (with one spot for Other).

The obvious ones seem to be KRicho, Rogers, Mujeeb, Abbott, Philippe and Kerr. We can add 3 more.

Might pay to include their new BE as well.

Maybe Finch & Maddinson.

Guptill's BE won't matter

Henriques or Vince of any interest ? Jordan maybe

Time to start thinking about Rd 4 trade targets, now we have a bit more info on the two teams with the Rd 5 double.

Based on the tables that Tails provides, I've listed potential targets here - any averaging 40+, plus a few other notables. Price and BE will be approximately right.

Rogers: Av 70, BE 11, $171,100
Maddinson: Av 58, BE 122, $172,900
Finch: Av 50, BE -6, $140,700
Mujeeb: Av 34, BE 22, $102,900
Richardson: Av 30, BE 79, $148,000

Kerr: Av 69, BE -25, $164,200
Abbott: Av 53, BE 120, $192,800
Silk: Av 52, BE 25, $120,700
Philippe: Av 40, BE 45, $139,000
Naveed: Av 64, BE -19, $108,000 (From 2 matches)

Bird and Murphy also qualify as a 40+ average, but have only played once each.

From BE and average, Rogers, Finch and Kerr appear the priorities (if we want them). Naveed would be too, but him missing tonight is a big concern - I thought Murphy was quite good as his replacement. Just need to work out how to afford them - we will need to see how our Heat players go tomorrow.

Maybe a different way to do it, but should we do a poll about which 3 players to trade out? That will at least give us an idea of budget and that might help shape priorities. We spent a fair bit of time debating the outs last round, and it’s hard to lock in the best trade ins when we don’t know the budget etc.

If we lock in the 3 outs, set the budget, and then we can work on combinations from there. Might also throw up some obvious ones in terms of field positions (keepers etc).

Our messages overlapped a bit (I type slow). I did list the 10 I thought were the most likely targets, but Herbie has mentioned a few I didn't include who are definite possibilities. Guptill I could definitely see going well, Henriques and Vince are out of form but could go alright, Jordan burned me previously, but others may rate him more.

Happy to hear other's thoughts on who to choose.

Based on BE's only

Round 5 looks like :-

Philippe 45 , Richardson 75 & Abbott 120

Hopefully Hosein does get DPP so we have 2 Bowl spots left

Agree totally that we need to know who we are going to trade OUT in Round 4 and what budget we have , no use picking players to trade in if we can't afford them.

Fortunately Jordan , Naveed & Mujeeb are relatively cheap.

I don't have Rogers on my radar (can see the appeal) and Kerr with DPP looks a must have trade in for Round 4.

Just went through my own side looking at Round 4 & 5 and ranked them in various categories , so based on our current side I see them like this :-

DGR 5 (1)

Hosein

Definite trade outs (4)

Rashid Khan (Bye in Round 5)
Steketee - Trade out Round 4
Swepson - Trade out Round 4
Tye

Possible Trade out options (6)

Hales
Inglis
Neser
Stoinis (low value)
Webster (low value)
Zampa

Hold if possible (3)

Sams
Shadab Khan (Round 5 Bye)
Short (Round 5 Bye)

Useless to trade (2)

Connolly
Handscomb
Produced this earlier today , might be useful in determining who we can trade out in Round 4 & 5.

Some good suggestions above. Two games tomorrow before R4 starts, do we do the ins tomorrow and the outs on Saturday, eg? Or vice versa?

I feel like the outs will generally be from a fairly clear pool straight after a DGR. Most of the Heat will go, although @Herbie66 broader list of outs is good to consider for similar BE reasons to our ins.

I’m a bit conflicted, on the one hand it would be good to know the 6 guys we want to target, but then if we can’t find the coin we could end up going around in circles.

I agree with Herbie's list in terms of must trade, could trade, etc.

Maybe it's as simple as playing the BE game.. try and match the highest BE outs to the lowest BE ins? Could weaken as a tad for the round 4 SGR but lets not get stuck chasing perfection!

Rd 4 starts 3:30 PM on Saturday.

I do have some family Christmas stuff planned on Saturday, so this time is not ideal for me. It'd be good if we can have a fair idea tomorrow night what we'll be doing.

Personally, I see no reason to hold any of our Heat players, and I also don't think it's a great round to boost, so trade outs seem fairly easy to me. I agree that BE's will also play a part, and that we may be better off trading Rashid over Neser for example, but we won't know this until after tomorrow's matches (today's actually, it's just passed midnight). If this doesn't get us enough cash for three suitable trade ins, I'd be surprised, but I'm sure we can sort out something suitable easily enough.

Steketee should get Kerr
Bank + Swepson should get Jordan , Mujeeb or Naveed for example

3rd or 4th then simply comes down to who we are prepared to trade (most likely Tye BE 33 or Rashid BE 88) out to who we trade in.

I agree I don’t think we need to boost this round.
In terms on trade ins, I think we prioritise Mujeeb, Kerr and Philippe.

Mujeeb - playing at BA I think he could score on and a low BE means it’s good timing.
Kerr - negative BE, get him while we can in case he pops again and becomes too expensive.
Philippe - ~45 BE, likely to hover at the same value but is a lock in terms in players we’d want so means we have that one out of the way.

I’d put forward:

Steketee to Kerr
Swepson to Mujeeb
Tye or Rashid to Philippe

Assuming DPP swings make that possible..

Abbott and KRicho have high enough BEs to wait a week to get both. Means we have longer to debate the 6 (or boosted 7th players.
