Even I knew Wade was a chance to lose, but thought he might be a POD. He was, just not a good one. Only person to lose a top 8 seed to this point.

In better news for North American darts, Jeff Smith holds onto his tour card with Menzies, Van Trijp and Cameron all unsuccessful in their second round matches.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS DAY 9 RESULTS

Phase 1 complete. A fair bit of my focus is on the BBL until lockout. Once the game starts I will finish off the google form, spend some time picking my squad, and post up the form for you guys. Expect it later in the evening so plan on using it tomorrow. We aren't in that much of a rush. 3 clear days before they throw again.

Some great scores. Loved the differential team Thahn picked. Jay Sea was really solid. Well done to those that nailed Alan Soutar too. For losing Wade, and taking on Rock with captaincy, Ironhawk did really well too.

We probably didn't see enough seeds beaten to see the real swings in final team scoring that the lower ranked players had the opportunity to provide.

Really does seem like the tournament is really well positioned when you do get 29 seeds through. I personally would have liked a bit more variety for unpredictability, but we should see some high quality matches straight away in round 3.
