Nothing official but I would say Bailey Williams.

Allen is way too valuable to be risked in the ruck, he will be our main key fwd for the next decade.
Hey Shannon, Elijah Hewett looks like a good player, what do you think his chances are of an early debut?

Real chance pending form in preseason games & injuries. I think he will start his AFL career at half fwd with stints in midfield. When playing fwd at lower levels he has looked dangerous & has an eye for goal.
Essentially Hewett is the offensive minded mid whilst Ginbey is the more defensive minded so they compliment each other well.
Going to be an interesting watch to see which way the coaches go, personally I want a real injection of youth & speed that we obviously need.

Don't think you should pick a player at that kind of price for their R/F status. At that price they need to be a pick on their merits. The R/F comes as a bonus if they fit into your team. At the moment I have him in my fwd line because he looks like a #1 ruck and that should mean he scores enough to be a fwd keeper. If it turns out he won't be #1 ruck then I would probably replace him. I would not have him as a starter on the ruck line.

The purpose of starting him in the ruck is so you can swing him forward later whilst the best rucks become apparent. Trying to set and forget with two rucks will prove difficult this year, it’s pretty wide open so I’d rather only lock one pick in

That's a fair call, if you intend to do the swing and as long as you can fund it.

THE STRIKING DIFFERENCE SIMPSON EXPECTS IN EAGLES’ ROUND 1 TEAM

BY SEB MOTTRAM 2 HOURS AGO

West Coast faces a tough ask to drag itself out of the bottom four in 2023, but Adam Simpson anticipates he’ll try do it with an almost completely revitalised side.

The Eagles have been tipped for a lengthy rebuild under Simpson given the club’s list profile and the disaster that was the 2022 season. But a minimal injury list combined with a new wave of draft prospects have Simpson predicting a new-look outfit when West Coast takes to the field against North Melbourne in Round 1 on March 18.

“It’s exciting, you chuck in (Oscar) Allen, (Tom) Cole, (Dom) Sheed, those type of players who didn’t play at all last year,” Simpson began on SEN WA Breakfast.

The last game we played wasn’t a memorable one down in Geelong, no disrespect to those players who played in that game, we tried our best, but I reckon there’s probably 13 players or 14 players who won’t be in the Round 1 side for different reasons.

“So we’re looking at turning over the list, bringing in some kids and playing some youth and hopefully getting some senior players back that are healthy.

It’ll be a completely different looking side, albeit we’ll still need our leaders to stand up and play well for us, that’s where it starts.”

Allen, Cole, Sheed, Jeremy McGovern, Andrew Gaff and Nic Naitanui were just six of the many Eagles who were missing from the club’s best 22 in the Round 23 game against Geelong.

The club also recruited ex-Demon Jayden Hunt in the trade period but lost Junior Rioli.

Very interesting comments by Simmo
