Kelly vs Green is one of my current selecion decisions. Kelly done 115+ before , Green massive potential whom should now be given the job as starting inside mid but had a ordinary finish to last season. Which gives me concerns about his engine lasting full season.?

Kelly Just at this point in time, should se a slight increase this season.

What do you think Jackson can average this year Neil? won't he basically have the same role as he did with Maxy?
I reckon if Fyfe is looking good to go round 1 I might punt Yeo for Jones or a rookie and get him in, it'll be hard if Yeo is looking good too though haha. I checked my byes, first 2 rounds I'm fine , the last 2 missing about 3 in each game to score 18 so not too bad.
36 trades this year, I went pretty aggressive early last season hence got off to a bit of a flyer and had a decent year for a change lol. Still don't want to run out though.
Hi Russty I opted for Rozee instead of jacko but early days reckon jacko goes 95 if he gets 50/50 geez it's hard mate but what i f up each year is the right 12 prems and trades of course

Slightly different team to most perhaps

B: Sinclair, Doucherty, Daicos, Yeo, Ginbey, McKenna (Weddle, Wilmot)
M: Oliver, Miller, Steele, LDU, C.Warner, Ashcroft, Phillips, Johnson (Blackely, Chesser, Drury)
R: Witts, Grundy (Heath)
F: Dunkley, Gulden, D.Cameron, McLean, Berry, Sinn (Greene, Richards)

Trying to find a POD that makes sense.

B: Sinclair only in 10% and Docherty (14%) of teams versus Sicily (22%), Stewart (43%) and Dawson (27%) who seem the main go to premiums down back.

M: Rolling the dice a little with 3 uber premiums and then LDU and Warner to go to another level despite both breaking out last year. Tempted a little to go Anderson over Warner as he finished last season stronger. But already have Miller.

R: Witts in just 9% of teams. English (30%) and Marshall (42%) the most common. Grundy in 17% now so not as good a POD since Gawn went down but still worth starting, I think.

F: Going with Cameron forward with Heath as a link. Ruckman very injury prone so nice loophole. Also perhaps Heath gets games with the two other R/F players injured along with King. Can see Marshall playing a lot forward and hence will stay clear. Also going Gulden as a breakout player instead of the usual options i see in Taranto (51%) or Rozee (33%). As of now haven't gone Fyfe; literally think he will sit deep forward and hence probably won't be a keeper. Could be wrong but Freo have so much midfield depth they could afford to do that (if he even stays fit).

Thoughts?

$9,400 left

Looking to minimize on field rookies/sub risks and looking for value where it presents itself. Probably will be quite different to the round one team. Would prefer LDU to Mitchell in the $520k to $560k to range plus his final bye could present an opportunity to trade around to a top premium, cost does not permit this as of now. Would also like to get Macrae in if the opportunity presents itself, and no Stewart could be a mistake.

Leaving this here so I can come back and see where everything went wrong later.

Still a fan of the shallow backline, think the rookies will be more plentiful there than then FWDs which look pretty grim to me.
It's Will Gould's year this time round, I'm sure of it.

Have had Doch for a bit now, but not sure how the news of a mid role works out SC wise. Had good scoring late last year but a very small sample size with a few important players missing from the rotation.
Dawson my favourite of the 600k defs, don't think I've even considered a team without him.
Have always been a big Yeo fan, recent reports are all sounding positive.

Oliver is just too good, basically a premo since his second season, 3 120+ seasons in a row, don't wanna bet against him, that fixture from round 4-9 too, wow.
Massive on the 2 dogs boys, think Bont doesn't get shifted Fwd as often anymore with the new additions, and don't think Macrae will get trapped on the wing with Dunkley gone.
Backing Steele to bounce back, hopefully Ross Lyon lets him play like his old favourite and current assistant coach Lenny.

Think it's pretty stock standard in the rucks. Not much to say.

Gone deep in the fwds, think all 4 options have pretty obvious upside, and early days but the rookies on this line don't inspire me at all.
Dunkley's a freebie, a 600k bloke being the #1 % owned player is pretty wild, usually it's some cheapy that takes that mantle.
Cogs after Leon was just so much better, figure he'll be #2 behind Green in the giants midfield.
Rozee late last year was just super impressive, can't see why they would take that role off him, don't wanna miss this one.
Taranto, much like Cogs, will just be used in CBAs a hell of a lot more, probably the #3 guy behind Prestia and Hopper, but the likes of Prestia and Cotchin are bound to miss games here and there, so he will be around the ball plenty, reckon he's a safe bet for a 105 average.

Really like Parish too, but can't fit him in at the moment and think he's missed a bit of preseason.
Cumming another one I'd really like to start, but just have to wait and see how GWS structure up closer to R1.

Running with now, all the mid pricer bar hopper I am willing to flick pending preseason roles/form.

Defence; Pick overpriced defenders, risky mid pricers or sub risk/bad js rookie defenders (besides McKenna/Goater). Chosen to pay for Sicily & Dawson, and hope Richards gets more kick ins with Daniel playing midfield. Not too confident in Richards but role should be better and hate everything else. I don't mind paying overs for defenders when I'd just be paying up for mid pricers I don't want anyway.

Midfield: Clarry/Bont C and VC, and Titch for value. If I go a fourth, probably Jack Macrae. Hopper lock. Worpel speculative but done 90+ before, good training reports and should be top 2 for CBAs. Watch for now.

Rucks: Confident in Marshall, even if his role is worse at times, value too hard to pass up and Saints need him to ruck. Considering DC but if he shares with Cox I don't want it. English injury prone but very high ceiling. Sort of want to pivot to Witts.

Fwd: Dunkley and TT locked, Rozee looks great this preseason. Cmac/Flanders training midfield, need to get good CBAs as there's lots of competition. Will look elsewhere if they don't cement role in preseason. Allen received a 40% (***?) discount, great JS but don't think he does 80 without ruck time like a few years ago. Should make 150k.

Mitchell at M3 is a real risk for mine - makes your midfield look light on. Highest scoring area of the ground, I think you should have 3 super premiums there before going for value mid premiums. One way to fund it would be to drop Richards down to rookie, Worpel up to super premium mid. Having Hopper & Worpel along with Ashcroft being a high priced rookie all in your midfield really takes a decent chunk of your cash - I think you would be better off just having 2 of those 3.

Was tinkering around with formations last night, with the purpose of moving away from Guns & Rookies approach. 36 Trades.

DEF Line most of the Guns are over 600k, soooo expensive. Even though i have Stewart at D1 43% ownership at this time i could still down grade to good pre season prospect around the 500K price point and look to upgrading F4.
D2 #35, its been some time since i have seen a 1st year player look this good. Will hog the kick returns and just float across HB doing what he does best.
D3 Yeo, yes risky but will play midfield and baring injury will go close to 100 average. Give me the first 10 round please.
D4 Clark, horror run with injuries. But with a few years in the system and the saints needing a competitive midfield its time for Clark to shine.
D5 Goater, got one game last year. And didnt he look good
D6 Weddle, could change. Some talk about a wing role.

M1-3 no need to discuss
M4 Green even after Leon left, struggle toward back end of the season, suggesting fitness. Just a mountian of a man that will carry the GWS midfeild this year. Would look fantasic in the Black & White. (LDU pre season watch)
M5 Titch, was obvious last year (SAM) didnt want Titch. Welcome to the Pies.
M6 Hooper dont over think it 105+
M7 Worpel, few shoulder issues last year, but if he gets the role 85+ each week and 150K Yes please
M8 Phillips, over the injuries and has the best Coach in the game to guide him.

RUCKS Had about every option run though this line. But will play a straight bat. Grundy may struggle with the Melbournes style of play, but a good tap ruckman and look who he has around him. HTA yes please. Marshall, well priced for what he can deliver.

F1 Dunkley first pick. Show me the Brownlow
F2 Have gone Rozee over cogs. Still undecided. Cameron for Cover.?
F3 Toranto pure midfield, yes please.
F4 McLean hope he gets the role we all expect.
F5 King spec pick at the moment, will play every week and hope for a few big games in the early rounds.
F6 Sinn at the moment. See which rooks show up.

43K in the bank.

First draft.. fun to play around with some options and see where the early thinking sits!

DEF
I've weighed up Stewart vs Dawson as that #1 spot but ultimately went Stewart with the favourable bye round. Young I'm not 100% on but think he has upside at his price, just nervous with him at D2.. would probably prefer him in the D3/D4 range and am nervous if he "almost" works I've just started a D6 player which can be a challenge with any value picks that pop up. Yeo I think is worth the risk at his price, my only worry is if he breaks down early he is an awkward price to correct. The rest are mostly place holders until we see the rookie picture emerge, but I do think Jones at his price is worth it as he should make money and be reliable on field for the first part of the season.

MID
I love Laird's consistency, and if he can keep that going into this year he provides a really safe C option each week. Oliver is one I looked at but I feel like you can always get him cheaper during the season - the problem is whether that's in upgrade season! Definitely one I'd like to fit in. Bont/Macrae I think pick themselves given Dunkley has left, although I'm nervous on Macrae given he could still be pushed to the outside, and paying that price for "a lot of time on the wing" Macrae is not ideal. So may have a look at him as a target to upgrade to rather than start him. Green I see as a great breakout chance, and Hopper at that price is a stepping stone only - with so many trades he is one I'd look to get aggressive on trading out early to get a top premium in.

RUCK
English when fit and firing is a lock, but his durability is a risk at that price and I definitely don't want to get stuck playing ruck trade roulette again! Strongly considering Draper, I went oh so close to starting Witts last year and then got talked out of it so I'm not sure if I'm chasing last years vibes or if it's genuinely the right call. I like Grundy for 2 reasons - 1. he should get a lot more of the midfield ruck time as I think Gawn (when fit) slots in behind the ball or up forward (I reckon Melbourne will do something similar to Geelong and have a centre bounce set up that then immediately changes as players rotate), and 2. I think if they do go that set up, he is a strong chance to get FWD eligibility if they have Gawn in the centre bounce and then shift Grundy into the roaming ruck role. Just my hair brain conspiracy anyway!

FWD
Dunkley is almost a defensive pick he's so popular, if he fails everyone is in the same boat so there is no reason not to pick him! Rozee I think explodes this year.. he just seems to have clicked and got the role that suits him. Taranto in the Tigers midfield could be anything and while I wouldn't pick him as a mid, up forward he's gold. Cameron is there as ruck insurance as I'm not sold on that line, so if I do go Draper/one of the two aren't working out, I have options in terms of how I bail out. Bruce is in if the backline spot cements, but if that doesn't look the case I'll go a different avenue there.

Overall 11 keepers + Young so with luck 2 keepers but working off the lower number. Until we know rookies it's hard to nail a structure but at the moment this feels right given the forward premium options and desire for a strong mid line. Ruck and def lines will be very interesting though, as I could see myself with 1-3 def premiums if the rookies aren't there and that ripples through the whole line up!

Nice Vic, defence is a bit risky but could pay off, minimal green rookie exposure, very strong midfield if Green, Titch, Hopper and Worpedo do good things. Do you think Worp will outscore Fyfe? I don't think I've got the guts to start Worpel and Hopper, kudos to you if you do though :)

Hey mate, that's a lot of dosh sitting on your bench, maybe if you ditched Maginess and Francis you could afford Daicos in the backline?..btw McCasey has stepped away from the game.
