I just find it very hard to believe a 4th year player who has next to zero midfield experience is going to match it with the best mids of the comp and not be a complete liability, when I see it I'll believe it, trying to be the next Blicavs and actually being capable of doing it are two very different things.

Makes me far more likely to pick Darcy if he doesnt rob him of as much centre bounce Ruck time though.

Great reminder. As much as Jackson is an elite talent, Blicavs was already an elite athlete before playing AFL. His PB for the 1500m is only 15s off the Australian record and it was a failed bid to qualify for the --Olympics-- in 3000m steeplechase that caused him to change sports. That's one heck of a running base to start from and reminds us just how hard it is to be an elite, mobile big man 😯

I’m warming back up to shrek
His 2021 run was insane
Think he’ll be hungry as will Freo this year

As wogi pointed out in the Marshall chat earlier there are other rucks with upside this year and Darcy’s is probably as high or higher then the rest of the pool this year

We all spent heaps of trades on rucks last year so if an injury comes to Darcy then we’ll hopefully get a better look at Gawn/Grundy combo by that time and be able to pivot if needed! He’ll also be scoring well or as good as the others you’d like to think!

I really like Darcy, the Jackson unknown is pretty significant though, he was ordinary in ruck shares because he can't play forward.

And his durabilty.

I hate the rucks

Draper apparently great in Essendon intraclub...

Casboult/Chol could ruck.
Doubt that if Witts went down that they’d pass up the opportunity to blood Moyle. He’s ready to go, body will hold up at the top level, and has produced at VFL level now for a year and a half, after being taken in the 2021 mid-season draft. Re-signed on top of his initial deal for another few years, he’s ready if Witts was to miss for some reason or another.

RUCK ’N’ ROLE

Hawthorn couldn’t be happier with the way former Docker big man Lloyd Meek has settled into the brown and gold jumper – on and off the track.

Meek, 24, is primed to join forces with Ned Reeves this season as a two-pronged ruck attack.

Starting blocks: Which clubs have pre-season momentum?Big hint on new Hawks captain
The pair will be pitted against each other in Wednesday’s intra-club match, ahead of pre-season clashes with Geelong on February 23 and Collingwood on March 2.

Meek looks ready to realise the potential shown in 15 games with Fremantle and was one of the standout performers in the club’s Saturday morning session.
