This part :-

With Fremantle’s easy first six rounds, you may be more inclined to go with mid-priced forward Nat Fyfe. He may get you some points and cash quickly before a tougher schedule and/or injury.

Is a very valid point & why I am keen to start Fyfe - Freo have a great draw to start the season, can see them winning most of those games & the fwd line getting plenty of opportunities.

Does anyone know how Tom Powell at Nth is going have him in my keeper league, is he no good?
Go to nmfc.com.au and you will find an analysis of the training sessions involving match simulation since the new year. You'll be able to see who played and where, and also who sat out.

Impressive from the first bounce was Tom Powell, who was absent from last week's main session. The 20-year-old garnered two quick clearances to start the contest and was lively for the rest of the match, often being one of the players to drive his team forward from the centre.

Here’s how Brisbane’s 1’s lined up today;

B: Starcevich, Andrews, Joyce
HB: McKenna, Rayner, Rich
C: Prior, Neale, Tunstill
HF: McCluggage, Hipwood, Bailey
F: Fort, Daniher, Cameron
R: McInerney, Dunkley, Ashcroft
I: K Coleman, Robertson, Wilmot, McCarthy
Good to see McKenna and Wilmot in there, thanks Ben.

Apparently Wilmot was part of the wing rotation with Prior & Tunstill, his ball use was very good throughout.
Like hearing this as I think it increases his chances of actually getting named in the 22, expect Gardiner and Answerth still have to come into that side yet.

Looking at it would imagine that Tunstill, Prior and Wilmot are probably battling for a single spot.

Missing Berry and Zorko who are clear best 22 when fit. Rayner at CHB is interesting, would be undersized in most matchups.

Gunston also obviously missing but he probably pushes out Fort unless they go super tall.

Good to see two genuine options there. McKenna and Joyce also good options if they held their spots. Gardiner and Payne both not playing could put pressure on Joyce especially.

They may be changing it up but I would have thought Gardiner,Andrews and Payne all play and Joyce is their depth option with Adams out indefinitely, they like that 3 tall structure.

Does look like Rayner down back is going to stick so have to include him in their defence, likely Answerth that falls out.

Starcevich and Rich take the other two starting positions, Coleman then will be the 7th defender, I'm still struggling to comprehend where the hell the spot for McKenna and Wilmot is coming from at full strength, hope I'm wrong though as we really need at least 1 of them.

Agree. I would assume they played their KPD in the 2s to give the Fwds some decent training. No chance that's their back six in round one.

ADELAIDE has opted for a captaincy change ahead of the 2023 season, with Jordan Dawson appointed the new Crows skipper.

Dawson takes over at the helm from Rory Sloane, who decided to pass on the captaincy and step down from the leadership group altogether as he prepares to return from a knee reconstruction.

LIST ANALYSIS Where does your club rank for age and experience?

The 25-year-old Dawson only arrived at the Crows from Sydney ahead of last season, but quickly made an impression and was added to the club's leadership group midway through 2022.

"I could not be more excited to captain the club I barracked for growing up as a kid," Dawson said.

"It was surreal to pull on the guernsey last year, and now this is a huge honour.

"Everyone at this club wants to win and have success and do it as quickly as we can, so I'm honoured to have the responsibility of driving that.

"It's an incredible privilege and even better having the likes of Rory Sloane and Taylor Walker – both highly respected captains of the club – and our leadership group here to help me on this journey."

Dawson, who famously kicked an after-the-siren match-winner in the Showdown in round three, finished runner-up in the Crows' best and fairest.

Sloane, 32, moves on from the leadership position after four years in the role.

"The time is right because we have somebody who has stepped up and is ready to lead," Sloane said.

"We have been talking about this for five to six months, and I could 100 per cent keep going as captain, but there is someone else who is ready to take the club forward.

"It has been an honour to lead this club for the past four seasons, but once a captain always a captain, and there are blokes like Tex (Taylor Walker) and myself and the rest of the leadership group there to help 'Daws' going forward."

While Dawson will lead the Crows in 2023, the club's full leadership group will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks lauded Sloane, who played four games in 2022 after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in round five.

"Rory has been a follow-me captain who puts his head in the hole on gameday and has never asked anyone to do anything he wouldn't do himself," he said.

"He's led our club brilliantly through some very challenging times and never let us down.

PRACTICE MATCH FIXTURE Check out who your club is playing

"But now is the right time to pass the baton to our next captain and it emphasises the deep connection we have formed, that it's not about the individual but what's best for the team going forward.

"Jordan is ready because in key moments he steps up and delivers, particularly on-field.

"We identified him as having leadership qualities when we recruited him from Sydney and they have shone through in the past 18 months with us."

Hmmm interesting re: Dawson.

So now the 'how long is a piece of string question'

Does the captaincy benefit him or the opposite? The crows wanted to give him the ball plenty last year so that's unlikely to change this season, playing HB and pushing up the ground in match sims i think.... its a tough one, was in my initial team when SC opened by was quickly removed now to consider him again on the back of this news hmmmm

This has been my concern all along. And even if one does get a start will they switch them around subject to weekly match ups.

Some interesting positional choices there … Rayner at CHB!
