Constable probably almost wins the spot by default come round one.

Bowes and Markov have left. Weller, Budarick and Powell all limping into the season and unlikely for round one.

It's an area they really struggled in the second half of last year after losing all those guys.

Ellis was their clear main man there at the end of the season. With King back I'd expect Lukosius would be the first man to go back into the only role he's really looked good at so far. Farrar has been really solid there and I think is worth pushing games into. Even with those 3 and Collins there's still 3 slots. Lemmens has made a pretty good go as a lock-down and probably starts ahead in that role. They had MacPherson and Mac Andrew there at the end of last year but would think both could very easily be pushed out.

Wide open slot basically so if he can demand it, then he can stick it and score very decently in it. He's a much more natural open space finder than all but Ellis in that group, could easily put up very strong numbers.

Although a different player to the departed Izak Rankine, the Suns’ top pick is just as difficult a match-up. Humphrey is a strong overhead mark, brilliant around goal and boasts quick feet and explosiveness which make him hard to contain at ground level. Gold Coast have plenty of young talent, making the teenager’s path to an early-season debut a tough one, but he has the traits to have an impact inside-50 at some stage in 2023.

Hope he plays…been in my side since day one…
my query is his job security , not sure he is best 22 consistently

His role will be interesting but he had 31 and kicked 4.5 in a game last year, his best is very very good and hes built to play straight away, one I'll be pretty keen to see play in the pre season games.

Been in and out of my side based on these comments, however, deep dive suggests his endurance is 2/4, I would want 3/4 or see his TOG% in preseason to ensure he is not a sub risk.

Sinn currently dealing with hamstring soreness and while likely to be available round 1, he will build into the season due to his interrupted pre-season. Probably time to remove him from starting teams if not already done.

Not on my radar, Flanders didn't look great last year, pre-season reports are positive. Callaghan don't know too much about. New coach, new role? really can't plan for what he'll produce. Definitely both seem overpriced.

I rate Callahan, barring injury he'll get plenty of opportunity this season

Ones to watch, question of HFF and how much mid time they each get. Needs to be 50/50 to be 85 type players.

Max Michalanney from Adelaide seems to be flying under the radar. Seen him in a few ‘predicted round 1’ teams.

Does anyone have some insight (especially crows fans) on him. Could be a nice fall back option if a Weddle/Wilmot/Constable don’t get picked.

Dont think Flanders is a good enough forward for it to be his prmary role, if he was getting a good run in the midfield hed be just about a lock but I just dont see it happening and hes said himself hell have to play a role he doesnt like for the benefit of the team at times.

Callaghan has been in and out for me, role should be good and is a guy I rate pretty highly.

Need to get around 70-75 to work at this price range.

The way I see it its a crucial 2nd string to his bow, needed to be able to play another position for periods of a game to lock down a spot in their 22 for mine, mid that goes forward isn't really a problem its far better than sitting on the bench for extended periods of a game.

Ashcroft is a good enough talent that half a game on the ball will be more than sufficent I'm not too concerned, think people expecting him to just be a permanent midfielder in his first year in a deep midfield were looking at it fairly unrealistically.

He’s in there, I hope he’s a pig. I have selected/traded the ultimate pig (Rocky) more times than I care to remember!!! I just don’t want another Ward.

Re: Flanders, it's potentially mid rotations and midfield time that has people putting him on their watchlist, dominated the VFL through the midfield.

I've never been a fan of a donut taking up a defence or mid spot, too much money to be made in those positions, either pick one over a rubbish F8 or put it at R3.
