I think the other thing with Steele is the unknown of a new coach. It’s riskier picking a player with a new coach, as their role is usually less locked in.
I'll add my own proviso to that ....... unless the old Coach was somehow holding him back, or detrimental to his scoring.

Will Setterfield - $348k MID
25 years old and about to cross the 60 game 'breakout' area

One I've not seen discussed a lot at all, even in articles specifically looking at the viability of mid pricers
I think the argument can definitely made that he can be the best mid price pick of the year based on his numbers at Carlton when used predominately as a centre bounce midfielder

In 2020, Setterfield averaged 89.7, however its from rd5 onwards that is most interesting about this year.
Through the first 4 rounds he had 21% cbas for an average of 61.3. From round 5 onwards he had 53% cbas for an average of 99.2, including an average of 104 post bye
This stretch of 12 games is the last stretch of games with regular cbas that he has had

He is now playing on the same team as Merrett and Parish in match sim which would suggest he is part of the starting midfield at the dons

Currently at 1% ownership, is there any interest around here?
At his price, he needs to average 90+ to have done any good, and 95+ to be called a success. While you have shown his history says he is capable of this, you would think he'd need to be the 3rd regular Mid to achieve it this year. Because of that, he probably needs an LTI to Merrett/Parish/Shiel to get into that sort of role.

Richardson was the one holding him back, he cast him as a tagger and kept him there because he was so good at it, when Ratten took over he released Steele to become an attacking midfielder and that's what he's been ever since.
I don't see Lyon trying to curb what he's naturally good at to go back to a previous role that he started when we had more depth in the midfield.
Steele is the Saint's best midfielder by far and in my opinion there's no doubt about his role in the future.
Just because he's not going to tag anymore doesn't mean he still won't be racking up the tackles, it's just what he does.

I think I'll only take 2 true mid price options. For me Yeo and Ziebell are currently in my team, just feel they're the best option to generate cash and possibly be keepers or at least longer term trades. Does mean I'll miss a stepping stone to a premium which I'll need to think about but does allow me to start 11 true keepers with also the potential of Daicos, Yeo and Ziebell being keepers.
Pretty sure anyone starting Daicos should be of the opinion, that he is more than likely a Keeper. No Fwd/Def over $400k is any use as a Stepping Stone, so anyone in that range needs to be a Keeper.

For sure, but with so many trades he’d be gone at the drop of a hat any sign of trouble, The game allows you to do this now. Last year with less trades I was flicking players through the season and still managed to have one trade left at the start of round 23. I had no idea what to do with it, had plenty of bench cover also and just flicked Daicos round 23 to Docherty.

Good luck to you too mate, your Daniel pick concerns me a bit, his scoring has been trending towards less points the last few years, he could end up being another one you just wanna get rid of. I have a mate who started him last season and couldn't get rid of him and he frustrated the hell out of him lol. Nicnat is a pretty big risk too I reckon, just his age and injury history, if he does what he did in 2021 you're laughing but look what happened last year.
Thanks for your feedback. You are right on both points but in relation to Nic Nat, which ruck isn't a gamble this season? English already had 2 injuries in the preseason, Gawn/Grundy and Darcy/Jackson we are unsure if their split of ruck/forward and Witts you are paying top dollar. I think all rucks this year are a risk either injury or role?

That's one stacked midfield Pete, your other lines must be garbage? lol
I love the idea of a deep midfield but I just dont see how you do it without compromising everywhere else, also is frequently one of the better sources of cash generation through the season so dont want to be locking yourself out of those opportunities.
Sorry for the late replies been a a bit busy and only now catching up.

This is my current team and yes the backline is a bit on the thin side but i am comfortably happy there at the moment. Of course we still have a few weeks for mass changes 😁

That’s what I love about him - he can score well in so many different ways/ categories.
