There's one player that I can't start, partly because he's lost DPP privileges and partly because he's burnt us all too many times.
But is Whitfield a player that come the byes we're all going to be considering if he gets his DPP?

Who are the other players that you think fit this same mould?

I think you need to start a guy like that and shift him to def in rnd 7. Trading in someone so injury prone when his price is maxxed at is a no go for me.
Short would be the other, if he leaves the CBAs to the new mids.

Very interesting captaincy analysis :-

Screen Shot 2023-02-22 at 9.44.51 am.png

Rory Laird and the dogs. Combo is available for 8 out of the first 11 weeks, with a 72.7% hit rate. Great start to the year and works for the first 6 weeks.

Just checking the Demons fixture for Oliver/Laird owners also for the first 6 weeks :-

Round 1 Dogs play Melb so Oliver/Laird combo also available

Round 2 Melb v Bris Fri pm so Oliver/Laird combo available

Round 3 Melb v Syd Sun arvo however GWS play Sat lunchtime so Madden can't be used so Dogs/Laird combo option

Round 4 Melb v WCE Sun arvo, GWS play Sun Lunchtime so Madden can't be used so Dogs/Laird combo option but going to be tight with timing so will need to make call before the end of Ade/Freo game

Round 5 Melb v Ess Sat Lunch, GWS play Sunday so Oliver/Laird combo also available

Round 6 Melb v Rich Monday, GWS play Sat arvo however so Madden can't be used - Dogs/Laird combo option

@Russty_ & other saint fans, thoughts on Coffield if fit?

Tempting at 208K
I rate him and hope he has a good strong start to the season, he's a great size, 6ft 3 in the old, kicks twice as much as handballs, has only averaged 15 or so disposals per game so far but I think that will improve, also takes a good grab. 5 or 6 marks a game but hasn't played a full season yet.
I'm starting him but having a contingency plan ready, Goater or Liam Jones if Coffield looks a no go or isn't named.

I dont think Ive had a midfield since the game opened without Laird,Oliver and Bont, gun players and the way the fixtures line up is only a bonus.

They've missed Coffield's intercept marking I reckon, long as he's fit hes a pretty handy player.

That said, would highly recommend getting a NVidia Shield or Fire or Chromestick or Apple TV if indoctrinated in that ecosystem and using the app on those instead, the native processing power on TVs can definitely cause issues that those things will get around. I've got Shield and would highly recommend, albeit more pricy than the other Android options.
Interesting feedback Re shield - are there any apps it doesn't have available? Have an LG Tv that misses some crucial ones.
NVIDIA is just such elite quality, sounds like it's worth the $ over alternatives

Haha that sounds like a highly modded one, that you paid convenience for as they should cost about $50! Assume it's got Kodi on it.
Netflex is called nutflex lol. The fire stick alone is worth $120 from jb. I paid $150 for everything else. Its got foxtel, stan sports, optus sports kayo. Its got alot of stuff you would never watch as well

They have everything, but you can also have access to everything for the $99-$150 options, I could never justify spending extra money for no real benefit.

Just on Coffield, I have him near the bottom of my Rookie Wish List, mainly because he is coming back from a knee reconstruction last year and he had a hamstring strain towards the end of the year that required surgery. But, if I am in a desperate need for a Rookie, I would chance him.

He did the knee so early in the season hes had 12 months to rehab it patiently and properly, isnt something I'm particularly worried about. The pre Christmas hamstring surgery was my concern but hes back in full contact training a month out and is talented enough to take the risk.

I haven't got the facts handy, but from memory, players coming back from a knee reconstruction have an increased chance of it happening again and some players take another year to get their speed back. There could also be a psychological hurdle to get over. These are the concerns I have.

To be fair you're paying just over $200k for him, it's not a $600k+ premo. You wont need him for the whole season, just get 8 or so rounds out of him, $150k and on field acceptable scoring. People paid more than double that for Sicily and $150k more for Witts last season and they turned out the top players in their lines.

Lot of those concerns are lessened when youre getting a guy for 200K that's averaged 80 before though.
