Yeah Bruhn has been in and out of my squad since the sim. Carrying Flanders at the mo but might swap him out for Tanner. Kid needs to go 90 though to make bank. Also needs Scott to play a kid for more than a couple of weeks....

Managed alongside Cameron and Smith was the mail fed to Fox Sports, whether you believe that or not is debateable.
Interesting only played a half in match sim and now not named in the 30. If anything new recruits are more likely to play in the pre-season even if not best 22 for the regular season in order to get used to the Cat's gameplan.. so the Cat's can have a look at him etc. Seems bizarre.

On paper it is but Simon Lloyd also said they are happy with what they have seen from the players they have managed, had alot of high intensity training sessions and match sims the last few weeks.

"We have got what we need through a large number of training sessions and last week’s match simulation against Hawthorn.”

But isn’t that what the past few months of training/match simulations/discussions/etc have been for in terms of learning the game plan in comparison to a meaningless pre season match which should not hold much weight in their decision making on their best 22?

Definitely differences to doing it against other sides where there is unpredictability than doing it against your own team where you can cheat the system by knowing what you're against more.

Would wager good money that the rumours on Bowes have turned out to be correct as he'd be wanting to play to win a spot and they'd want to give him more exposure to everything.

This is the way I'm leaning really, Geelong has never seen the pre season games as the be all and end all, they do what they feel they need to to get players prepared the best for Round 1, at the end of the day theyve seen these guys train 3 times a week since December they have a pretty good idea where they sit in their planning already.

What are the rumours? That he's injured or oustside their best 22?

Had calf tightness and wasnt risked is what is going around at the moment after checking up on a few contacts that are generally reliable, Mitch Cleary doesnt report crap either and has good club contacts so would take him on face value (I missed that live but just watched it back on replay).

Thanks! that is much better than being outside best 22. tbh i am very bullish on him (probably too much). Just the fact that the deal attached with him would have meant every team would have wanted him. I could be wrong but surely he doesn't go to a team who says there's even a chance he's playing vfl. In a great geelong team who will win a lot of games i honestly see him averaging 80 at a minimum, he aint going to be playing a lock down role, is 25 and into the prime of his career and has averaged 80+ twice before for a crap suns team who werent winning games.

Wonder if hell run out in the VFL practice match going into round 1, last year a few of our listed players got that hit out in there aswell, its March 10 at GMHBA so would be easy for the club to navigate.

It's worth noting that those bad Suns' teams were what allowed him to average 80, he played a role that doesn't exist in good sides like Geelong.

He's got talent and the ability to score well but I wouldn't correlate playing a nothing role hording kick-ins and cheap touches across half back with the role he's likely to have at Geelong.

Still a strong option and definitely could still score that way in a stronger side where maybe better football roles are rewarded more but definitely some danger with linking what will be very different roles for scoring. Not dissimilar to Ziebell as a defender compared to Ziebell as a forward across the last two seasons for how a bad side doesn't hurt certain roles.

Bruhn named on ball, of course it's never definitive but it doesn't look like they're missing any other midfielders.
Im a little concerned we will get a bit of an over inflated opinion of him still, Bowes will get mid minutes and the side thats named tomorrow means Danger will play far more time forward than hes going to once the likes of Hawkins and Cameron are out there playing.

It's not a great price point but I do prefer him over someone like Sheed. If he were around $250k it would be a lock. How he goes against a far better midfield in Brisbane will tell us more as well, Hawthorn have the worst midfield in the comp.

Don't quote me on it, but pretty sure I heard it mentioned on Seven News, Bowes was out with a tight calf, make of that what you will.

Official comment is he was being managed. SO that does suggests he is probably close or in best 22. Is managed calf or load, who knows, it is Geelong. I haven't looked into his injury history of what they were, however, little bit of a flag.

For those who watches Show me the Money II, AFL draft day, Danger was contacting him mid 2022, wanting him to come across. He tour the facility and went where he felt he was wanted. From memory other team was Essendon, however, they had coaching turnover issues which may have unsettled him. He picked Geelong as he felt they were invested in him and wanted the best for him.. Danger is a very decent person from what we have seen, so expect it is genuine.

Likely question is if he is HFF role, what is his scoring power, to @wogitalia point. I think that may be overlooked. Need to go at 85 or have a big spike to do really well. should be ok and better than the last geelong mid price we have in Jordan Clark.
