What in god's name are those logos
Yeah, dark mode on my phone and the SC app are currently not on speaking terms 😂
Opened up my draft side after an auto-draft yesterday and thought something had gone wrong and I'd ended up bringing in NRL players or something, recognized precisely zero shields at first glance.
Pies are like a shiny white egg, e.g., Cats similar but with the faintest of grey stripes, it's majestic 🙃

How the hell do people even get SC to show up in dark mode? Not that it matters as it looks horrendous hahaha.

Okay, spent today watching a few games on Kayo, even the mini's are pretty helpful and I can't believe I've never watched them previously. Anyway, still plenty to play out and a quick outline on the below.

Most of my teams have Doch and Dawson D1 and D2 - still like that structure but looking for some value and dollars and Ridley is one that caught my eye. I didn't get burned last season so there's no prior hurt here but he gives me options if he doesn't look good to potentially go to Cumming, Daicos or Young if needed. Even down to Liam Jones who I'm not liking at this stage but will watch.

Really wanted 3 captain options in the mids - Macrae I think can get back to good numbers and usually starts well, also like Neale, Oliver and Brayshaw.

Flanders looked good, reading a lot of posts I was of the impression that Touk coming back would be a real factor in his scoring - personally didn't see that in the preseason game I watched, only noticed him in 1 or 2 CBA's and was pushing high HF and further up the ground and looked dangerous with the ball, very creative.

I'm not 100% sold on Darcy - if I was to move Ridley down to Liam Jones I'd likely move him to Gawn. What I did look at was Darcy trajectory with Gawn around the same vintage - makes for some interesting reading.

Anyway, no doubt this has changed by the time you've finished reading this so let the games begin.

Dunkley is a Captain's option.

All of those mid priced players and no Yeo?
I know
Somewhat agree with the above.

If you think you have two decent captaincy options out of Bont/Darcy/Dunks, then roll with this side & back in your gut. You've got the trades to turn Whitfield & Setterfield into a must-have rookie you miss & another premo captaincy option after Round 2 too. If Whitfield and Setterfield fire early, you could be onto a winner.
yes I properly only keeping Whitfield due to got a great draw early on I think and will be Dpp by then it seems.

So here's a team with exactly $0 remaining.....

Things I like:
  • In-form premiums (I count 11 with Ridley and Green) - all of them scored well during Preseason
  • Majority of the popular mid-pricers / breakout contenders (Yeo, Hopper, Callaghan, Gulden, Bruhn, Flanders)
  • DPP-links for DEF<>MID and MID<>FWD.
Things I don't like:
  • Zero spare cash for corrective trades
  • DEF Bench rookies are probably competing for the same spot. Alternative could be Cowan out, Wagner in
  • R15 Bye will be carnage in the midfield.
Any feedback appreciated.

Light defence is probably more risky but I see it working if we got guys like Bowes and Crozier for long enough, could have Yeo and Bowes plus 4 or 5 guys under 230K pumping out 60-70+ every week.
It's an interesting choice, do you pay up for D2 where there is less value, forego a mid premo for a mid midpricer or go light on the defense and take a more risky approach in the backline? Basically it comes down to something like a Dawson and Callaghan/NWM/Setterfield/Ash vs a Cripps/Kelly/Steele and a Bowes/Crozier (assuming Jones is locked in regardless).

Have had sides with both structures but right now I'm alot more confident with say Dawson and Worpel than Bowes and a Steele and its not that much more expensive, think the people that get that decision right will be the ones that have the better start, dont see much differential in ruck and forward lines happening from the top line coaches.

I agree, there is more security in the midfield mid pricers, I think there are a couple of really decent options there.

I think it's a good team except for the bench (1 of Cowan/Cinotta, Chesser, Davey, maybe even Sturt)

I'd lose 1 mid-pricer somewhere (probably Bruhn) to a Mclean type, then you can fund 1 of Cowan/Cincotta (to Mckenna), Chesser to a Phillips, Sturt to a Sheezel, probably even fit in a Madden to Esava upgrade too.

This team is probably too extreme of a cheapie bench, although it does seem in general teams have quite expensive benches. Somewhere in the middle seems the way to go.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not quite sold on Mclean (could be great, could also be a stinker), but I do see your point. I probably need a bit more bench cover, catches me out every year, haha. Thanks again.

One of the two Carlton rookies in defense will probably be the sub so I would look out for that. Maybe Gawn down to Darcy and one of them up to McKenna or something like that?

Soon as Gia was interviewed post game and said Setterfield is versatile and will play mutiple roles he got a cross from me, hasn't shown any actual ability to play anywhere but inside mid and really needs to be dropping 90+ at 350K, if you get a 50 with more time off a wing or flank it very quickly becomes a nothing pick.
