LOL, WOW! labelled him one of the better scorers based on 1 game with 31% TOG. I must admit, he did look good in that time, and if he looks just as good this week, remembering it is only Melbourne they play this week, then it could be a plan! :)
Thanks for the reply Rowsus.
I know, big call haha. But i liked what i saw in that 31%.
If he plays a full game like that I can see him being a very good scoring rookie. The fact that he should be a decent POD too is also appealing.

What are your thoughts on Lance Franklin?
I currently have him in my team, and my initial thought is to hold him for now, however, he is starting to frustrate me.
In saying that though, he did start to look a bit better at some points on Saturday night

My thoughts are, I am glad I changed him out in the last week before round 1, but those that went with him should stick with him a bit longer.

Dear Rowsus, why oh why is Sidebottom starting poorly (compared to his price) this year?

PS, where does one getting the more detailed stats such as TOGs, Disposal efficiency, etc.?

Dear Gummers,
I am sure Sidey will come good again, Collingwood seem to be throwing their structure around a bit at the moment, and when it settles he'll be back. Having said that, I think he is only a 105-108 player at best.

You can get the stats you want under the advanced stats section of the AFL website. Just go to the game you want to look at, then click on "advanced stats".

It's a tough few weeks you face, but you do have some options. Good luck :)
Thanks Rowsus. A lot of lessons for me to take note of there.

Pretty sure I'm now going Hurn to Swallow and Ziebell to Wines.

Will free up some cash next week for that defensive upgrade. Subject to performance may go Johnson or even May for that one. He would make a lovely swing set with Henderson down the track...

Ahhhh.... an easy question at last! :D
Most SC Coaches do about as much forward thinking and analysis on their SC trades as they do on next Tuesdays lunch! Not the Coaches here though! ;) They are lazy, and see Ambrose's 81 and "just assume" he is a must have. They don't look beyond this coming week. If Ambrose plays this week, and gets dropped next week, they will be the ones around the watercooler at work, bemoaning their bad luck. "Man, I wasted a trade on him, and he only played one game for me! :(". Keep in mind, there are about 40-50,000 keen SC players, and 300,000 that just play for a bit of fun, conversation, and bragging rights over their mates. I agree with you. Despite his low scores, Taylor would appear to have better JS going forward than Ambrose. I already have Taylor at M10, and I don't think I will be doing JKH/Impey to Ambrose. I just don't see the benefit in it. A Little bit like Zorko/Swallow, those that started with Ambrose did well, but I won't burn a trade to bring him in.
Rowsus, I was actually considering the JKH => Ambrose trade, however your comments above have made me reconsider that. If I understand correctly, are you suggesting that Taylor will be the better cash cow as his 6 in round 1 will drop out after round 3 and he is capable of scoring at 60+ with good JS, while Ambrose may not be capable of repeating his 80 score and may get dropped anyway? As a result, the large projected price rise for Ambrose and the lower increase for Taylor may reverse after the next few rounds? Am I on the right track ?
If so, is JKH => Taylor a reasonable trade?
Cheers

That's the thinking, RB.
Ambrose looks to be on shakey ground, Taylor is expected to make more of an impact, and have better long term JS. And as you suggested, his low score of 6 disappears after this week, having only affected his price once.
The other option is just to keep JKH. I certainly don't see a full trades worth of benefit of going JKH to Ambrose. I'd actually think twice about going JKH to Taylor, too. Though his DPP could be useful.

hi rowsus....

would you make this trade.

dixon to zorko?

while dixon (fwd) provides some cover in the ruck (i have a link) he is not scoring well. and is likely to lose $60,000

Hi a_k,
If you think Zorko will finish top 6 for Fwds from here, then yes I would. You can see it as a corrective trade. Sandi is mostly through the danger period now, and only needs to stay on his feet this Friday to be easier to replace if/when it comes to that. Holding Dixon is fraught with danger, as he becomes almost untradeable if he scores low again. I have currently traded Dixon ---> D Martin this week.

You have convinced me with logic. I already have Martin so yes I will bring in Zorko. Thanks rowsus

Would love your thoughts as to why you're trading out Dixon. Like me, I assume you have him because you thought he had the potential to be a Top 10 forward (plus the R/F link is handy). What has changed your mind, and if it's about his relatively low R1 score (leaving aside his concussion in R1), doesn't this go against the advice of "stick with your premiums"?

P.S. At this stage, I'll hopefully only have one trade to make this week (Hurn to ???) ... the other would maybe be getting Ambrose in for either JKH or Rohan, but not sure I could justify the trade. My team is here:

I really messed my team up, with tinkering in the last 10-15 minutes before the first lockout in round 1. One of the mistakes resulted in Dixon being in my team, instead of Rioli. I sort of lived with it, as I had Sandi, but never had Dixon rated top 10. I had him rated around 15 - 20 for Forwards preseason, but only about 100 points out of the top 10. I really should never had had him, and now he faces a potential $60k price drop. That would make him a problem that is hard to fix, and he was never in my original plans, or rated at a Keeper level in my preseason planning. So under those 3 things, I'm actually calling it a correction trade. I broke a rule by putting him in my team, and now I'm bending another rule to near breaking point by taking him out! I probably should go the full fix, and get Rioli, but I wanted Martin at some stage, so I thought I'd get him now instead.

Hi Rowsus,

After contemplating numerous trade options this week I think I will only make one.
Laidler to Taylor.

Trying to avoid all the trade options going around this week. ie swallow, thomas, zorko, Ambrose etc.
I have Mitchell and Fyfe in my team and could sit them on the bench (although Mitchell may play). Only worry may be a lower score for a few weeks and last week I dropped from 2510 to 17000.

Rookies I have include:
Backs: Langdon, McDonald, Langford, Georgiou.
Mids: Tyson, Polec, Dunstan, Ellis, Aish, Michie, Taylor (traded in this week possibly for Laidler)
Ruck: Currie, Thurlow
For: Impey, McCarthy.

Love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks.

It seems like an ok trade, not great just ok. If Laidler is named this week, I think I'd save the trade, and go without Taylor. He looks handy, but I don't think he is a must have.

Hi Rowsus, how's Legoland going :) do you live near Billund? anyway question for you..
Can a team win SC 2014 without any one particular rookie?

I ask you this because I'm considering two trades this week that unfortunately for me don't involve either of the two rookies I don't have in Tyson or MThomas.
I have all the other usual suspects.

I've never been to LegoLand, I think it's about 2-3 hours away by car, but I'm not sure. :)
I don't think there are any Rookies that we can say with even 95% certainty, that the winner had them this year. Yes, certain Rookies have the potential to make things easier, but I'm not sure there are any where we'll say "you can't win without them".

Just thinking how important O'Meara was last year and although Tyson won't be a keeper (?) his earning potential is already ahead after first 2 rounds compared to O'Meara's 2013 start.. and so is MThomas. So without one of them I'm thinking I'll be at a disadvantage.
However the trades I'm considering that don't get me either, will turn a midpricer(Caddy) into a keeper premium(Zorko).
Thanks for your reply Rowsus, much appreciated.
Much more thinking to do.
