Last time Danger was out of contract, he averaged 118 ;).
Dangerfield is not out of contract until end of season 2015. In my mind he is the ultra competitive beast and having been below par for two weeks running will imo stir him to greater heights. I think in his mind the fate of the team rests on his shoulder and he feels greatly responsible for their substandard performance.

Hey Rowsus, just another quick question.
Does fielding a 117k rookies in Taylor up forward leave you disadvantaged? I started the season with a 5-1-2 fwd line but need cash down back, so swing Taylor forward for Roughy

I actually don't think Currie will last too long. He is slow, and dropped some pretty easy marks in the Forward line on Sunday. He just has trouble getting the ball. He actually didn't Ruck that much, and where he is more impacting Goldy's score is, that while Currie is there, Goldy won't sneak forward for that goal here or there. You recognise that Mummy has been injury affected, and that is has been the case for a number of years, is there a reason why you think it won't happen again this year? Particularly given his workload has been higher than ever before. His contests attended is off the charts, and I would think not sustainable for someone with his fitness record. I can see Goldy and Mummy not being too far apart, average wise, but I will still back Goldy to play more games. I'd stick with Goldy, but if you have lost all faith, then there is no doubt, this is the week to jump.
Yeah that's a good point you make, there is a good chance Mumford will get injured, and I do feel like this could be one of those early season trades I regret, especially if Goldstein starts lifting (which he should). I agree with you and I will hold onto Goldy.
Thanks again Rowsus, and happy birthday!!

Hi Rowsus,

Thanks for answering all our questions. This thread is not only my favorite one, it is also the one where I learn the most and the one that gives me the most 'food for thought'.

My team is currently;
Hanley (mid), Hibberd, Enright, Suckling, Langdon (mid), Langford, Georgiou, Clurey
Ablett, Pendlebury, Rockliff, Beams, Murphy, Aish, Polec, Dunstan, Taylor (fwd), Wanganeen
Naitanui, Sandilands, Derickx, King
Dangerfield, Martin, Franklin, Pavlich, Zorko, Rohan, JKH, Impey
Cash $5,800

Whilst I am not too happy with the performance of Franklin and Pavlich, I don't think I should trade them at this stage.
My main concern are the two bench donuts in Clurey and Wanganeen that are unlikely to play again soon and therefore are not making me money.
Apart from them, I don't see too much future in Suckling and Rohan. And selling one of them would free me cash to deal with my donuts.
Clurey I could swap with Clay Cameron, however I am not sure about either his job security nor his scoring potential.
I could sell Rohan for Ambrose, but that would at the very least be extremely risky.
My preferred trade would be Suckling for McDonald. He seems to have good job security and scoring potential and frees $130k.
Now I can use this cash to upgrade Wanganeen to either Tyson, Ellis or Cunningham. Everybody is talking up Tyson and he did ok so far.

So here is my question. Considering that I can sink the money that I don't use in my midfield trade next week into a better player, I think I mainly need to consider the respective price increases between these three players plus their job security.
So first how do you see Cunningham's job security and do you think it is realistic for him to continue on a 68 average?
Ellis I believe is quite safe in the team. To generate the same cash he would need to average 72, well below his current 82, which would create an extra $30k before his bye plus I have too many round 10 rookies.
It is hard to see Tyson getting dropped early unless he gets injured. To create the same cash as Cunningham he would need to average 83, which seems more than achievable. To match Ellis he needs to average 93 if I want to trade him prior to round 9, 90 for a round 10 trade. Again this is well below his current average and seems more than achievable. Couple that with his additional points that I expect each round out of him, he does seem the obvious choice.

So in summary my plan is Suckling -> Langdon & Wanganeen -> Tyson

Can you see any flaws in my analysis and/or do you have any other suggestions?
Also do you have any ideas how I could get Clurey out of the team in a beneficial way?

My bad haha. Dunno why they're even mentioning his contract right now then....

Trade: Webster >> Langford.

I feel Langford only has his spot until Sewell & Stratton return. Not sure i want this trade.

Any thoughts ??
There doesn't seem to be enough benefit in that trade to make it worthwhile, unless the loose change pushes you to an extra Premium this week.

The price of the Rookie really is irrelevant, it's more their output that is important. You have to look at the total sum, and while you compare Taylor to Roughie, you also have to add in the change in your Midfield to see if it is advantageous, or negative.

Hi Bridge,
getting stuck with low priced, non-playing Rookies is no fun, and a tricky problem to fix without seemingly wasting cash, or later on, downgrade opportunities. I'm not sure there is any easy fix to the Clurey problem for the moment.
The only problem I see with your Suckling/Wanganeen ---> McDonald/Tyson is it leaves your backline 3-0-5 with Enright and Clurey in there. There is potential for problems with a set up like that, but if you can drag it through 2 or 3 weeks, it will be ok. While Clay Cameron has good JS his scoring and money making means he is not worth trading in.
While Sydney are struggling, and some it's regular players aren't playing up to the usual role, I see Cunningham's JS as being ok. He is filling his role, which is more than a few their players can say! As to comparing the relative goals you have set: Cunningham 68, Ellis 72, Tyson 83. I think if Ellis stays fit, he and Tyson will exceed those goals by more than Cunningham will exceed his.
If you get Tyson, I think if he holds form you should be keeping him beyond his round 10 bye, if possible, and using him as one of your last upgrades, or even as a useful M9.
Nicely analysed, and your thinking seems clear and heading in the right direction. Good job!
Good luck :)

Happy Birthday Rowsus, that cake sounds delicious.

I'm considering trading
Caddy > Zorko (can also be Parker, Mitchell, Rioli..)
This turns a midpricer into a premium already. However I miss out on Tyson.

Other option is to trade
JKH > Tyson
I get a king rookie, however miss the opportunity to turn midpricer into a premium without any other trades.

I really am thinking of that Birthday cake.
Please would like to know your thoughts on these options.
Is it worth missing a valuable rookie if it means I can turn a midpricer into a premo?
