After five iterations (and counting), I'm happy with this field.
- Decided to flip Dawson for Docherty
- I'm confident in a Draper breakout this season, so I flipped English and added Marshall
- That allowed me to throw Himmelberg in the back line for the boost
- J. Cameron out, Oliver in for a boost in the midfield
- Yeo out back cause the man's gonna work a lot this season lol
Thoughts? Reckon I'm overextending on the rookie picks?

So this is a very interesting team. Not sure how long you've been playing Supercoach for, but here are a few tips that might help streamline your side.
Now, the first thing is to divide your players into the role they play in your team.
Firstly, you have the elite players (your guns). Their job is to score points. They usually cost upwards of $500k each. If you can find value here, all the better, but sometimes you'll spend extra to lock in a secure Captaincy option (think the most expensive player this year, Rory Laird). Ideally, these players are kept for the entire season, although injuries and other factors can affect that.
Secondly, you have your rookies (cash cows). These players roughly cost between $100-200k, and their job is to spend part of the season in your squad, accruing value as they outscore their very low initial priced to average, and you trade them out for a new rookie, and the generated funds are used to acquire new premiums throughout the season.
In between these players are the midpricers; they're generally SC no-mans land, where they'll neither score enough to be an outright gun, nor make as much cash. However, there's about a dozen or so exceptions every season.
So, what kind of players should you be looking for?
In Supercoach, not all playing positions are created equal. The most valuable positions are:
Inside Midfielder.
#1 Ruck (especially solo)
Half-Back flanker (especially when taking kick-ins)
7th defender (especially if they're both a good interceptor and their team funnels the ball through them).
Positions to avoid:
Any Key Position Player.
Forward and Back Pocket
Pure Wing roles.
When picking guns, this is generally advice that gives a baseline, however with rookies, the restrictions can be lifted (though rookies with better roles would have an easier time scoring), but more importantly, a more crucial factor is Job Security. A rookie can't make money if they're not playing.
So, guns score the points, rookies make the cash to earn more guns, and midpricers do a little of both.
So let's go through your team:
Docherty, Ridley, Yeo, Crozier and McKenna are solid picks.
Himmelberg could have been an excellent pick, however, he's been touted to be playing in the forward line, which is far less lucrative for point scoring.
Vlastuin and Frampton I literally have no idea on. Vlastuin might work depending on if he has the lion's share of distribution duties in Richmond's backline.
Your midfield is a little too shallow. Take Himmelberg and Frampton out of defence, put Constable and Ginbey into defence, opening up two midfield spots. Take Hobbs out of your forward line, and put Fyfe there instead. Pick Jacob Hopper in your midfield. You should have 2 spots open. Pick another gun to assist Oliver - my personal choice would be Bontempelli, which leaves about $250k to spend.
You could either buy another cheaper midpricer to act as a cash cow (popular options would be Callaghan or Flanders), or invest in turning Draper into a more established ruck.
Last thing, turn Wardlaw and Cadman into Oscar Baker and Fergus Greene. This will give you another $160k to play around with.
