Two Carlton rookies are unlikely. Is Chesser a donut to play if not selected rnd 1? Mackenzie and Phillips look like good rookies you don't have.
Happy to wait and watch on both of those more expensive rookies.
But yes, the bench rookies do look a bit vulnerable I agree. I may use one of setterfield/Worpel down to a phillips if I need to and then use the cash to strengthen the cincotta/cowan/Chesser selections where required l.

I think Chesser has more value as a donut to play rather than being managed. It would be good if West Coast build his fitness in the WAFL rather than as a sub. I'm tinkering with the idea of starting him if not picked.

Looks like I've finished up with a very vanilla team, however I think every player deserves there spot.
Sadly I had to punt Lachie Hunter at M4 as I wanted Esava at F7 for some type of ruck back up.
Worpel and Fyfe become my sacrificial lambs for correction trades but willing to take that punt.
Bont into Laird for VC and C this week'
Think I'm all set until team selections throws a spanner in the works.

The time is almost upon us.
Here is where my team is at, and has been unchanged for a few days now. It is the x vs y calls that I'm focusing on now.
Worpel v Hopper, Rat v Sheezel, even Darcy v English.
Im comfortable with the structure for the most part. I am thin in defence, and have debated removing Coniglio for Dawson, but have stuck with this for now.
My biggest worry at this stage.. Is Green a must have in the midfield?? So many teams running with him.

I have found too that a $500k D2 is necessary
My only question here is you’ve ignored all of McLean. Allen, Sheezel and Philipou whilst spending $570k at F5-6. You’ve possibly gone too conservative there. I know you’ve instead chosen the R/F backup. But we have decent cheaper alternatives for those spots. Unless you think Bruhn say is a keeper I feel you may as well pick a cheaper cash cow.
Some savings in your forwards could get Gulden up to premium mid or Doch or Dawson into D1.
Hopper, Fyfe, Worpel and Bruhn stand out too. I doubt all 4 work out you could look to one down one up

I'd prefer Hopper over Worpel, just how it went for him after his good year is a worry I think, whereas Hopper has had 3 consecutive seasons averaging over 90, a bit less risk with Hopper.

So refreshing to see a slightly different make up
2 x 500k Def + what everyone else has (can't do Jones myself)
Worpedo M6, Dunks in mids to allow F4-6 of Fyfe, Bruhn, Flanders

Thanks for brightening my day

Do you really need that F4-F6 though? I asked this question of you earlier. If you feel you need to that’s obv fine. But you’re not selecting some viable cheaps in Sheezel, Pou and McLean. The masses seem to have them and if they prove ok on field you could fall behind

I agree. But I also look at the circumstances. Hawks had two almost identical style players in Mitchell and Worpel. Both contested, both terrible using the ball. They didn't want to play both. Now Mitchell is gone, it is Worpels position. Job security could be an issue but I don't need him to play more than 8-10 games realistically. Tough decision and may still go with Hopper.

All very valid points here @Hondo.
I enjoy the different opinions we all have picking teams striving to get the best bang for buck.
I don't see any of Bruhn, Fyfe, Worpel, Hopper, or Flanders being keepers but hoping they can jump out of the blocks early and give some good scores while making some money. I usually try and start a safe team and I have had all of McKenzie, McLean, Sheezel, and Philipou in my squad at some stage.
My issue with these guys is that I think they are all prime candidates for the red vest which spells disaster for cash generation.
I hope I'm wrong as I would still like McKenzie back in my squad as I thought he played a ripper practise game but I guess you can't have them all.

Alright, I've probably gone a bit different to prior years. I think where I've really struggled is feeling secure with my bench. For that reason I've gone for a bit more value across the lines. If anything, it just gives me a bit of room to work with for correctional trades if and when we need them early. Easier going down from a Worpel than trying to find the extra cash.

I've also toyed with Gulden to Fyfe to allow me to also have Bowes down back and drop Cowan or Wilmot.

Crozier may turn into Stocker with the injury news to Coffield meaning he's got some solid JS.
