So what he's saying is they need other players to attend centre bounces while him and Oliver are on the bench or resting forward...? Thanks for the insight Christian, I never would've guessed you can't have 95% TOG as a full time mid.
Bear in mind it would have been in response to an inane question and these guys receive media training so as to not bite their heads off.

That’s a few 😳. You would think Chesser/Long would be sub in/sub out if no injury occurs (unlikely for us)
I sure hope not. It would be nice if the AFL would legislate against teams naming a debutant as the sub - not so much for us, but it's such a big occasion for the player and their family and to have that moment taken off them really sucks. I think it was Connor Downie a couple of years ago who was named as a debutant week 1, ended up as the sub, never got activated and never got near selection again before being delisted.

At least with the new (old) sub rule they should at least see game time now.

Close, he did play one game right at the end of the season. Agree that was an awful decision to "debut" him as sub then not field him though.

Great decision. Time to get as many games into the future of the club as possible. Don't care about a bottom 4 finish this year. Bite the bullet and get on with the rebuild.
Completely agree. I wouldn’t care if we finish bottom 4 for 6 years straight if we manage to take home a flag or two as a result.

In three years we will most likely have none of

Cripps, Darling, Gaff, Hurn, McGov, NicNat, Shuey and Yeo.

Need to get the replacements from somewhere

I wouldn't mind 1-2 more bad years for the Hawks, but 6 is pushing it. I'll back the club for that to be enough down time that they will still win flags afterwards.

Seems a few clubs are all trying to bottom out at once. Don't really care if the Hawks lose most games this year either, get some more good draft selections, but a win in Rd 1 would be nice.

I don't think any club can go into a game planning to sub a particular player out. Too much occurs within any game. You can't select a guy to play in the 22 if they can't be expected to play a full game out.

Oh for sure. Obviously depends on performance but would seem the most likely to me.
