Still not huge on him for JS (and it depends on the teams for our other options) but apparently Milera didn't train today (and hasn't for a week or two with some kind of personal matter) which would put Max in a pretty good position for a round 1 debut.

Worrell is listed as 3-4 weeks away which might see him go through the SANFL first so yeah, if options are bare then I suppose I've seen worse options.

EDIT: Apparently Burns has confirmed Laird will be back tomorrow and good to play in round 1. Suppose it gives us some clarity to the above then.
What's the concern on Laird ? 🤔

I am guessing you mean Milera.

How good are Samson Ryan’s chances of playing? Any tiges fans have some insight?

If he plays Round 1 I can’t see me not picking him.

Even if he gets dropped after 1 or 2 games he has a good looping fixture. I can loop some kind of combination of Bont/Laird/Dunks from rounds 2-8.

The other scenario is that he gets at least 3 games and can make some cash… assuming he doesn’t score in the negatives like last time :ROFLMAO:

My take is that 1 of Ryan or Young will play while Tarrant is out, Gibcus is out for the medium term but it would have been him. Ben Miller has been the preferred 3rd KPF/ruck and offers a ton more than Soldo, defensively, attacking and on the ground. Miller has spent most of his time in the VFL as a KPD and acquitted himself quite well in that role for a few games in the AFL until he was moved forward, he's been training with the backs over the last week, so I guess the MC is weighing him up against Young. If Miller is named then Ryan will come in as that 3rd KPF/ruck, it's the position he's been played in the VFL while Soldo was the main ruck, when Soldo was out he had the main ruck mantle. Ryan is a big unit and surprisingly good below the knees, I would think he's the more likely of the 2 to get a gig and could stay in the team if there's an injury/rest to Lynch or Riewoldt.

I've not seen much of Samson Ryan but he's listed as a 96kg, 206cm 22yo. That's massive.

Is he a more of a 'drop it on his head', lumbering, CCJ type or a more mobile Luke Jackson type? Capable of kicking a bag?

Trying to work out if Ryan/Sav/Madden and Jackson would get me two decent scores each week from three of them and a lot of DPP flexibility.
Ryan is more of a mobile / skillful ruckman capable of kicking goals. His VFL numbers have been pretty good and while he has the usual ups and downs that you see with an emerging ruck, his top end is pretty impressive. Obviously the game against Williamstown is the standout with 20 disp, 8 marks, 29 HOs and 3 goals = 131 DT. Also, he's now 22 so probably more than ready to take his opportunity at AFL level. Plenty of Richmond supporters I know say he has gone past Soldo and should be playing AFL

I think Chesser is a real chance of being the sub or getting subbed. Simmo has mentioned a few times that they are going to carefully manage his workload.

Cowan looks to be the better one I think.
Still have to pick him though, hey.

The kid can play and the club has stated that they want to ease him into it. Tells me that barring injury, he's going to be getting proper rookie gametime at some stage.

So ok, say we decide to fade him now with a view to bringing him in when he starts getting more minutes. Chances are, we won't know about him getting more of those minutes until after we see it.. If he's already played maybe 4 or 5 games at 40-50 and then had a 70 or so, then you are going to be paying north of 160k for him... or something. I dunno I haven't put a calculator on it.

The point is, that it might be worth just getting him in at the start and parking him as a slow burn. We might even get a week off here and there for some loopholing. His DPP becomes pretty useful then
