Bytel, wow, was close to taking him also
A trip to hospital for a cut knee? Slashed with a boot stud maybe

Hopefully he's not out for a month, that would really suck. Was a great M8 on the weekend with his 70 odd.

Cruel if true. The days of good POD rookies been basically killed off and we somehow get a great one with 3.7% ownership who for a variety of reasons might have been hard for people to jump on, and it gets knocked over by injury.
Really, really annoying. Thought I was on a winner, 3% ownership, getting mid-time. With a couple of other must-haves, no one was even trading him in this round. Could have been a golden goose.

Worst part is, if he misses 2-3 three weeks, then punches out a couple of 80s, everyone will then be able to trade down to him.....

Probably trying to prevent infection, which kept Hurley out last year for a prolonged period, until he was put out to pasture.
Nah, in general you won't be admitted or taken to hospital to avoid infection - they're one of the worst locations for picking up ones. If he's been admitted for a cut, it'll be a pretty serious one where they'd likely have a concern over proximity to large blood vessels, or nerve or similar damage, or some other complication.

Also Geary. He went to hospital for a cut knee 2 or 3 seasons ago, and ended up in there 10 days from memory. That memory might be why the Saints are taking no chances.

It's driven by lawyers isn't it?
What about the rest of us who played sub VFL level? We all took our cue from the VFL

Those VFA boys certainly didn't muck around in the physicality stakes. Let alone the Footscray District League or the Ballarat League, to name a few.

The VFL was well taken care of in comparison, by a long way.

They are definitely only going after the entities which have money. It's not justice for all.

While they may not have been aware of all the risks, they were certainly aware of most of them.
I'd be interested to know what they think the AFL could have done differently to protect them from these injuries.
As Ken mentioned, some of the other Leagues were far more brutal than the AFL/VFL ever were. Should those Leagues now be basically sued into oblivion? There is a point where you have to accept the consequences of your own choices. A point where someone says, you knew there risks involved when you started. Will future AFL/Any League players be forced to sign a consent form/waiver, attesting to the fact, that they are aware of the risks and accept responsibility for them, every single game, before taking to the field?
The inevitable long term upshot, if this class action has any sort of success, is the end of football as we know it. There is a gladiatorial aspect to the game. Remove that, and the popularity will wane. You can't keep sanitizing a product, and expect people to accept it is the same product they have always loved.
