So he makes ~$160K.

If you have him now great.
If you don't have him you have to spend 1 trade to bring him in and 1 more for the cash so an average of ~$80K per trade.
Trades are worth less this year though, so maybe 80k per trade is good

The lack of low priced rookies early in the season (and the relative failure, so far, of those that turned up) also has the potential to change the numbers through the first part of the season. 2 trades for 160k (with potential to go higher) and on-field points...can certainly work.

By that rationale, you would almost never make a round 2 corrective trade.

The game as it currently stands demands not only that you generate that cash but that you do it faster than the other 100,000 players so that you can have the highest scoring players faster than anyone else. If you are interested in the title, then you have to take those risks and spend trades early

If you are just playing for leagues, then sure - provided you haven't drifted too far out of your 8 you can take your time to build a full squad with supersubs that are all in form come finals. This forum and it's advice is generally slanted to strategies for the overall.

Just playing Devil's advocate a bit. I definitely don't see Sheezel going 100+ every week. I don't think waiting a week is the worst idea, depending on teams forward structures. But hard to not see him being one of the better scoring rookies on the field in the early rounds.
Pretty rough on a bloke that has only played one game!

Not sure what is the bigger risk really ,sitting on your trades as Russty said he is thinking of with Jones and Fyfe or admitting a mistake, granted with limited data, and agressive trading to fix those mistakes like myself we both agree Stewart is a trade but I like 2 more I was heavily into preseason Daicos ,an out and out star and Cox ,a member of possibly the best def going inc.young and ryan.Time will tell

More information is always valuable but we can't be afraid to make judgments. It's a predictive game - we will never know enough to be sure.

Rule 1: First, do no harm
Rule 2: Protect the boost at all costs!
My boosts are made for walkin'
And that's just what they'll do
One of these days, my boosts are gonna walk all over you..

I overrated the value of protecting the boosts last season to be honest.

I saved them all for upgrade season thinking they would help me finish my team quicker, but I reached a point where I had traded out all of my peaked cash cows and needed to wait for my fresh cows to increase in value before I made more trades. Then the byes started where I could make 3 trades per week anyway and was able to finish my team.

I only ended up using 4 boosts in the end, so 1 boost went to waste that I wish I used to fix my team before Round 3 instead.

I'm very tempted to do Jones to Rampe. If he can score a 90+ v the Hawks, followed by a couple of 80's he makes about $90-100k by week5, and I'm not sweating on Wilmot or Cowan to score 50+ this week. Problem is, I don't have Callaghan, and if I make the Jones trade, I never will and he is far more importanter. Damn you SC!!!

I don't wanna, but Jelly is going out. He's either going to kick ass when he's back in or suck/get injured again if I've held (Murphy's Law). Either way, I'm going to get it wrong lol. Can't ignore Sheezel, even if? last week was inflated/outlier, duh I'll take ~70avg (just don't get injured hey)

Not sure for trade #2. Maybe Hopper out to a sweet premo (who though), 10 days ago I had faith to go to the byes-ish with him so reckon I gotta give it til round 2 at least (prob wrong though). Similar logic for Fyfe. Maybe Chesser up to a JHF or Gulden or RoMo up to Gawn or Clark up to Rioli/Naicos. Idfk. Holes everywhere and I'm just cheesed off cos most that I'm looking at trading in I had in my pretend 'team' before round 1 (what might've been...lol)

That's interesting. I am a firm believer in using them all in upgrade season, possibly including using one before RD6 to squeeze an extra premo in before the read upgrading starts. I didn't have any trouble using them last year, but I can see it might be possible that things fall that way.

Not a disaster if you use one now, but personally if I have 3 correction trades planned (and I do) I will do one this week to avoid using the boost unless I have to.

Pretty common issue for me, stick or twist.

I don't have Sheezel, and to a lesser extent Phillips, Chandler etc,
I don't have Cogs, Taranto, JHF, any of the 500k defenders.
I do have Flanders (F6), Callaghan (M6).
I do have Fyfe(F4), Bruhn (F5), and Hunter Clark (D3).
I do have Laird.

I'm torn between waiting next week on Sheezel and giving Fyfe, Bruhn etc. another go, vs. trying to get ahead of the reset and e.g. turning Fyfye (or Bruhn, Flanders) into Sheezel.

Have looked at a Laird swing out but I'm not really considering it this week.

Just on this point - it could be a nice strategic move, but I don't reckon we'll see a game like that from him again. I'm holding. Could use the price dip and get him back in later to correct a few rookies, but it could completely reverse next week. Just deal with the obvious ones in week 1.

If he puts in another stinker we'll know that something is wrong.

I think knowing that God awful score only is in the price cycle for one game makes it easy to sit on him this week.

Same logic for Fyfe and Jones.

Stewart is different and has to go but even he could be held for another look at trade in options if you are unsure on who to bring in and Kelly could be logically put in either camp.

Non Callaghan owners, with Jelly out for a week and Perryman injured (not sure for how long), is he now a serious trade in target for this week? cbas could be increasing from the one he had late in the game last weekend and their run is still pretty good.
I am seriously looking at this, think Callaghan will really benefit

Yeah I should note that I was aiming for the "perfect team" and generally brought in blue chip top 6 premium targets that were often quite expensive, rather than settling for value premiums.

That approach may have hurt my cash flow.
