Re: Trigger-happy traders, I guess it's easy at this time of year and people forget how fickle the SC gods can be in August/September!
We got very lucky last year with premos playing out the year and not missing games etc, somehow I doubt that will be the case again.

I've made 4 trades (inc a boost) and am pretty dirty on myself, not sure how people are considering/justifying using a 2nd or 3rd boost already!
Anyway, will be eagerly awaiting the NTLC thread pre-byes ;)

Think I'll skip Rowston/Phillips this week (I'm assuming Phillips makes way for Simpkin/LDU anyway, but if Phillips is retained with both of those coming back, he could come into contention)

I'll probably let my loops dictate some of my trades this week (I love short term points )

If Wilmot scores poorly, I could look at getting Day (or Liam Baker  ) in, moving Constable to the mids. (Can't see Constable back this week)

If Hollands scores poorly, I could look at getting Hopper back in ( ) via Fergus Greene. Realistically this is the trade I could make, as he's probably the only expendable rookie (still has a -13 BE though so will miss some cash)

I don't like sitting on $195K in the bank. If Hollands scores well, I could still make the Fergus Greene > Hopper move, but would be benching Chandler (who I haven't had on the field yet zzzz)
I started Chandler and haven't fielded him yet either.

I agree that using a 3rd boost this week is a bit much, but not sure that using a 2nd is an issue. There's 8 weeks to the byes, which gives about 1 boost every 2 weeks to get to the byes. I don't think having 3 over the next 7 weeks is much of an issue, as long as you can justify the trades and aren't just using one because its available.

I think the question would need to be, who are you looking at trading Grundy to possibly in a few weeks? If it’s anyone but Gawn and Cameron I don’t see how it’s really worth it. English and Witts might not drop in price much if at all. I’m in the same boat and I can fathom a scenario where trading in Grundy makes sense really. I also worry if I was planning on going to Gawn in a few weeks that he’ll be eased back in and potentially miss games if a rest is needed to keep him fresh for the run home.

English I worry about injury but each week I worry and let him slide puts me further behind in points and him further out of reach. Witts I was keen on at the start, should’ve, could’ve, would’ve but didn’t as I really wanted his first couple of match ups. Now his harder run starts.

I can’t see any other option out of English and Witts.
Thanks for the input.

If I take English then, for the foreseeable future, I'll need to run a backline of:
Daicos, Ridley, Ginbey, Cole, Wilmot, Cowan (Chesser, Constable)

Cowan at D6 is bothersome with Chesser & Constable looking unlikely to have the confidence in either to play short-term.

Taking Grundy frees up an extra 100k & allows me to get a look at Stewart next week (flicking Worpel) after he depreciates in price by shifting either Chesser or Constable back into the mids.

Correcto.

You sack Docherty for Laird, not Oliver. Laird has had his price drop ;)

But yeah... Doc probably won't be a top 6 defender this year and I'll have to punt him at some stage. 2 ACLs, cancer, developed by Brisbane under Vossy and so on. He's unlikely to have crazy longevity and he's 30 at the end of the season. Perhaps his decline is starting a year earlier than for some

Reckon he'll have a pretty decent run of games at some stage this year though so I'll hold on until they come round. He's one of the ones contributing to my round 15 bye issues so I may as well hold him til then and maybe slingshot out of him then
39 touches and 3rd in the coaches votes but he's on the decline?

Darcy Cameron to Daicos.

Just like those injured before you, thanks for your one game DC. Luckily Daicos plays such a bruise free game he can't possibly get injured.

I'm in a similar conundrum.

Going DCam to Grundy is the money priority option allowing you to run the extra $100k into another worthy upgrade. Caveat is that it's a short term rental.

Going DCam to English/Witts is the score priority option near guaranteeing an R1 that tonnes up weekly.

I still have 4 boosts and a Finn Callaghan remaining, I've got so much to consider. Lol

I just don't know - guess I will go with the pack and bring in Phillips and English and say good bye to Darcy II and Callaghan

I need to fix some major leaks in my team:

Currently:

Docherty, Cumming, Ridley, Daicos, McKenna, Wilmont (Chesser, Cowan)
Bont, Petracca, Worpel, Callaghan, Hopper, Ashcroft, Ginbey, Mackenzie (Phillipou, Baker, Constable)
Darcy, Marshall (Rategulea)
Dunkley, Taranto, Rozee, Gulden, JHF, Sheezel (Chandler, Madden)

Current Bank $122,000

Thinking trades:

Docherty, Worpel, Callaghan to Titch, Green, Phillips

Would leave:

Daicos, Cumming, Ridley, Ginbey, McKenna, Wilmont (Chesser, Cowan)
Bont, Petracca, Green, Titch, Hopper, Ashcroft, Phillips, Mackenzie (Phillipou, Baker, Constable)
Darcy, Marshall (Rategulea)
Dunkley, Taranto, Rozee, Gulden, JHF, Sheezel (Chandler, Madden)

Current ranking is 60k, so feel, I'm not going to get any where playing the long game.

Docherty is effectively collateral damage, but if he can turn it around, he can always be traded in later again as a normal upgrade.

Ideally Oliver would come in, but the only way to get him is to go Oliver and Setterfield as an alternative, but would still have to deal with Setterfield later as he is unlikely to be a 'keeper'.
FWIW, I've cooled down and will suck Docherty up.

But nothing will save Callaghan and Worpel 🤪

Anyone think Sean Darcy is a hold after the weekend?

I wanted to move him to English last week, but had other priorities with all the cash cows on the bubble. He was almost guaranteed to score well against West Coast.

Thinking of still moving him to English, but keen to hear other thoughts.

Has really only had 1 bad half of footy, plus who do we trade to? No one really demanding selection imo.
It's a hold for me.

Yep. You'll see. It'll be a gentle decline at first until it isn't. Some start at 28, some start at 30 but few just hit the wall

Out: D.Cameron, JHFrancis
In: N.Daicos, Phillips + $166,000

To cover trading JHF in mid ,loop Baker(WBulldogs) and Phillips with Uwland(moved to mid)

Move Chandler on field in Forward line to cover trading Cameron.

Loop Wilmont and L.Jones in backline with Constable after adding N.Daicos.

Other option is Out: Cameron + JHF , In Phillips and Laird

I think you can safely get rid of Shrek for English. English is in a tier of his own, his scoring profile is so varied when you compare him to the other "premo" rucks. There's a number of things going on with Freo and Darcy that put him a tier or two below English.

People will argue about the durability but Shrek isn't exactly durable and has been laboring at stages in games this season to my eye, the strapping around the knee probably means there's some chronic issue there.

Non English owners are banking on an injury at some stage, but at current pace it might not matter: English could be around the $700k mark in a month or so, even if he gets injured owners will be ahead on points, can just downgrade to the next best option and bank a sizeable amount for a valuable upgrade elsewhere.

This could well be like not owning Gawn at his peak, and English dumped 134 points on both Gawn and Grundy even while his own team got smashed by the Demons. Then back to back 139s against tough matchups, in one of them his team drubbed again. He hasn't even kicked a goal yet this season.

I think his average could well dip a bit this week in the wet against a fast-paced Tigers team, but its not going to be by much.

He has Lycett twice, ROB, TDK, Reeves, Goldy/Xerri, Matt Flynn, Ceglar/Stanley before the bye, with a Witts and Darcy matchup each in there too.

For non-owners, it could get out of hand very quickly in the next month or two. I've had one season I remember in particular where I didn't own peak Gawn. Never again. Week after week of him just dumping 30 points or more on my "premo" alternative. Made it a very long and unenjoyable Supercoach season.
