Think I'm set on Touk even ahead of Laird. Is building into the season nicely, his tackle numbers are up on this time last season and the Suns have a decent draw to come. Might be a bit of a pod as well.

Not sure when Steele is back but will be targeting Sinclair soon as well, preferably when Steele returns, playing more in the midfield isn't great for Sinclair's scoring.

I agree with your concern in isolation, however, I see it as more of a spread or balance of your current Keepers which is the main issue.

Ridley currently occupy D2; Hopper at M5 plus SEVEN forwards (JZ & Sheezle counted for now). I suspect that you've been losing your H2H battle via your Def line as your Ridley has been up against a Dawson type and possibly your D3 (Michalanney) up against another Keeper.

First thing I would do is to use the recent DPP additions to rebalance your structure (by moving players around through their DPPs), then assess where you need to upgrade to best benefit your team. I'll get it to something like the below...

D: Daicos Ziebell* Sheezle* Ridley Michalanney McKenna | Cowan Constable*
M: Oliver Bont LDU Petracca Hopper Ashcroft Ginbey* Wilmot* | Baker Long* Chesser*
R: Darcy Marshall | Madden*
F: Dunkley* Taranto* Rozee* Gulden* JHF* Chandler | Ratugolea* JVR

It doesn't look too bad now with Ridley at D4, Hopper at M5 & JHF at F5.

Chandler, Baker & Long to Roberts & Williams leaves you with $534,500 (based off your proposed trade in post #234) for the upgrade. You can afford LLoyd but have to raise more $$$ (Ginbey over a Baker/Long) to get to Sinclair. As for a forward, you can afford anyone except for Cameron and Moore.

Let's say you use Ginbey in lieu of Long in the above, this will increase your bank to $588,000 for that upgrade which opens up some MID options for you (not the Neale/Laird which you desire): Serong, Cripps, Parish, JKelly, Macrae

Anyways, I feel that your team is not as dire as first thought. Yes, you're missing a couple of blue chip premiums right now, however, the overall balance (after restructuring) is okay PLUS you have a good core group of cash cows to allow you to gradually chip away at improving your team and overall scoring potential.
And that's what sets SCS above the rest Comprehensive thought out logic .Well done sir

Think it has to be:
Baker -> M.Johnson
Ginbey/Chandler -> T.Miller

Chandler has lower BE but Ginbey scoring potential and job security looks better.

However, with one going next week most likely anyway, I'll move on the one with the much higher BE.

Team then looks like this (Green bench for the week). Will have a loop of M.Johnson/Wilmot (via T.Green) and Greene/Chandler (if A.Davey misses again and M.Johnson is poor Friday night):

Not sure if I should do a boost or not to bring another rookie in (Roberts) or not.

Next week thinking:

McKenna -> W.Day
Chandler -> S.Mitchell

That's why I'm thinking do I boost for a rookie on the bubble this week as there may not be a second one to boost to next week...?

In saying that, not sure I want another downgrade next week anyway when I won't have any other rookies that will have maxed out yet with cashing in Baker, Ginbey, McKenna, Chandler already.

Am I crazy to trade Macrae to Dawson? It's the only way I can get Dawson in. I feel we are going to bite the bullet with him and pay up or else fall behind.

Looking at a double downgrade this week:
Cowan & Mackenzie -> Roberts & Williams.

Puts 270k itb for an upgrade next week.
Can you upgrade this week? Basically, if you keep upgrading over the next few weeks you are gaining, say, 50ppg by upgrading this week over someone who delays to next week (incremental points of a premium over a rookie). This 50 points will continue until other coaches finish their team (all other things being equal).

Seen this asked a few times.

I am a little different to most, I would go:

Neale: Highest upside (134 season), 3 of past for over 120, BE90. Probably go up 10k this week, another 20k the following.
Touk: Last two seasons above 120, started under injury cloud, looks to be working way back to best. BE112, might go up 5k.
Laird: : Last season brilliant Gun. Should get back there with closer attention to dawson, higher BE can wait a week.

Is Bont in this convo, or due to never averaging 120 plus.. seen as a level below?
He probably already has Bont.

Neale I am worried about from an SC POV. Last year, with Lyons slowing (even if it was injury related), Neale was generally the first Lions player to get his hands to the ball. McCluggage could do it to a degree but it was a fraction of the time, and other guys who rotated through like Bailey or Robertson weren't doing it either. Now Dunkley and Ashcroft both can get their hands to the ball as well as McCluggage not going away either, so it's not that Neale is taking a backseat but it's more that he doesn't have to do absolutely everything himself. He'll probably still finish as a top 8 midfielder but I don't think he'll be top three.

He may well have bont, seen the question asked by multiple people.

So was wondering, are they all asking as they don't see Bont in the convo with Neale/Touk/Laird.. or everyone started with him!

Anyone concerned how a lack of Witts might impact on Touk?

I could by taking a boost, but I'm reluctant to cull any more rookies atm as they still have a fair bit of cash to make.
It's also fair to say that none of the premos I'd be able to afford would give me 50ppg over the extra rookie I'd be culling.

First genuine upgrade, sadly 2k short of getting Williams over Wagner. Could get Sinclair instead of Stewart but he's not exciting me as a pick.

Thoughts?
I’ve got the same three outs, but going with the triple downgrade. Only concern is it’s a Stewart home game…I’m a fan of brining him in for that!

Jeez it feels weird bringing Ziebell in now but might still be the right call. Reckon if Hall is named I’ll give him a miss and grab Lloyd or Cogs/Butters instead.

Ginbey & Chandler - thanks for your service.

Edit: Actually looking at Melbourne's fixture, might be correct to keep Chandler through their next 3 games... Baker and Ginbey it is.

Definitely a boost week! It's been a difficult decision but pending team sheets:

Ginbey/Hopper/O. Baker > Clarry/D. Williams/Roberts/$88k

Who's first on the chopping block between Baker and Chandler?

Why are you trading Hopper after he scored 115 on the weekend/ BE of 46 ? I thought he looked very good on the weekend, after he plays Melbourne this week he has the suns & WCE - I would be holding him if possible.

I'm just needing the cash to be honest. I don't particularly want to sell him but I'm looking a bit threadbare as I've got Green and Day giving me donuts this week. My reasoning is that I'm hoping to have Day in the back at the end of the season, so it's forced me to sell Hopper early.

It's a good point though, it's made me think. To get the team I want to work towards I might have to sell Ashcroft instead, which I'm thinking makes more sense.

Edit: Yep, I'm an idiot. This is why this forum is such a valuable resource for me, lol.

Touk has a nice bye as well, i'm looking to grab him a few weeks before the byes start. Wanted Butters, but realised i had like 15 players on that bye round!!
