Think I'll be bringing in Atkins. Didn't like it originally but it makes sense the more I look at it.

Perfect bye. Best scoring potential out of all the trade-in options this week. JS may be poor but so is every other rookie's.

I think getting a quick $120k-$150k out of him before the byes would be a win. Makes him an easy upgrade.

EDIT: Unless he's dropped this week of course...

You still have that $100k you're just delaying it's use.

That 100k is about 18ppg so Atkins may benefit if you are fielding a **** rookie and gives you that difference.
Delaying use of funds right in the middle of upgrade season when most are struggling to complete a side already is a weird tactic to me but wish people well that go down that path, I'd much rather pick a rookie that won't average much less, can generate the same money(lot less required out of a 102-130k rookie) and put that 100k into a top line premium over a maybe that everyone seems to be talking themselves into picking.

And which one of these rookies are you banking on who "won't average much less" considering the ones coming through don't look like great scorers?

Drury scored 40 in a half on debut and did some very good things early, theres been far worse basement rookies and think he has plenty of upside, least he wont get dropped in a side that has injuries and needs to pump games into the kids.

I dont see Knevitt as the worst option either depending on teams, mid time could very well open up, Coach and Hawkins pumped him up during the week and has a run of Richmond,Freo and GWS who arent exactly flying.

Seen a few people trading Ashcroft, get that he's probably not going to make a lot more money but I can't see him losing much either.
I think he's a necessary hold for the byes for me. Best scoring of a rookie mid and with the carnage in some of those bye rounds I think we'll need deeper benches than we think.

Mid Only - Averaging 102.8 last 5
Oh I didn't see he was mid only. I'd find it hard to justify picking Max Holmes personally but would be a fun pick and could even work into the season a bit and have a mini-breakout. Good luck with the pick if you decide to take him!

Can any Carlton fans elucidate to me why Adam Cerra is scoring really nicely over the last 3/4 weeks. What's changed with his role?
Nope I can’t, can’t explain much about Carlton atm. Cerra playing a bit more inside with Walsh building but not a lot of different to last year. Both the x Freo lads playing very good football, but team still rubbish.

Wines had a calf issue which he's been managed during games, think I saw that his cba's increased from 33% in round 7 to just over 50% in round 8. Kick to handball ratio is skewed to handball, not sure if that's managing the calf complaint or doing the gruntwork. He had a very slow 1st half last week, but built nicely into it in the 2nd half. Hope he comes good now. Ken has said he's doing a job for the team. Does this mean he's played out of position? So JHF & Rozee get a run in the middle?

As someone who watches the Port games quite closely I would avoid Wines. He doesn't look like the same player as his Brownlow year or even last year for that matter. Read somewhere on the Port BF board that he has stated that still has issues with the knee injury he had in pre-season. Also being used a lot less as Rozee, Butters, Drew and JHF become more prominent in the midfield.

Kicking and disposal efficiency has historically been below average and thus reliant on accumulating a large amount of the ball. Not a noted goal kicker, contested marker or tackler to help balance out those low disposal/ poor efficiency games. Lack of premium scoring history for a midfielder and could only muster a 110+ average thanks to 32 disposals per game in his Brownlow season. Wouldn’t consider as a midfielder only, when players on other lines around a similar price range could be keepers given the lower requirements or cheaper players as cash grabs, etc which he fits neither.

Great assessment from @Brookesy as well.

It’s an interesting decision really, still 3 more rounds before the bye so a poor score this week and he could actually start losing some money. If he scores fine (let’s say 85) then definitely not much of an issue losing $ and can provide decent bye coverage.

I’d rather have as many premiums as I can during the bye rounds and while he’s still probably the best rookie on team’s fields (not counting Sheezel of course) - I think he’s expendable.

Also having the first bye round isn’t that great, and no-one will really need him for the second bye round (only missing Suns/Cats players) so his main benefit is Round 14/15 coverage. Has Swans/Saints in those two rounds so I’m not going out of my way to hold him just for those weeks.

(I’ve basically convinced myself he’s gone this week now :ROFLMAO: )

I don't really trust Rory Atkins job security but I also have GC players Uwland and Constable in defence, so chances are one of the 3 will get a game each week.
I don't really understand why anyone's picking him, is it because he averaged 75 or so 4 or 5 years ago? He'll only have to be traded out again anyhoo even if he maintains that average now.
