Thanks Geelong for implementing a non-standard estimated return date...short/medium/long term, please - wth does that mean in terms of weeks?!

Ahem. Sorry, it is Friday afternoon...

Ablett still listed as returning in 1-2 weeks. Who is brave enough to keep him in their team if he doesn't have a pre-season? Who is brave enough not to keep him in their team even if he doesn't have a pre-season?
The worst possible decision. I am not even confident at Rocky at M2. I don't this about Ablett.

I suspect it will mean a few players will get more midfield time. Griffen + Cooney gone and Libba out for the season will give a lot of players a chance to step up in the mids.
Those three were pretty much our midfield. Apart from Wallis, Macrae and previously Boyd, no idea who else but The Bont

Eagerly awaiting confirmation of the severity of Stef Martin's knee injury. No news coming out of the Lions camp so far today.

Just been reading the Bigfooty Freo page. Some interesting theories on Crowley but the most interesting thing I read is that Suban or de boer are likely to play his tagging role.

Yeah right on, berger becomes very relevant if he's out.
Super keen to find out as did a trade a few days back with Leunberger in keeper league and got him from Batters.
So I got two fantasy games hanging out to find if Stefan Martin is screwed. If he is, that trade I did just before all this happened is gold to me in terms of timing. I suspect if Stefan Martin out for any extended time then Berger man will become a lock for me in supercoach too.

2015 flag will be 'hardest': Hawks president
BRENDAN Whitecross will play his first game since September 2013 when he returns from his second knee reconstruction with Hawthorn's VFL affiliate Box Hill on Saturday.

Whitecross has not played since the Hawks' 2013 preliminary final win over Geelong, when he ruptured his right anterior cruciate ligament for the second time in a year.

But AFL.com.au understands the 25-year-old utility will make his long-awaited comeback for the Box Hill Hawks in a practice match against Casey at Casey Fields on Saturday.

Hawks assistant coach Cameron Bruce said last Sunday that Whitecross could play in the Hawks' final NAB Challenge game against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium next Thursday (March 19).

"The supporters enjoy Brendan being out there, the players certainly do, he offers a lot of versatility to our line-up and it's important that you get those players back," Bruce said after Hawthorn's NAB Challenge loss to North Melbourne.

"He's experienced, he knows the set-ups, he'll be hungry there's no doubt about that.

"I think we've seen that with a guy like Jed Anderson, guys that miss a lot of footy come in and provide real energy and enthusiasm, so it will be a big plus to get him out there."

Whitecross' horror run of injuries has so far cost him the chance to play in a Grand Final, let alone a premiership, with the Hawks.

The versatile Queenslander had established himself as a regular senior player in 2011-12, but he was part of the 2011 preliminary final team that was pipped by three points by Collingwood and then ruptured his ACL for the first time in the Hawks' qualifying final win over the Pies a year later.

Whitecross was just 12 games into his comeback from that injury when his ACL gave way again, one week before the Hawks' 2013 Grand Final triumph over Fremantle.

The 84-game player is set to become a free agent at the end of this season.

Brendan Whitecross is a $258,000 defender in NAB AFL Fantasy this year. Set up a live draft and take on your mates in Fantasy Elite now

Would the affect Yeo's chances in the midfield I wonder?
No effect from Selwood playing but Yeo hasn't quite played the midfield minutes so far we expected him to, This is mainly due to the Waters/E-Mac injuries and Simpson resting Schofield/Hurn in the past 2 matches.

Yeo will play a lot of midfield this year but maybe not permanently like we hoped. I can see him switching between HB and the midfield as needed. In the Port game Matty Rosa played at CHB instead of on the wing. There is a bit of talk he will play a fair bit on the HB line this year so that would help Yeo and allow him to play more midfield.

The Freo game next week will help as a lot as it will be a full dress rehearsal for round 1 according to Simpson.
