Anyone know what Jack Steven is likely to be worth?

Looks like he will be in cats colours next season and if he is cheap enough and looking skinny/fit in the preseason he might be worth a punt early on as a short term upgrade type.

If fit worth putting in that Ward basket I reckon.
Magic Number this year was 5428.5 , so that by his average.

Then factor in a discount for less than 8 games.

Interesting, he was only $103k this year. Worth the extra though I reckon :)
Was in the Advertiser on Monday or Tuesday , can't recall the exact wording but $ 123,900.00 is the base price for players on a club list that haven't debuted in the Home & Away season.

Obviously they could change their mind and make his starting price close to Rowell.

I used him as a cheap starting pick in 2015 and he was great ... started at $456k and got to $593k at the bye while averaging around 110. I think I slingshotted him at the right time too, averaged under 100 in the second half.

Worth a look if he’s fit, albeit he hasn’t averaged 100 since 2016. I’m hoping Menegola gets a fair bit more mid time too :)

@Darkie

Article appeared on Sunday but one of those subscriber only ones online , someone might be able to access it and copy & paste.

Google Pickett SuperCoach Price 2020
Thanks mate, just tried this but to no avail.

To be honest I’d probably start him at $200k if he has a spot round 1, so anything under that is really just a bonus!

All depends on the other rookies that show up but Rowell , Anderson & Pickett seems a good base to work from for M6-8.

I guess Ellis leaving helps , but Graham , McIntosh , Rance , Ross + a few others are probably in the mix for a spot as well.

Where is @Presto ?

I think he might be the one that can copy & paste all the Herald Sun Articles.

Exactly, need to see how they look like lining up in round one, albeit my sense was they weren’t missing a lot of mid talent on GF day. Rance obviously needs to come in, of course.

That said, no premiership side has ever taken the field all together again, so history probably points to multiple changes by the time we get to round one.

Ta-da.

It’s official! Despite scintillating grand final debut, Marlion Pickett will be available at rookie-price in SuperCoach next year

It’s official, the player who was third in Norm Smith Medal voting in Saturday’s grand final will start the 2020 SuperCoach season at rookie-price.
In his first AFL game, Marlion Pickett tallied 22 disposals, eight contested possessions, one goal and 96 SuperCoach points in the 89-point drubbing of the Giants and will be priced in a similar way to former South Fremantle teammate Tim Kelly in 2018.

Peter Jankulovski, managing director at Vapormedia — the company responsible for Virtualsports — confirmed what SuperCoaches wanted to hear following the 27-year-old’s scintillating debut.

“He will likely be priced at the $123,900 mark, which is the standard for two-plus-year rookies or players on lists who had not made their debut,” Jankulovski said. While Pickett will head into 2020 with one game to his name, he is yet to make his SuperCoach debut, a competition which runs purely in the home-and-away season. “I don’t think yesterday will account for much and we’ll stick with the usual methodology,” Jankulovski said of the pricing formula which is based around regular season numbers.

While he can also play at half-back, Pickett, whose rise has been a remarkable one, is likely to be again classified as a midfielder-only, as he was in July this year after Richmond swooped in the mid-season draft. And, all going to plan, like Kelly’s did in his debut season, Pickett’s price is likely to skyrocket very quickly, if his grand final performance is anything to go by. The smooth-moving midfielder finished with 560 metres gained — only teammates Jason Castagna and Nick Vlastuin recorded more — and was one of only three players on the ground to not register a clanger.

“He’s just so composed with the ball. He was incredible really, the way he went about it,” coach Damian Hardwick said post-match. A week earlier, Pickett won the Norm Goss Medal as the best player on-the-ground in the VFL grand final after 20 disposals, 11 contested possessions, nine tackles, four score involvements and 123 SuperCoach points.

He’s a player who can have a huge influence, even with limited possession. It’s a part of his game South Fremantle coach Todd Curley, who had both Pickett and Kelly in his side in 2017, highlighted on the AFL website last November. “Tim has the ability, which we probably saw this year, to accumulate consistently big numbers,” Curley said. “(But) Marlion can have a big impact on a game with probably not as many possessions just through the way he attacks the ball.” And it’s a crucial trait to have if he’s going to be a consistent SuperCoach scorer next year.

As Kelly made his way to the next level — and averaged 93 SuperCoach points in his first season to rise by $346k — Pickett assumed the Geelong star’s midfield role in the WAFL, averaging 22 disposals per game in 2018. It surprised some that he wasn’t taken in last year’s draft, despite an enormous 26-disposal, four-goal performance in his side’s qualifying final victory. But everyone, including SuperCoaches, are happy with that way it’s worked out.Just less than 50 per cent of SuperCoach teams featured Kelly, who was yet to be seen at AFL level, in Round 1, 2018, Expect Pickett’s ownership percentage to eclipse that number in March next year.

@Connoisseur

I thought you would be too busy with NFL , NBA & EPL planning & Big Bash price estimates ?

Thanks for posting the article
Don’t forget NBL and SC Racing. ;)

Thought I’d give it an attempt at trying to access the article via the potential shortcuts and was lucky to get through.

I found the article but couldn't access the whole thing due to not being a subscriber. I can often get around it for HS articles but it didn't work for me with the Advertiser.

I was just reading through the earlier comment about introducing key position players into SC, and how it could possibly work given there is unlikely to be different scoring for different players (even though that seems to work in the Sports Deck EPL game). I quite like the idea of setting a height limitation to separate Key Position players from general forwards or defenders.

So, I thought I would throw this idea out there for thought (or shooting down)! Bare with me as I try to explain!

I tried to follow the 6-6-6 format that the AFL currently runs with. Each team has 18 on field players plus chooses 4 interchange players from the 12 bench players. Squads remain at 30 players.

Defender: 5 on field (+ 2 on bench)
Key Defender: 1 on field (+ 2 on bench)
Midfielder: 5 on field (+ 2 on bench)
Ruck: 1 on field (+ 2 on bench)
Forward: 5 on field (+ 2 on bench)
Key Forward: 1 on field (+ 2 on bench)

Each team chooses 18 players on field plus nominates 4 interchange players that can be made up from any combination of the 12 bench players to bring team up to 22 players. (Similar to the NRL SC game)

If a player is a late out (or you want to play a loop), you get the lower playing score of your two bench players for that position. In the event that your bench players aren’t playing or you are using both bench players in that position as interchange players, you get the lowest playing bench score from the rest of your team who is not selected as one of your interchange players.

You could still play a deliberate donut for VC loopholing. Eg. If you went with a ruck donut, field your R3 donut, assign your R2 as one of your interchange, then you will get your R1 as your bench score to replace your donut. If, for arguments sake, your R2 was a late out, at least you would still get your lowest bench score from another position.

I feel this could work and is a little bit less harsh than the current system that can give us donuts for late outs. A lowest score is better than a donut, and could make bye rounds not as brutal? It also forces us to take up to 6 Key Position players into our teams.

Hope it makes sense ... just thought I would would throw it out there for thought!
