Tom Jonas, Robbie Gray and Sam Powell-Pepper have been ruled out of the club’s practice game against Adelaide on Saturday.

Jonas will be managed through the two games against the Crows after playing a full game in the recent internal trial.

Gray suffered a deep cut to his lip at training last week which required stitches and will be given time for the injury to heal.

Midfielder Sam Powell-Pepper has had a surgical procedure to relieve the swelling in his right hand after breaking a bone at training last week.

Connor Rozee saw a specialist in Sydney on Thursday for an opinion regarding a new issue with a joint in his foot.

The club will continue to monitor and manage the issue but he is available to face the Crows.

He's in that Heppell / Hately price bracket. Worth a look if he's going to be part of the core starting mids. I guess the opportunities are there and clearly he was that guy today. Just not sure if he's got a form line for the premium scores. Averaged 80 from 8 games in 2018. In 2019, he came into the side in Rd 12 and punched out 103 v Melb only to follow that with a whole bunch of putrid sub 50 scores. Not sure if he was playing a tagging / run with role or just not getting the opportunities. Last year he played only 3 games in the middle of the year (47, 97, 75). I had him in one of my earlier drafts but Hately and then Heppell took his spot. He'd want to produce some sparkling form in the AAMI Community Series game to make it back in

I'm confused with Rozee's foot. Serious enough to go all the way interstate to see a specialist, but his foot is not bad enough to play against the Crows

It was reported that Rozee's 'heel' injury limited his impact last year. So, if the club will continue to monitor and manage the issue, does that mean he will have limited impact this year also?

I hope the practice game tomorrow will give some answers.

The clubs don't always reveal the entire truth though to the media.

@BigRuss will probably know a lot more than what the public is being told.

Joe Daniher will make his first appearance as a Lion tomorrow.
The boom recruit takes his place in a near full strength side for the practice match against the Suns at Metricon Stadium.
The Lions have named a 25-man squad that includes Brownlow medalist Lachie Neale and skipper Dayne Zorko who have both returned to full training after modified pre-season programs.
Ely Smith, Keidean Coleman, Rhys Mathieson, Tom Fullarton and Irishman James Madden have all been given the opportunity to press their claims for a round one position by being named in the senior side.
The side to play in the reserves curtain raiser features the likes of Mitch Robinson, Marcus Adams, Cam Ellis-Yolmen and new faces Blake Coleman, Henry Smith, Harry Sharp, Carter Michael and Deividas Uosis.
Darcy Gardiner is the one established senior player who will not play as he continues to work his way back to full fitness from a knee injury suffered prior to last season’s preliminary final.
New recruit Nakia Cockatoo is the other player with senior experience who will not take part.

Big watch on Ely Smith, would be very handy if he is playing round 1 - interesting on Robbo, looks under real pressure to keep his spot in the 22.

Interesting that Cockatoo who is injured (hammy) is still the most popular selection overall.

A bloke with foot issues this close to the season starting is just a dead set avoid.
