I think you have to go 5-0-1 or 2-3-1 to create $$$ for other positions.

If you look at Dow , Campbell , Powell M6-8 & ZDIC up forward that's 8 onfield rookies.

Need some of these $ 123,900.00 guys to start putting their hands up for spots.

Hard (impossible) having 4 x $ 600k + mids plus Cripps and still having Gawn & Grundy unless you go another 1-2 rookies forward but then have 10 upgrades (at least) to do + 2-3 others , you are not leaving many trades left for issues.
Definitely struggling with this, I've got 18 rookies right now and the average cost is 150k and that's with several really cheap guys I don't think play.

Finding it really hard to get 5 mids and both rucks into the side because right now the backs are really bending me over with the lack of rookies and pretty sure I'm going to have to go with 5 premiums which isn't something I mind except that the midfield rookies get really thin, really fast if you're looking for more.

Agree, if you go 5 DEF premiums, cant see how you fit in 4 premium mids if your fielding Gawn and Grundy

You will need to define your definition of premiums at each position for us to judge.

5 Keepers at DEF, 5 MID, 2 RUC and 1 FWD is what most have found easy enough. Extending beyond this is most peoples problem.

The team I put together with that has Cox,Campbell,Powell,Downie,Ziebell,Daniher,Dow,Cahill,Rowe but is able to bring in Impey for Cahill,Dow or Powell. 9 Rookie price but 3 are seniors if u include Impey so shouldn't lose spots. Would be a handy side if all ZDI guys can get to 350-375k on average. Think you should be able to get a few of the Sidebottom,Zorko,Martin,Dunkley types for around 480k.

To me even :-

Cox / who knows , who knows

Dow , Campbell , Powell / the 3
x $ 117k ones

Ziebell , Daniher , Impey , Cahill / Rowe , Waterman

looks to many onfield to start , let alone another 1-2

Ely Smith maybe , possibly another half a dozen cheapies have been covered in the forward line

even if every bench downgrade went right you are up to about 20 trades.

Gawn & Grundy then leaves you essentially $ 6 million for 12 players so say you pick Williams , Taranto & Heeney they could end up compromised D6 , M8 & F6 unless you have "spare" trades for luxury trades.

Go down a level to Harmes , Green & Caldwell and they are probably all going to be upgraded anyway , more trades to use.

Same again if you go Harmes , Cumming & Young in defence another 3 trades but at least it gives you "extra" dollars to start 3-4 $ 600k mids.

12-0-10 is easy enough but too many onfield rookies

10-4-8 then becomes a squeeze and end up needing to use more trades in any case.

just keep moving the pieces around

Ok I have been using Downie & Rowe as my bench options at the moment and including Impey onfield.

Maybe that creates some $$$ removing out one of Ziebell , Daniher , Impey or Dow.

Just need to find a viable alternative.

That's my thinking try and maybe pick the D and F premiums up for $ 475-525k where possible.

Bye time their always seem to be 1-2 fallen premium mids available for about $ 525 k ish.

D: $ 550k x 5 = $ 2,750,000.00
M: $ 625k x 4 = $ 2,500,000.00
Cripps $ 525,000
Gawn & Grundy = $ 1,400,000.00
Heeney $ 450,000.00

= $ 7,625,000.00

Bench = $ 1,000,000.00

up to $ 8,625,000.00

9 onfield players needed with $ 1,375,000.00 = $ 152,777.00 per player

I guess without Ziebell , Daniher , Impey , Dow is one way of doing it , no idea who to use instead though.

So something like

Crisp , Short , McDonald , May , Docherty

Merrett , Danger , Boak , Laird , Cripps

Gawn , Grundy

Heeney

Gives you 13

Cox
Dow , Campbell , Powell
Ziebell , Daniher , Impey , Cahill , Henry

+ Bench

gives you $ 300.00 spare

Defence looks sub standard , no way you are getting a 14th premium

EDIT

Would need to try and downgrade Ziebell , Daniher , Impey , Dow (no idea who to) to improve the defenders in all likelihood and try and get up to a Steele , Oliver , Macrae price type in the mids

Or if another rookie defender presents as a viable onfield option hallelujah and everything will change again.

Still think it's pretty easy to get 13 premiums. The rookies are starting to show themselves, only they're skewed forward so the structure has to accomodate that. There are about 6-7 rookie slots where you're not sure who will be selected, but you can be reasonably confident that someone will be.
