I have gaff also. Although I’m disappointed with the score I am more concerned about how his normal running patterns where ignored and his field positions had him chasing the ball most of the game.

Do we give him one more week? Currently this is my thinking as he is in the team for his durability until the byes.

Danger to Titch already done via Campbell.
Gaff has had at least two games under 85 in each of the last 3 seasons, he's prone to a couple of bad games a year. He's ticked it off this year in the best possible round to have it.

Do you think the Eagles style has fundamentally changed? Does he seems unfit or injured?

Otherwise, it's a bad week and you'd give him a solid 6 weeks to prove he's not a premium. You picked him because you thought he's a ~110 guy who has as good an injury history as anyone.

D: Lloyd, Laird, Daniel, Koschitzke, Highmore, Sharp (Williams, A Fyfe)
M: Neale, Oliver, Merrett, Cripps, T Kelly Taranto, Berry, Gulden (Bruhn, Powell, Brockman)
R: Gawn (c),Grundy (Flynn)
F: Dunkley, Ziebell, Campbell, Cox, Rowe, Scott ( Bergman, Treacy)

Score: 2013
Rank: 20,325
Heroes: Daniel, Laird, Gulden, Taranto, Telly, Merrett, Oliver, Rowe, Ziebell, Dunkley, Flynn on bench.
Villians: Cripps, Neale, Grundy, Gawn
Trades: None planned barring unexpected team changes/injuries
Comments: No strong feelings on this result, maybe I set the round 1 bar too low but happy to have topped 2k. Thanks to those on the X v Y thread that pushed me towards Taranto when Witherden needed to be cut, alternatives given were Duggan and B Hill so this on one weeks scores was the right call.
Had planned the one donut in Treacy thinking Marshall will be an upgrade target in due course, Flynn is purely a cash cow, while his points would have been nice I was never going to bench 648k or 751k for his score and won't this week either.
Second donut in Fyfe mainly came about due to being called unexpectedly to work but that's life.
Surprised at reading through the teams on this thread that I seem to be the only team that kept Williams and has Telly.
Good luck all moving forward and add my shout out to @Herbie66 for his excellent start although I did notice that he's (only) second in the SCS group, while I make my run from 77th

D: Lloyd, Laird, Daniel, Stewart, Short, Highmore // Kosi*, Sharp
M: Macrae, Zerrett, JKelly, Danger, Bruhn, Powell, Gulden, Scott // Jordon, Berry*, Brockman
R: Gawn, Grundy // Flynn*
F: Dusty, Ziebell, Daniher, Impey, Campbell, Warner // Rowe, Bergman*

Score: 2060
Rank: 10,980
"Lost" points: Capt. 65, but knew I wouldn't be taking a loophole, so it was always going to be Gawn C. Bench; D - 0, M - 33, R: 70 - but was never going to field Flynn, F: 48, but never considered fielding Rowe against the cats. So really it was only 33 points gone missing, not 216.

Heroes: Dusty, Gulden, Macrae, Ziebell
Villians: Grundy, Danger
Trades: Danger > Titch

Comments: Very happy with the 30 I ended up with, just inside the top 11k is actually one of my better starts to the season. 86.1k in the bank.
Dusty was a late addition, a good addition, but I took Titch out to get him in, very minor win, but would of been a big one if I took out literally any of my other starters instead lol.
Defenders all good without being amazing.
Same situation in the mids, can't really complain about 90+ scores, just annoying to see none of them go a step further. Danger getting himself rubbed out is annoying, but at least they gave him 3 weeks so the trade out decision was made very easy and I can get Titch in after having him all preseason only to take him out 2 days before hand. Normally use 4 trades in the opening two weeks, but this time I'll only be using 3 max, as it looks like I've managed to nab all the the important rookies so far.
Gawn a poor first showing, but was looking a lot more dire at one stage.
Grundy disappointing, but his midfielders got embarrassed by the possession heavy bulldogs, he got double teamed by Stef who always troubles him and a still building English, no cause for alarm.
Massive start for Flynn, hope he can continue to score well and make money, still very worried about his cash gen tanking after rounds 3/4 if Gawn and Grundy smack him.
Dusty is the best.
Hate the Ziebell pick, but with McDonald out for 4 weeks he's got a very good run in the free money position of the season, no one will be taking his kick in freebies.
Didn't see my F3-6 play this week, scores were ok, Impey looked like he got ripped off a bit going by the stats sheet.
Was never ever going to field Rowe against the Cats, boy oh boy I didn't expect that result. Go Crom. Thanks for pick #1, Cats.

Hoping to still have 30 green lights for round 2, after trading Danger that is.
C staying firmly on Big Max, hoping for a bit better luck on the rookie roulette this time around.

D: Lloyd, Laird, Ridley, Stewart, Butts, Cox [Highmore*, Kosschitzke]
M: Neale, Zerrett, JKelly, Cripps, Campbell, Bruhn, Powell, Gulden, [Berry*, Brockman, Sharp]
R: Gawn, Grundy [Flynn*]
F: Danger, Dusty, Ziebell, Cahill, Warner, Scott [Rowe*, Fullarton]

Score: 1,973
Rank: 30,665

Heroes: Dusty & Ridley
Villians: Neale, Grundy, Cripps & Danger
Trades: May hold onto Danger if most of my Rookie playing R2

Comments:
  • My score was a true reflection of my birth year, maybe I'm getting too old for this caper
  • Not as much 'last minute fiddle' as normal due to time constraint, good or bad yet to be determined
  • First time ever starting with most expensive player on each line, not a great $$$/Points return, I know exactly why I haven't gone down this route until now
  • Decided on 30 'Green' lights to start the season, also a first
  • Avoided the popular high priced Rookie players in favour of Butts, Cox, Cahill & Bruhn...Another great decision :p

M: Neale, Steele, Cripps, Rowell, Taranto, Clark, Brockman, McNeil [ Campbell, Powell, Sharp*]
R: Gawn, Meek [Flynn*]
F: Danger, Dunkley, Martin, Daniher, Dow, Rowe [Warner, Scott*]

Score: 1,787
Rank: 87,307

Heroes: Dusty, Rowe
Villians: Neale, bench choices
Trades: Gotta replace Rowell not sure who only 30k in bank

Comments: The worst start I have had since my first year playing lmao.

Had to go away last weekend so got stuck with a DNP; copped Rowell, had Flynn on bench etc.
Honestly not a bad team just a bad week.
Had planned to have 30 greens so didnt VC Dusty, also out of superstition so it was never going to happen. In hindsight , well...
Write that week off.

R: Gawn, Grundy // Flynn
F: Dangerfield, Dunkley, Phillips, Ziebell, Impey, Henry, // Rowe*, Warner

Score: 1,723

Rank: 100,445
"Lost" points: Capt 45, Bench picks: Def 6, Mid 163, Ruck 70, Fwd 101 = Total 340

Heroes: Macrae (118), Dunkley (113), Ziebell (115), Laird (102)
Villians: Me, I chose all the good rookies and left them on the bench

Trades: Possibly Danger and Rowell to Dusty and Titch. First I will wait to see how many weeks Danger will get..

Comments: I still think this is a good team. It has all the best rookies (apart from McDonald), but too many players had a bad day, well under their expectations (Neale 77, Cripps88, Gawn93, Grundy70, Dangerfield92), add to it my abominable bench choices and then Rowell’s injury.

Wasn’t a great come back from the Hawks, even against such a one-sided free kicks count (26-12)

Don’t usually participate in this thread or like posting my whole team but desperate times call for desperate measures. All suggestions welcome.

Really can’t quite believe that this team was good for just 1791 points.

Score: 1,791
Rank: 86,303
Heroes: Bench; there are no on-field heroes in a team that scores 1791
Villians: Team effort
Trades:
Comments: Have Danger to deal with but will probably just sit tight and hope round 1 was an aberration and round 2 will be much better.

Comments: Season over after Round 1 is a new record. Not sure what I did wrong, but everything I think. Ah well. Looking at my team, I don't think it's that bad? Bring on 2022.
