Weekly Ranking: 30,603
Season Ranking: 29,317 (Up 8,112)
Trades made: Dangerfield to Mitchell
Points lost: D 0, M 8, R 0, F 69, Capt 8, Total 85 - less than the 100 odd you expect early in the season, so no complaints here.
Intended trades: Jones to Jordon not sure I'll use the 2nd trade.
Heroes: Gawn 274, Bontempelli 145, Macrae 137, Gulden 136, Ridley 136, Dunkley 132, Steele 123, Laird 121, Campbell 118, Warner 94 - 10/1,429 incl 3 Rookies!!!!
Villians: Jones 5, Rowe 19, Maynard 45, Daniel 66 (for his 18 pt 2nd half!!!), Neale 75 - 5/210!!!
Comments: I don't think I've ever had 10 Heroes before, but my score is just average, because my Villians decided to be Super Villians! That's not going to happen every week, and while I have a couple of spot fires to put out, and a Rookie or two to grab, I think my team is actually set up ok. Neale ..... I will hold him. In retrospect, dodgie pre-season, and tough early draw, it was probably the season to not start him. Hindsight is 20/20, and while he will leak a truckload of cash, I think I'm going to ride him out. It should be noted, that twice in the past 3 seasons I have traded him out, and regretted it!!! If it was BBL out he goes, but it's SC, so I will just suck the lemon, and have a tear in my eye, when others trade him in for $570k. Nearly went early on Brockman to Jordon, but glad I decided to wait now.

Score: 2,110
Rank: 19,471 (from 9,910)

Heroes: Macrae (C), Lloyd, Laird, Short, Dusty, Gulden, Campbell, Warner
Villians: Neale C (75), McEvoy (49)
Trades: Danger to Ziebell
Planned Trades: Hunter to Jordon, someone to Impey or Dunks.

Comments:
My premium midfield (Neale, Merrett, Jelly, Cripps) is not firing, but i may just hold my nerve. Looking like cash will be plentiful this year so not panicking about premiums shedding money and Macrae can be perma-captain for a bit.

Think I need to get one of the big rucks in week 4 at the latest. (Happy to run with one ongield rookie ruck for a while but two is not warranted given the overall rookie depth in fwd/mid). So will use this weeks trades to set that outcome up.

Trades made: McNeil > Brayshaw
Heroes: Grundy (C), Macrae, Ridley, Brayshaw, Gulden, Campbell & Dunkley
(Honourable mentions: Warner, Gresham, Jordon and Highmore)
Villians: May, Lever, Daniel, Zerrett, LDU & Phillips
Comments: Not too disappointed, but not too happy either.. some ****ty scores from good players mixed with some great scores by rookies kinda evened it out. Just outside the top 1k, so happy with that, but would like to get back inside the top 1k.. Not sure which way to go this week with trades, but maybe the correction path rather than any upgrades at this stage. (Potentially Powell in for Sharp)

Season Rank:47,806 (up 52,639 from 100,445)
Trades Made: Danger to Dusty and Rowell to Mitchell
"Lost" points: Warner and Highmore on bench: 114
Heroes: Lloyd124, Laird121, Short120, Macrae137, Mitchell109, Campbell118, Gulden136, Gawn137, Grundy135, Martin 120, dunkley132, Impey123
Villians: Again Neale and Cripps
Trades: Either Neale and Cripps to Boak and Brayshaw or Neale and Henry to Boak and Walker.
Comments: It was a relief to bounce back from the first round score of 1723. I think I have 10 of the top 12 rookies (Mcdonald and Berry the only missing ones) so I will use this coming round to correct my major problem: Neale and to a lesser extent Cripps

Trades made: Bruhn to Berry, Fullarton to Warner
Heroes: Gawn C, Grundy, Bont, Macrae, Dunkley, Dusty, Short, Laird, Warner, Gulden, Campbell, Highmore, Jordon
Villains: Rowe, Williams, Stewart, Merrett, J. Kelly, Cripps, Dow
Trades planned: Cripps to Ridley/Mills?
Comments: Good week. Glad to see Grawndy bounce back without looking totally themselves. Got the rookies on field right with the exception of Rowe (Bergman on pine) but after his 100 last week, I didn’t consider not fielding him. I’d love to see Teague just play Cripps as the inside beast he is instead of playing him as a deep forward for long stints - he just doesn’t have the forward craft of a Dusty or the marking ability of a Danger/Fyfe. Dow also looking shaky. Promising start but I do feel my team has outperformed so far with most of my mids not really clicking yet.

Comments: Very good week, on field rookies, bar Rowe, all smashed it.
Ziebell my 3rd lowest score for the week.
Only issue is some of my premos like Zerrett and JKelly only going at 90s. Not the end of the world, but hurting me when blokes like Oliver are busting out 130s.
Got all the boom rookies so far, so hopefully no trades.

Heroes: Grundy,Gawn Cap, Brayshaw, Steele, Rich, Cumming, Atkins, Gulden, Campbell, Dunkley.
Villains: Rowe and Dom Tyson on field. Tom green omitted too didnt help.
Trades: Dom Tyson to James Jordan and Tom Green/Phillips corrected to someyone.
Comments: This is my second pure year coming into Supercoach and funnily enough last year was my first pure year. I am starting to transition from Fantasy to supercoach and love the community here. So far I am happy with my team overall coming from 41,948 overall rank last week to 19,717. Dom tyson to James Jordan is a done deal locked trade and I will do one correctional on either Tom Green or Tom Phillips. Tom green a wait and see if he will come back into the team and Phillips kicking just ensures he will be a rollercoaster.

Season Ranking: 25037 (up 7103)
Trades made: Dangerfield to Mills (via Sharp and Scott)
Points lost: If I had traded to Mitchell instead, I would have played Highmore and benched Rowe, for a total swing of 74.
Intended trades: Jordon and Berry in. Not sure who goes out yet!
Heroes: Gawn C, Grundy, Macrae, Dunkley, Gulden all 130+ - Campbell, Warner, Powell also superb rookie scores
Villians: Rowe, Phillips, Taranto, Daniel
Comments: Pretty happy with my rookie setup - got stung with Rowe on field but not the end of the world given the rest of them put up good scores. I seem to have copped the lower end of about half my premiums though! Daniel the biggest offender but Stewart, Mills, Merrett underperforming as well. Then there's Cripps... but I don't think any of them are losing huge amounts of money so I'm going to hold. I do have some targets if I need to go sideways but I don't want to unless forced.
Gawndy rucks vindicated to a degree but Flynn/Meek still doing well enough to give the rookie ruck line a fair shake. Think both plays are viable, which should make things pretty exciting at the pointy end!

This will be a bit more enjoyable than usual...

Score: 2,403
Weekly Ranking: 337
Season Ranking: 2,198 (Up 21,707)
Trades made: Rowell to Dusty, O Henry to Warner
Points lost: D 16, M 2, R 0, F 0, Capt 28, Total 46.
Intended trades: Jordon in. GWS players out.
Heroes: Ridley 136, Short 120, Dunkley 132, Martin 120, Campbell 118, Gulden 136, Gawn 137, Grundy 135, Butters 163, Impey 123, Warner 94
Villians: Daniel 66, Taranto 67, Green DNP
Comments: I believe that is my best ever single round ranking. Top score in the various SCS groups. Never thought I would see that! Very happy.

Still a bit annoyed by the last two matches, where 3/4 players failed, but the first 7 more than made up for it. Nailed most of my selections this week, reached my highest overall ranking since 2014, caught up a bit and got to within 350 points of the leader - can't complain. There was no way I was beating the best score of the week - 2,558, so at least those poor scores in the last few games didn't cost me $1000.

It's probably the first time I can remember being mostly happy with my team at this point of the season. Usually I finish better after a slower start, hopefully I can do well in both phases (plus everywhere in between) this year!

Good luck to everyone with their league matches starting in Rd 3. Hopefully we can see some of our leagues start to climb the rankings, I'm seeing a lack of SCS leagues at the top which is very unusual!

Meh: Merrett (91), Kelly (90), Stewart (83), Cripps (82)
Zeroes: A bunch of rookies who have slowed their $$ generating.
Comments:
Happy with my trade to get Dunkley in.
Butters top score for the round a bonus.
Had 2 Fwd donuts, so forced to eat Rowe’s score.

Looking at ditching ROB and bringing in Tex, also swapping out Henry for Jordan.
Thought ROB would be better than he has started, in hindsight Lycett at a similar price would have been a better option.
Means I’ll be running Grundy, Flynn & Treacy as my rucks for a couple of weeks, what could possibly go wrong.
Leaves me with $400k ITB to get a decent R2 in a couple of weeks.

Will hold Cripps as he isn’t going to lose big money and there are other spot fires to put out, plus I want to see if he gets a role change.
Caldwell can be my FD for a week or 2 as I get the lay of the land this season.

Comments: Wasn't hugely upset with my squad until I saw the 2400s on here tbh. Dangerfield is hurting me, though heading into round 3 with 30 trades is a positive. Unfortunately with the volatile rookie scores, PIT60 is a pipe-dream at this stage :( Bleeding points for a double chance at captain score...
Will likely just trade in the 2 rookies I've missed, keep Danger and leave the Taranto/Philips/Cripps 'issues' for later.

Happy with my trade to get Dunkley in.
Wasn’t too disappointed with speculative pick in BWilliams
Rowe on field hurt with a few under performers but cannot complain.

Planned Trades: Tyson to Jordon a lock
Maybe see what I can do with Phillips

Points lost: Was going to trade Duggan out to Ridley, but thought I'd be patient and see i) another Duggan game; and ii) whether Port Adelaide could shut down Ridley. Patience ended up forgoing 71 points...:(
Intended trades: Of the rookies, Berry is the only one I'm missing. Don't have Impey, however price is a little awkward. Contemplating Duggan => Ridley, and T Phillips => Berry (a few grand short of Short).
Heroes: Gawn (C), Grundy, Macrae, Dunkley, Dusty, Laird.
Villians: T Phillips 56, Daniel 66, Duggan 65, Cripps 82,
Comments:
1. Am annoyed I fell for midpricers with unproven premium track records this year. Not just one but two. It is so difficult to unwind them if they don't work out.
2. DT/SC ratios of 98/65 and 84/56 (Duggan, T Phillips) are just infuriating to endure during a match.
3. Fyfe injury is a concern. Fortunately can get some kinky donut action this week, with the Dockers playing on Sunday.
4. Think Cripps will end up stuck in my team for the year. Hope the old warrior finds his mojo, but it's very concerning at the moment.

Villians: Rowe, and most of my bench bar Powell. Cripps is dead to me.
Comments: Super stoked with the score, considering I thought I was 1.5 premos off the pace to start the round (200k in bank and Danger going to be captain after round 1).

Points lost: D 0, M 6, R 0, F 39, Capt 0, Total 45 - Normally it'd be a lot higher so if it's just Rowe over Bergman, it means it's a great result.
Intended trades: Neale to Oliver & Fullarton to Impey.
Heroes: Gawn 274, Macrae 137, Grundy 135, Gulden 136, Ridley 136, Dunkley 132, Lloyd 124, Laird 121, Martin 120, Campbell 118 & Mitchell 109. Half my players tonned which is great!
Villians: Rowe 19, Daniel 66, Clark 67, Neale 75 & Cripps 82.
Comments:
Just something about breaking the 2.3k mark that makes it so satisfying. Players like Gawn, Macrae, Lloyd & Dunkley who in the past I have gone without have always punished me... feels great not having to deathride them any longer. Not having a donut is still pretty scary but I expect one to pop up soon so I would imagine Fullarton/Sharp could be dropped however both are useless as loops this week seeing as they play the first game.

DEF: 7.5/10
Loving my Stewart to Lloyd pre-rd 1 lockout decision. Laird had a slow start I believe but worked his way back into it. Ridley great POD at 12.4% and took 10/11 kick ins! Daniel was putrid... maybe 3 doggies premos wasn't a good idea (unless u had bont). Clark I heard he played well but his score just didn't reflect it, so willing to give him another chance. Highmore solid D6. Kosi & Sharp slow burners it appears.

MID: 5/10
Neale is a problem and most likely needs to go. Macrae was great but still isn't my M1... that honour goes to Errol Gulden! just wow. Kid is a superstar. New recruit Mitchell a bit underwhelming score wise but 37 touches was still solid. Cripps apparently was putrid too so may be a problem down the line, might have to trade him and keep Gulden down the line lol. Campbell another of the swans rookies to tonne up. Another new recruit Jordon straight on the field did well. Berry onfield over Powell didn't lose too many points. Brockman was great and glad I didn't trade him out. After starting Scott last week, very fortunate to not have his 23 count.

RUC: 10/10
Gave the Grawdny combo a 1 last week and looks like they've come back firing. Flynn not going huge also makes it easier to just stick with the Grawndy combo. Keep on mooing Flynn.

FWD: 7/10
Very glad to have started both Dunkley & Dusty. Ziebell injured during the game so hope he pulls up fine. Daniher was putrid and was very lucky to score 73. Wishing I had stuck with Impey instead though who I had all preseason. Warner the 3rd of my swannies rookies narrowly missing out on the tonne. Rowe over Bergman... I have a feeling I will get this 50/50 wrong every week. Paying the premium for Fullarton over Jones looks great however I suspect both would get dropped this week anyway.

Intended Trades: Maybe Sharp to Jordan
Comments: Team is tracking great, went from 2045 round 1 to 2270, unlucky not to crack 2300 with Fyfe concussed late in the 3rd term. Disappointing effort from Neale and Daniel. Think I picked the correct rookies onfield, looking at minimal trades, although might go cash grab with Jordan. I'm sticking with my mid price strategy atm keeping 5 onfield rookies to ensure a stable score, Rowe was the perfect example, although I wasn't expecting him to back up his hundred. He'll be onfield for me next week. Congrats to @Ironhawk with his top scoring effort this week.

Intended trades: Fyfe to Oliver. Would love to get Ridley or Short in for Doch/Howe.
Heroes: McCrae, Grundy, Dusty, Dunkley, Pretty much all the rookies.
Villians: Daniel, Zorko, Howe, Stewart, Cripps, Me for picking Fyfe again...
Comments: Missed a real chance to get into the business end. Have been extracting near maximum from rookie choices and nice to lock down Grundy 135 early. Looped out Rowe which was nice. Looped in Berry 69 but it cost me with Jordan on the bench but happy for the security at the time. Premiums have not fired yet and I can only get lucky with rookies so many times before my luck runs out... Will trade hard now even sideways if need be as to have a crack at the top rankings.

Did you deliberately start with those loops Obie?

Comments: Wow! Week 2 down and very happy with how the team is shaping up. The strategy at the start was all-in on rookie rucks, and then adopt a low risk profile everywhere else: no breakout picks; no 'nearly' premiums; no injury prone guys (Jelly the only exception really).

Means I might miss some players for now that I almost started (Walsh, Freoshaw) and some others that are killing it (eg. Butters) but that is SC: you can't have everyone.

I got nervous watching Gawn and Grundy punch out 130s but then Flynn and Meek put up scores that any coach would take from a rookie. Most importantly, the funds spared in the ruck line bought good scores elsewhere: Oliver and Ridley weren't in until I took out Gawn.

It feels like a week-to-week prospect whether this team does well, but every time Gawn and Grundy go lower (ie. sub 120) and Flynn and Meek pass at least 60, I've got the guns in place to capitalise elsewhere on the field.

That said, if Gawn towells up Flynn for a 160 vs 40 I'm gone, but let's just pretend that won't happen huh! :p
