why hasn't dan houstan been performing lately?
I picked him in my starting team and he was a bad pick, a lot of it unforeseen. If he had of kept his defensive role he would probably would be top 4 DEF outside of his shoulder injury. He's played on the wing, on the ball, back flank, basically all over the place from week to week. His shoulder is apparently an ACL injury, which has impacted scoring in two games and kept him out of another. He's cheap now for a reason, I would avoid if I were you unless you see some sort of turn around in role/shoulder.

I think there’s a few issues with Houston however I do like him at his price, but I would wait til round 14.

He can score badly on poor losses and he does get moved around but for the most part it’s inside or def and he can score in both. While I’m not certain he might be struggling with the AC joint injury which has hurt him twice. If I see him play well after a rest in r13 then for af price he’s probably the best def option.

Not only that, but Campbell has been pretty handy as well, hitting the scoreboard and winning hit outs.

Pity he's 29 and we don't seem to want to blood the young big guys but oh well .
I actually don’t mind the ploy from NTH this year, Campbell has been a decent marking target and kicked his odd goal or two whilst giving Goldstein a chop out, which he hasn’t had for years.

Which has seen you be able to get entire matches of ruck work into Xerri in the VFL, something that wouldn’t have happened if Campbell was playing VFL also. In a team ravaged by injury and using a lot of VFL players, Xerri’s putting together a really solid year and appears to be developing quite nicely. Which I think is a great thing.

Good perspective. You're probably right that Xerri is better served developing his ruck craft as a sole ruck in the VFL rather than as a chop-out ruck in the seniors.

Hopefully he's the next Matt Flynn - do the growth at state level then smash the big time!

Speaking of strategy, I'm very interested to see how Neale goes if he gets up for R12.

A trade of Oliver to Neale in R14 could deliver $150k (Oliver reaching $720k or thereabouts) and 10 premium scores instead of 9. In R14 Neale has North!

Also noting that after he reached $714k at the start of R13 last year, Oliver only averaged 109 in the run home.

You probably want him back for Adelaide in R22 though! :p

Reckon it's a positive for Ziebell if anything. Right now he's having to play as a KPD most weeks which is hurting him a bit for scoring. With Tarrant back they can play Walker and McKay also and free him up to really be the floating defender that suits him best.

Don't think it impacts Hall at all, he's a pure rebounder right now.

Thanks for the shout out @Connoisseur. :)

Obviously I haven’t been a very regular poster here over the years but I see I actually made my account back in 2015 which was my second year playing SC, and I still check the discussions on here pretty regularly. I owe a debt to a bunch of the regular poster’s here on SuperCoach Scores for many things I’ve picked up about how to play SC here over the years.

PS. I was ranked about 18,000th last year and I’ve only once managed to scrape into the top 500 once before this so I think this is officially a spike year. 🌵

@Hawthorn fans.
Any chance Reeves stays in the team for atleast the next month?
With Hartigan now banned for 3 in that period, is there a chance McEvoy is sent back and Ceglar/Reeves play as the Ruck/fwds?
I had hoped so regardless of Hartigan's schnanigans. Looked really good, McEvoy won't be around forever and Ceglar is not R1 material. Albeit he was against one of the weaker rucks who he may have even trained against a while back...
