who are my must trade guys this week

am thinking rowell and ridley, thinking of holding grundy, want rosas but unsure how to get him

Don't mind me but just talking myself into Rory Laird over here.

Since his move into the midfield in round 9 of 2020 he has averaged 116.94

Missed only the two games in this period, rounds 1 and 2 this year, due to a broken hand.

See below breakdown of his scoring in that time;
0-90 - 2
90-100 - 5
100-120 - 10
120+ - 17

So has put up captaincy scores in half of those games.

From post-bye last season until now is putting up 122.83.

Someone talk me down of this ledge.

He is very good POD option, my biggest concern is he has GWS round 7 (tag incoming), last 4 scores v GWS :- 75,122,81 & 84.

Ridley - > Rosas by moving Daicos to D then anyone of your F/M to M

Rowell - > Miller , Oliver , Petracca , Steele or a POD.

Looking for some commentary on the way forward from here.
Currently just outside the top 5000, so better than most years but down from #97 after round 3.
A couple of background items.
* I have been running with a value/mid-pricer strategy
* Also been trading aggressively so far (26 left after R5) in pursuit of corrections & cash-generation
* To some extent that has worked as I have a high team value of just over $12.5M incl $263K ITB.

I am committed to at least 1 trade this week - Rowell out for Bazlenka & this is what my team will look like then.


IMO I don't have any obvious weak-spots.
20/22 of my on-field brigade have already tonned up this season and my bench are all generating cash strongly.
I hopefully have Cripps & Pruess back this week & can expect Grundy to do way better. With the Rowell upgrade thrown in you would think I'd be able to improve on this week's score of 2202.
But do I go for more? ie do I use my cash advantage now in attempt to regain that lost ground?
If I go Dow --> Rosas, I then have enough cash to upgrade Caldwell to a premo - even though he still has a bit of cash to make.
Targets would be Steele, Touk, Oliver or Mitchell.
I has initially favoured Touk but @wogitalia suggesting he was playing injured has made me uncertain.

Anyway thoughts on whether to be aggressive or not - if so who to bring in for Caldwell?

I think Laird is worth serious consideration. I took a serious look at him last week for Cripps.
Problem is his current price of 628K.

Thing is you have Oliver in the same range who has history of going 120+ while Laird needs to break new ground as a 28 year old to achieve that. Then you have the guys who are currently a bit cheaper like Miller, Brayshaw, Tom Mitchell and Petracca who can match Laird’s scoring for less spend.
If he was 40K cheaper, I’d take him for the POD factor.

Probably comes down to how much you want a POD vs closing off potential negative PODs.

Exactly this point here. Paying 628k is a lot, and you're only 12k away from getting someone like Steele (unless you already have him).

To be honest I was hoping Laird's price would drop below 600k! But he's been on fire the last two games and his scoring should slightly improve with Sloane getting injured.

Had a rethink re trades this week, last week was Grundy's first bad scoring round for a long time (think his last 10 games were all solid scoring) & his record v Essendon can't be ignored. Also thinking of keeping Whitfield ... surely he comes good scoring wise

18 onfield players averaging 90+ and a bench that is a gold mine (providing we actually get 8 downgrade targets)

Just need to time everything right & upgrade Blakey , O'Driscoll , Caldwell & Newcombe.

Some fallen mid premiums on the horizon , haven't looked closely at D options as yet.

Perhaps play the BEs a bit harder. Blakely out > via Daicos, Martin > Rosas. No change to scoring capacity for mine. Tonnes of cash for next week.

Fair enough, Hayes has JS issues, but averaging 86 and 89, I don't think at this stage you will get much better.

You must have a very strong fwd line and midfield line if you're not willing to field arguably 2 of the best averaging rookies going around.

Martin 86 average
Hayes 89 average

(Only Daicos 87 narrowly beats out Martin.)

Appreciate the thoughts here. Already have Oliver and Miller so cuts them out as options and can't afford Steele unless I remove a rookie with plenty of cash still to make.
