I know that you didn't say this, but I definitely am not blaming the players. I just don't know how this situation occurred.
Sorry, wasn't suggesting you were. The whole organisation needs a complete refit. Just don't remember seeing a situation like this since, FItzroy. The difference is, WC is a big club that will recover. The afl was happy to let Fitzroy fold.

Greg Clark is not as skilled as Laird. No even on the same planet
Bazzo is no match for Tex who is ragdolling him
I can recall at the start of this season a number of Essendon supporters saying they were never fit enough under their previous coach.
Gold Coast and Freo for years had sub standard training facilities compared to the major clubs. And the quality of coaches varies enormously which why they get sacked.
I take your point about individual differences and potential club-specific inequalities. I just meant that I feel that the abilities, knowledge, experience, talent, resources etc of players within the AFL are relatively similar as a whole. I mean they are all adult males, aged between 18 - 35ish, in the top few percentages of footballers in the world by ability, backed by elite sporting institutions, who take up the sport as a profession.

Maybe I’ll need to think on this more...

How does a situation where a team is regularly uncompetitive to the point of averaging 100-point losses occur? In professional sports, aren’t most athletes relatively similar in terms of skill, athleticism, training, and resources etc? Shouldn’t the difference between winning and losing be relatively minor, especially in the age of equalisation?
I like to think its the universe punishing them for the sketchy "dru

Whats The Eagles excuse though? Fully funded, best of the best facilities, sponsors coming out the wazoo.

I just cant see any reason why any team should be this bad and I was a port supporter during the Primus reign. Someone's responsible for the horrid list management and conditioning programs.

Gut em all and start again. Good chance the last few seasons mentally destroyed what would have been some decent footballers.

My apologies too if I came across as defensive. Didn’t intend to do so. 🙂

It was such a shame about Fitzroy. I’m glad that they survive in the VAFA. I’ve actually thought about going to Fitzroy to watch a game.

I won't go into it again as I have posted previously but it goes back to the Tim Kelly trade and what they gave up for that.

The silver lining for me is that I don't think this lasts more than a handful of years. We usually bounce back pretty quickly (and it's why I think Sydney and Geelong are so admirable, they barely ever bottom out).

West Coast is a great club. You’ll bounce back within a few years or so, I’m sure.

Yeah, I think you're right. They've dropped the ball big time, but in this environment and with big club resources, wouldn't surprise if there was a relatively prompt turnaround. It's so frustrating when you know the on-field performance is very little to do with the players.

On another note, I've been wanting to ask: has Gaff ever been the same player since the Brayshaw incident?
