Do we perfer Docherty the midfielder over Docherty the rounding defender over the first month or two is the question isn't it?
how is his scoring as a mid?
Last year he was great, a few years back he was considerably worse than as a defender.

It's a hard one, part of it probably depends on which other guys are missing. With Kennedy and Hewett and one of Cerra/Walsh missing he was great, will he be as good if he's pushed to a more outside role covering for just Walsh, 17 tackles in the last two games were a big part of his scoring.

Ultimately, can he sustain his average? Both midfield and rebounding defender I think it's very possible. I guess the question is if there is more upside or more downside to the move, I can definitely spin it both ways on that front, if you think it's a positive he's a great choice, if you have doubts or think it's a negative I'd suggest there's several safer options with more certainty to their role and, for an added bonus, much better durability records.

I love Doch though, I think the defender group as a whole is very strong and those hunting value are going to be playing with fire to an extent. It might work but there's definitely a lot of outcomes where there's potential for big hurt.

36 trades, is that 1 more than last year?
Yep, that was the first thing I noticed. Believe so, 36 up from 35, but I could be wrong. I assume they’ve added one to handle the additional mini bye round with GCS GEE?

I guess we’ll get an article or something in the morning explaining that and any other changes.

You'll then be able to trade up to a maximum of 2 players after the conclusion of each round (and up to 3 in multi-bye rounds 12, 13, 14 and 15), with a total of 36 trades available for the entire season. You can make ONE or TWO trades at once (and up to THREE in multi-bye rounds). Players may be traded right through the week and during the rolling lockout, up until each player's match has begun.

  • There are four rounds (12, 13, 14 & 15) in 2023 where multiple teams will have a bye and not play in that particular round.
  • In these rounds, you'll score from your best 18 players only in any position, from your selected, on-field Starting 22. You'll still need to ensure that your best available players are in your starting 22 line-up.
Took me awhile to work out where to find everything. I was curious on the Geelong/Gold Coast bye.

I'm a bit disappointed by Stocker's price at the Saints, thought he should be cheap really, Coffield's cheaper and has already shown he can score half decently. If Stocker was bottom dollar he might not have been a bad bench option.
