He's an absolute unit, definitely got an AFL ready body.

They also mentioned in that video he could play forward, mid or back, versatility is great for getting a gig early.

Looks very much like Hopper & Taranto will join Prestia as the main mids at the tigers 😎

Both look like πŸ”’s for mine
Lot of Fyfe about this for mine, will definitely play midfield this year still, he's not nearly as good a forward as Fyfe either so would expect more midfield.

Taranto is the one that's most interesting to hear the positioning on as he's the guy who probably needs to split time across both heavily if he's going to be playing forward much as will need to learn the timing there so probably a great sign for his role if he's not spending much time forward.

Hopper is safe, he's utterly one dimensional and it's a dimension they've been lacking severely the past few years so it's a good thing this time. He's not playing forward or back, he's going to be their primary bull.

Weird to think there's multiple fantasy relevant Tigers this year

Id be surprised if he played anywhere but down back as its by far his best position.

Isnt many guys that get drafted at 192cm and 92kg that are strong intercept marks and can run all day, genuinely think he'll end up one of the better players of his draft.

You don't shellout 700K per player to play on the HFF or HBF, except if you come fom Lygon Street...
I mean the Tigers are paying Dustin Martin almost double that to play forward pocket. Swans pay Heeney 800k to play HFF. Freo is paying Fyfe a million to play HFF, maybe even FP, Collingwood is paying Treloar close to that to play it for the Dogs, Danger is 900k to play HFF for Geelong. Giants gave Coniglio 900k and the captaincy to do it. Whitfield and Toby Greene get it to play each for GWS.

You'd be genuinely surprised by how many of the highest paid players are actually HFF/HBF types

Happy to pay for Laird purely as he's the safest C option. Clarry is still having issues with his thumb, Touk/Merrett may have a few early tags lined up, Mills cucked by his coach and would rather upgrade to Neale. Leaves Bont/Laird as VC/C duo early days, potentially Dunkley as well.

I don't think Clarry will let anything stop him getting out there in round 1, he's tougher than Audie Murphy's army boots.

Is Clarrys thumb really that much of a concern?
This is an ongoing thing that he played most of the back half of the year with with no worries and dominated a qualifying final, doesnt stop him from doing any running so the fitness base will be fine aswell, gun players dont need much match play just strap it up when it matters and get on with it.

It’s guesswork at this point. He’s having issues from his second surgery a few months ago only 40 days out from preseason, not a good sign

Could you please elaborate on your concerns with Mills ?

1st five games

Swans - tagged him 2022
Essendon - tagged him 2022
Geelong - didn't tag him or GC, genuinely like to tag inside midfielders.
Saints - didn't tag him but did tag other mids, Ross in charge and loves a tag.
Fremantle - rarely tag

Think you have this concern of most key mids this year, tagging likely back based on end of season momentum to tag.

Every chance of being a top 3 mid with a good role, just his coach takes him out of the middle a fair bit. I would be surprised though if his mid time is worse than last year.
Will respond together but Horse is the short answer.

Was moved out of the midfield 2nd half of last year, he averaged 123 over the first 13 games and "just" 108 over the last 9, midfield went from 65-80% CBA to 25-50% in that period.

I think Mills is our clear best midfielder but he's also our most versatile and capable of filling gaps.

We've got Parker, who can play forward or mid but was our #1 midfielder last year. Rowbottom who is utterly one dimensional and Horse's pet, he's not going anywhere. Warner is emerging and also fairly one dimensional right now positionally, he took up the lion's share of Mill's CBA along with Papley who only starts there but even him taking 20% of the CBA is a lot of lost points at that end of the game and you can't afford to be losing that.

We've also got Gulden and Heeney who can and will go through at times.

Mills at the end of it suffers from his versatility. Being the only one in our midfield group (also Gulden) who can actually play wing, being our best intercept defender and our best outside ball user (except maybe Warner) means he gets pushed into the roles that others can't play even though it's not his own best role.

To be honest, outside of the Rowbottom obsession, it's not really even Horse's fault here, it makes sense to have Warner and Gulden play more and more midfield, both can be elite there also. I'd just be sacrificing Parker and, primarily, Rowbottom instead of Mills but Horse has never seemed to really like Mills as a pure midfielder so having reasons to not do it is scary if you want him for fantasy.

Hopefully an intercepting Aaron Francis can lock down a defensive spot, thereby Horse has no option to play Mills in the guts or forward.
