Should just be a flat 5 on the bench. Not sure there are any good reasons for four plus sub instead, yet to hear one.

AFL. Answered it myself.
Wouldn't be surprised if that's the case in a few years, I can see the clubs angling for that.

The whole sub thing has year on year progressed towards that.
Concussion sub -> Medical sub -> Tactical sub

Then the coaches will complain that it is not fair that the other side does not have an injury whilst they have and as such are at an insurmountable advantage and the vicious cycle continues. Lose-lose situation in their eyes with the sub or no sub.

Funny thing is I can remember Scott being asked about this last year when he was Bombers coach and he said when he worked for the AFL the 5 man bench was raised and some Clubs rejected it so the four bench plus sub remained. Cannot remember who published the article. Perhaps some Clubs still do not want 5 man bench. Four and a sub seems to be just stupidity to me. Indeed the whole process has been a shambles with medical manipulations and players being dropped when they weren't. But it is what it is and we will deal with it.

PS. I assume now for Sunday games we will get an extended bench initially, then a 5 man bench and then one hour to the game the final 4 man bench and sub.

Is that the guy with his head chopped off? ;) So would Windsor get a game before Laurie Neil?
He would in my book but jeez the kid has amazed everyone .He is one of those that always makes the right decision but is neither tall or short quick or slow skinny or musclely. I would have an untried windsor Keep an eye open for an article about him on TRIGS HAPPY PLACE when the site opens shortly

Does anyone else have concerns of Young mid minutes? You'd say Serong and Brayshaw are locks for mid time then Young is up against Fyfe who's supposedly playing more mid this season, Jackson they want to play as a big bodied mid then their younger kids in Johnson/Erasmus getting mid minutes plus what about O'Meara if selected. That's a lot of people to get mid minutes? I think I'm going Sheezel as my D3 with Sicily and Stewart. Good luck.

He'll be in the rotations, unfortunately we won't know how much time he'll have slated there, either way, happy for him to pick up points elsewhere, whether in defence or on a wing.

In other words Bont is the love child of campion data, as we have all known for years now.
But you fail to take into account his contested marking ability, tackling and scoreboard impact (goals) and so on comparative to the rest of his competition which a large portion of coaches continually fail to recognise whilst they keep selecting outside midfielders foolishly hoping they will magically make it to a 110 avg cause.

Champion Data employees are ineligible to win any prizes thus there is no incentive to intentionally distort figures given the intended users do not care about Supercoach.

a bit of tongue in cheek there I reckon.

I guess this potentially eliminates the need for goal umpires completely (and reduces the need for boundary umpires by determining if a ball goes over the boundary line) once this is implemented? Guess they would still need the goal umpires to determine if the ball was touched through or hit the post, unless they leave that decision up to field umpires / have video reviews of everything.

Not entirely sure what use it has otherwise except for possibly determining stuff like how far out a set shot is for broadcasters. Maybe they could use it to determine if a kick went 15m+ (a free that is often missed) if they can get the info instantly, that would actually be beneficial.

I thought this technology was available so glad to see they are trialling it, but still not exactly sure they will utilise it well.
