Matthew Wade: Not a change of approach, if we did what we did with the bat in the last game, it’ll give us a chance to improve our NRR. We’ve had such a successful couple of years, it’s been good to see how the team evolves in challenging situations. In other environments you may see teams drop off but we’ve certainly got a fighting spirit. We’ve got a blueprint of how we want to go about it but we just haven’t been able to hit all our markers. It’s amazing to have my family here for the last two weeks. (On combating KKR’s spinners) Our ground has different dimensions, shorter straight and longer square boundaries, we can pick up our twos. Bit different to other teams where they just attack, guys like Sai and Gill pick up their twos and get the boundaries when we need them. We have some left-handers in our line-up so that’s something different as well. We feel like we’ve got the resources to combat them.

Phil Salt: (On finishing in top 2) It is big for us. Chat before the game today was about not letting up, turn up with the right attitude. GG (Gautam Gambhir) has been pretty solid with how he wants us to play as a team. He stressed on us to come here and still look for two points. (On comparisons with Chris Lynn) I’ve got a bit more lean muscle than him. When you come into a new team, you want to come in and do well. Lynn did it for a few years here, but for me it has been more about myself and how I can better my abilities. (On IPL experience) Lots of different surfaces in India. But it doesn’t vary too much really. I’ve been going about it at Eden Gardens but we’ve got some good wickets away as well, it is just about assessing and adapting on the day. (On the KKR team) Our point of difference is we’ve got Sunny (Narine). He’s like playing with 13 players with his skill with bat and ball. So that really frees the rest of us to play the way we want to. Sunny is very chill, as am I in the middle. We know what we do well and we remind each other of that. Hopefully we can keep it going. (On Gujarat) They are a good side, not to be taken lightly. We know they are a top side with some quality players.

Jaiswal 24, Buttler 21, Samson 15, Sandeep 0.

Wow. Just wow. 60 from 4 players and 36 from the 3 I traded in. Couldn’t have gone any worse really. Gaikwad, Parag, and Ashwin outscoring all 4 just by themselves. Fading Salt not going as great now with the replacement in Sandeep doing nothing.

Axar, JFM, Stubbs, and Mukesh in this one. Need lot from Stubbs and Mukesh to stay in touch.
1/583
Axar 106, Mukesh 78, JFM 58, Stubbs 3.

Narine C, Russell, and Chakravarthy tonight.

CSK next game is on the 18th , I am sure Moeen is the T20I VC , if he plays that one why couldn't they all leave then and talk tactics on the way home

KIP play on the 15th so assuming Bairstow & Curran are playing in that one.

Ireland let Little stay and then GUJ don't even pick him.

I guess Raza will return for KIP's final 2 games

Could be chaos if CA suddenly recall Cummins & Head

Is anyone in a league with Big Focka? Maybe a public league?

Would be interesting to know how he is placed.
2nd is the interesting one

Fraser-Bersek , Pant
S Iyer , Narine , Russell , Salt
Samson

before trades

Curran , Kohli (52) , Jadeja (25) , Rahul , Rashid Khan (DNP)

3 x SRH + S Sharma (MI)

Who did he trade out and who did he keep ?

Is he a looper off the bench and plays the round game by game

The washout last night is annoying, so I think that it has become time to play the man and not necessarily what I would do if all things were equal. It’s time to try for first or finish twentieth!

I think that I may need to use my final boost to take on Narine’s VC score. The down side is that I will have to make a WK captain. Looping Narine VC and Salt off the bench gets me 90 points. So I need to hope that my alternative Captain scores 45 points. I will be down 2 points for every point he scores under 45, and ahead 2 points for every point he scores above 45.

The obvious choice is Rahul given he averages 64 and has scored more than 45 on 9/12 occasions, but it is likely that both first and second still have him and they could be using him as an alternative C themselves if they are fielding him.

As far as I can see, I have two alternative options. Pooran is averaging 52.5 and has scored more than 45 on 8/12 occasions, but the down side is that there is a risk that he doesn’t bat given he bats at 5. The other option is Prabhsimran who is averaging just 31.6 and only scoring more than 45 on 4/12 occasions. However, he has been opening lately so feels a bit more like taking on Rahul with a like for like player, but there is obviously a huge form risk of player and team. The up side is I could see how Rahul scores tonight before deciding if I should use my boost this round or not.

I am interested in hearing what others would do in my situation.
1. Sit tight, cop Narine’s C score and Salt and just worry about changing things up and using final boost in the final round when I have more information on what is needed.
2. Boost in Rahul as the best option and hope that first or second haven’t captained him.
3. Throw caution to the wind and boost in one of the alternatives. If so, which one?

If I do boost, I am likely to trade out one of the SRH players that both first and second have - Head, Klassen or Sharma to open up final round pods in case I somehow manage to make up some ground!
