Welcome to another year of the Promotion and Relegation Leagues!
Most of you will be aware of how these works, being participants from last year, but it is expected there may well be some vacancies for new members this season. These are not official SCS leagues, if you are interested in joining an official league, I recommend joining in this topic.
The Promotion and Relegation leagues are a multi tiered system, where a successful year will see you promoted to a higher league for the next season and a poor year will see you relegated to a lower league for the next season. There are three tiers, and seven leagues overall, with each league containing 20 teams, one of which will be my own team (who will not be competing) to enable me to monitor the results. This structure is as follows:
Tier 1: League 1
Tier 2: League 2A, League 2B
Tier 3: League 3A, League 3B, League 3C, League 3D
Promotion and relegation at the end of the season will be based on results in finals, not regular season standings as follows:
Tier 1: The bottom 4 teams (17-20) will be relegated to Tier 2. Teams 13-16 will play off against teams 3-4 from the two Tier 2 leagues in the final week of the season to avoid relegation.
Tier 2: The two grand finalists in each league will be promoted. The two preliminary final losers in each league will play off against the teams ranked 13-16 from the top tier in grand final week for promotion. The bottom 4 teams (17-20) will be relegated to Tier 3. Teams 13-16 will play off against teams ranked 3-4 from the Tier 3 leagues in the final week of the season to avoid relegation.
Tier 3: The two grand finalists in each league will be promoted. The two preliminary final losers in each league will play off against the teams ranked 13-16 from Tier 2 in grand final week for promotion.
There will also be an Inter-League Cup held commencing in Rd 17 and running until Rd 24. This is a head to head knockout competition where you are matched up against teams from any league. Winners stay in the competition, losers are eliminated until there is only 1 team remaining. Highest scorer in each particular round moves on, in the case of a tie, the team to progress will be the team that scored higher of the two in the previous round.
I will send a PM to everyone with your league allocations shortly and a link to join for 2024. Please join your allocated league in a timely fashion, as league entries will close on Saturday 2nd March. Any teams that have not joined by this time will be replaced to ensure we have all leagues filled. I know at least one person has mentioned they will not be playing SC this season, and I expect there may be one or two others. I will open up any available spots to new participants on Sunday 3rd March.
I will confirm the 2024 league participants once all places have been filled.
Good luck to you all, and I hope this season is equally as enjoyable as the last one, if not more so.
