Is it too late to get Dempsey in? He impressed me against St Kilda as mainly a forward. Played a lot of wing yesterday and got lots of the ball.

Darcy is another option to bring in, however can he be trusted to play another 4-6 games in a row? Not sure….
Is it to late to hop on the Dempsey train?

Agree with Chumpion that it is too late for Dempsey.

His role just isn't good enough to take the risk at 220K after an initial 71.4K price rise.

Don’t think it’s worth using a boost to bring in 3 rookies

Just on the back rookies, McKercher & Roberts will get DP after round 6 so the likes of Reid could be traded to a mid rookie instead from round 7 onwards

Just check your round 6 bye situation to make sure you have enough cover with Rich/Melb on the bye - it’s why I am skipping Brown as I have Howes & Hore like you.
Who is actually going to sideways Zach Reid in Round 7 during upgrade season when cash could be unlocked from a rookie downgrade instead though?

I think Reid to Draper or Brown is a decent punt if you have a spare trade for it. Then you can hopefully make money in that slot and use Zach Reid as a downgrade option when he returns. This week or maybe next is your last chance to cut Reid though IMO.

i know it's a sideways trade but one that makes nearly 200,000 k.. could you sideaways trade to xerri from Marshall for the time being and target a gawn/english upgrade after gawns bye or a fair few weeks down the track?

I feel Xerri/Marshall have similar game styles and their scores will mirror one another roughly

Quite a few decisions to be made this week.

First and foremost is whether a 3rd trade boost is warranted or not use any trades at all.

Darcy and Thomas have the 2 lowest BE's but there's doubts over both for me. Darcy's JS and Thomas's scoring power and JS neither of which I know anything about (Thomas)

Billings still has a manageable BE and whilst he might lose much cash his scoring is totally reliant on a 'kick/mark game, hotly contested games like we saw on the weekend just don't suit him at all and I wonder if he'll keep his spot when Hunter returns?

Not much on the bubble next week if anything, have an eye on E Hollands who looked very good, after that the cupboard is bare, unless I'm missing something..

The round 5 bye follows and I'd be remiss to not have any plans for dealing with that. Daicos, Grundy, Heeney and Roberts missing is too much of a hit to take, could be saved a bit by them all being highly owned and it might be handy to know how many teams have those plus a Jordon to deal with. They're all in over 82% of the top 1% with Daicos being the lowest. Is trading Daicos out this week worth it to possibly get a bit of a leg up? Combined with a Grundy > English trade the following week? I think the opportunity is there with no rookies to consider and no real need to trade at all. The key here will be to nail those 2 trades in round 5 to make it work and obviously for the rest of the year.

I'm a bit bothered by having 2 dead rookies in defence, to me that's a lot of cash gen to miss out on, the flip side to that is there's SFA options there to make it work. So the choices are then, to move those rookies to those on other lines ie: trading Coffield > Darcy or to upgrade them to MP's or to move premos from mid/fwd into defence. Wines could be the vehicle to make that structural shift happen. I've been reasonably happy with Wines output considering the price paid but I think I'm 20-30PPG down at M5 considering that others have Steele/Crouch/Miller types sitting there.

So maybe.....

Wines > Whitfield
Coffield > Darcy
Billings > Thomas

Leaving me this after those trades.

Boring trades.

Billings to Darcy.
Gibcus to Young. (Trading young out and in is a hobby)

If gawn didn't have a bye in a round i would seriously consider raging Marshall to gawn.

Slight consideration of coffield to brown.
young has played 2 good quarters in 12, i get missing the 130 score but surely not worth backpedaling that soon?

anything worth using a boost/trade on? thinking dempsey potentially. also, is it worth holding onto wilson instead of trading to darcy? next targets to bring in are steele or premium defenders(ryan, stewart, housten)

I'm one in the "hold Reid till DPP" camp but it's not with the view of necessarily sideways trading him to a rookie (although that could be a live option if there is enough must have rookies on the bubble) but more just to let him sit at D8 indefinitely. If there was a good def rookie then absolutely a trade, but I don't see Draper or Brown making enough cash to be worth the subsequent trade out. In short, it doesn't feel worth it to burn a trade to get them in for a maybe(?) $75k when they could fall short of that and become another deep wood rookie.
I'll likely trade Howes at DPP and move on the the new DPP guys to D7 with a view to loop them vs my last onfield rookies until I go full premo down back, but I just don't see the value in trading Reid for a low return when he'll likely come back and then make as much (if not more) as the Draper types would anyway.

Any thoughts on whether it it would be too early to go to a 5 Premium backline with Whitfield, when McKercher and Roberts will get DPP soon, or whether to upgrade to the likes of a Butters/Miller etc?
You only have to carry Howes score in Rd 4, Rd 5 is best 18 and Rd 6 he’ll be on the bye or gone anyway.
Whitfield BE of 70 isn’t going to move the dial too much. I’d be looking in the mids value Miller, Steele.

What’s the general consensus on Ollie Dempsey? (Missed his 71k price rise)
To late to trade in after the price rise or just grab him now before he’s gone up again this week?

i was considering trading harley reid to him but dont see the point in it now. burning a trade/boost to make potentially 50-100k is not too worth imo

harley reid also has great js, hoping for a role change

Personally I think its too late, or at least that is what I'm telling myself.

Personally I think Thomas is a better option with a 107 in his price cycle and is 40k cheaper, not sure if I will go there either, but he maybe an option?

OUT: Sexton/Wilson/H Reid
IN: Darcy

It would be great if that's my only trade, as I've used the full 6 so far.

Will have to see what transpires this round. I think Howes > Draper won't be required, but will see if Howes ends up on higher than 1 point by the end of this match
Probably leaning the two trades now:

Reid/Sexton/Wilson > Darcy
Howes > Draper

Just feel like we won't have rookie options so want to grab as many as possible early (Draper etc) as I have no confidence there will be many come Rounds 5-11 (Still thinking Sellers, McAuliffe, Clay Hall if we are lucky)

Still a lot to play out, with teams being named etc, but Dees play Thursday night so will have a plan in place on if I want to pull the Howes > Draper trigger or not.

What's the deal with Rozee on the weekend for anyone watching the games?

He's going to drop cash, has his role changed with WInes and Drew doing plenty of grunt work? Is there a balance issue with PA midfielders now that's seen Rozee turn into a ball watcher rather than more coalface extraction?
I thought he might benefit from captaincy a little with a slight improvement and certainly not a regression.

I've had a longstanding view (that I don't have actual stats for but has been something I've noticed) that young captains often see a SC impact. Whether it is because they have less time to focus on their game, become more selfless, or something else.. but it just seems to halt year on year improvement.
Happy to be challenged by anyone who has done the data analysis - this is very much an unquantified "feeling" response!
