With Wines injured and 375k cash, I felt like I should upgrade to an uber premium mid … but I couldn’t really get comfortable with any I don’t already own (Bont, Laird, Steele and Touk) at their current prices/given their performances to date.

I have landed on:

Z Reid to Darcy
Wines to Stewart

This avoids the mids issue, and strengthens a challenging line.

Worth flagging this data, which made me pause a bit on Serong and Green.

Both have three relatively tougher opponents for inside mids to come next, and no weak opponents for the next five games.

They have the toughest and third toughest draws for inside mids to come.

The magnitudes aren’t massive, but given I was already a bit wary of them at their prices, I am feeling a bit more comfortable pivoting to someone I’m more confident in.

Was tempted to start Anderson along with Touk. Think he could be a better selection than Rowell. He's PODdy as and looks headed for 110+ with most of the opposition attention going to the aforementioned Touk and Rowell. Can burn it a bit though

His 98 should keep him from getting too far away in a hurry. We have legitimate bargains potentially popping up in the interim though so I can see me missing him
Anderson is arguably the most consistent of the three - very rarely tosses up a stinker. Gets the more noticeable inside grunt balls and looks great breaking away. Delivery lets him down but he's a keeper for me and still reasonably priced.

I don't like help me posts but here I am asking for help with this lot:
View attachment 70702
$90,200 bank. 5 boosts.

Options I have looked at:
  1. Dawson & Sexton > Darcy & Flanders/Neale/Rowell
  2. Fyfe & Jordan > Darcy & Flander
  3. Sexton & Hore > Darcy & Draper
  4. Fyfe, Hore & Howes > Darcy, Draper & Clark/Dale
Just going round in circles.

Advice please?
I'd be doing Berry down to Darcy, Fyfe/Jordon (keep whoever you think goes better this week) to Flanders. And then Dawson upto a better mid. (haven't done your sums) Neale, Rowell or similar/better if you have the funds.
Jordon will go this week or next so its just whether you think he has a spike game vs WCE. Though I feel they may keep Fyfe on this week against better opposition in Carlton. But its roulette for Fyfe. So its tough to choose which one I'd discard this week.

I find it interesting that this thinking hasn't really been applied to Daicos by anyone on here yet. Daicos has a breakeven of 178, a potential tag by Finn Manginess (pending teams) in which he scored 41 against the hawks last year, and he's missing the next game too with the bye.

Yeah you're likely to bring him back with another trade when he bottoms out, but the potential money saved and points on the field during the bye sure is appealing. Things to consider.
Yeah, its hard to throw out Daicos off the back of 1 poor game, with ave of 108 who will be top 6 come the end of the year in his line. Dawson isn't showing signs of being that in the midfield or scoring at a decent average to even hold a midfield spot in the top 20.
Daicos hasn't got any extra challengers to his role, Dawson has Crouch and Berry back in again amongst some of the competition for points he is losing.
I wrestled with not starting Daicos based on those very points you have raised, and that we might/could pick him up cheaper after his bye if all the stars aligned to be able to get him back in at the bottom of his cycle. Then I decided after Round 0 it wasn't worth the drama as many other drams will engulf us during the course of a season. Just lock him in and forget about him unless his scoring falls off a cliff.
2 camps those who started him and those who didn't, but if you did, you knew there was this early risk. But during the early byes rounds to mitigate those risks you need most non bye players scoring at their premium, Dawson hasn't on 3 occasions, Daicos has had only 1 poor game so far.

Probably leaning the two trades now:

Reid/Sexton/Wilson > Darcy
Howes > Draper

Just feel like we won't have rookie options so want to grab as many as possible early (Draper etc) as I have no confidence there will be many come Rounds 5-11 (Still thinking Sellers, McAuliffe, Clay Hall if we are lucky)

Still a lot to play out, with teams being named etc, but Dees play Thursday night so will have a plan in place on if I want to pull the Howes > Draper trigger or not.
Pink out has probably saved me a trade (maybe :ROFLMAO: )

Able to loop Howes now so he has more appeal to hold for this week.

Could always go Pink > Draper (lol oops) if still feel the need to grab Draper.

Billings > Darcy
Next on the list is:
Sexton > Flanders, Windsor gets a reprieve for a week! (looping Lazzaro with Darcy)
Both of those are now locked.

May use a Boost to grab a Rookie I missed last week,
Jordon > Dempsey or Thomas, can't decide.

Is holding Hore both Hore and Reid going to be a mistake in the long term?

I can bring in Touk, Flanders and Darcy this week, but it means holding both Hore and Reid and now Sexton.
3 players not making cash on the bench feels like a bit of an issue.

Is it smarter to take the short term hit on points and only get one of Touk or Flanders and solidify cash gen by shifting Reid to a Brown/Draper?

My sources were spot on re Sexton - so bye bye. Doubt he'll get back in now given past history. Once dropped, he tends to stay dropped. Any Blues 'insiders' around who can placate me re Carroll's JS. Looks like he could be Sub or am I misreading the teams?
I think it will be Durdin or Owies as sub. They are too similar as small forwards to have both starting on the bench. You'd think one of them plays and the other is the sub injection - think that's what they're run the last few weeks as well

Dempsey's a bit of a missed boat mate, Thomas could still turn out ok, looks like a good young player, hopefully not sub!

Not sure about that - he has gone up 70K but he could be this year's Chandler with his roaming up the ground role.

219K currently - SuperCoach Plus predicts he’ll be $300k in a few weeks and $350k by round 9

22 possessions/11 contested, 6 marks, 7 tackles for 86 points on Monday, 88% TOG also so has a big tank obviously. Great signs that he scored so well without kicking a goal, very good option to have on the field especially when it is best 22 like this week.

Sexton out and get Steele?

Or Seth Campbell out and get Touk?

Very close on the dollars.

I feel like even with the Sexton news I still need to trade Billings this week.
Holding Sexton means I can use a loop to get the best rookie score. But it also means I have the cash to go Jordan > Flanders next week.

I could hold Billings and trade Sexton but would need a one up, one down next week and there doesn't seem to be any rookies on the bubble next week that are appealing?
