Thought I would throw it out there but I've got Billie Smedts on my radar. 200k def so an expensive rookie, but by all reports he is flying and a strong chance for rd 1. If not many others options pop up over the rest of the pre-season I may select him.

Here is a report off the Cats website from 10th Feb.

Smedts, who has played 33 AFL games since making his debut in 2012, has certainly impressed his coaches.

"He's trained really, really well," Geelong's backline coach, Dale Amos, said.

"Particularly post-Christmas, I think the way he's gone about it and his attitude towards feeling like he's part of the AFL team has been really solid.

"He's been doing a lot of work with Matty Scarlett and we can see the benefits of that already.*

"All the indications at the moment are that he's preparing himself well and giving himself a chance to play some AFL footy early in the year, which is good.

"In footy terms, he hasn't played a lot of footy, so it's an important stage for him.*

"He's in that group of players that we need to really push us forward and establish themselves as senior players.
He is terrible.

Ok thx for the feedback. I agree he is no superstar but if he starts off hb/wing i can see 70 ppg which is a modest upgrade but a starting rookie.

Feedback stating terrible is not constructive, pros and cons appreciated.

There's no way he's going to play off half back/wing or score 70ppg. He's just really slow to make a decision and then often makes the wrong decision. If he gets games I think he'll play as a lock down small defender.

Are any of you Geelong boys considering Blicavs?
I'm not a Geelong supporter and i don't know too much about the Geelong group. Having said that, i think he will average 80-85 at best. As a midfielder you will be better off with a rookie/NVB/Rich and in the ruck you would be better off with Leuey.

From today's Sunday Times... A Bit more on Elliot Yeo...

http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/we...ts-midfield-move/story-fndv8w9k-1227252862564

West Coast Eagles defender Elliot Yeo says hand problems are behind him as he targets midfield move

IT was the unlucky break that could end up giving Elliot Yeo his lucky break in the midfield.

The West Coast defender re-broke his left hand at training in November, after the original break in Round 13 last season cost him nine matches on the sidelines and soured his first season back home.

Yeo, who was traded to the Eagles from Brisbane for pick 28 in the 2013 trade period, now believes being forced out of ball work might have been a blessing in disguise.

The 21-year-old did more running sessions instead and hopes his bigger tank will help him force his way into the midfield on a more regular basis.

“I needed to work on my fitness and at the time when I did break my hand, I was doing a fair bit of running, so as much as it sucked, it was beneficial as well,’’ Yeo said.

“It was just a freak accident. It set me back a little bit, but it’s all good now and I’m looking forward to the season.

“They are all behind me now, the hand problems. I’m still doing my rehab on that, but at this stage, it’s fine so no problems there.’’

Yeo is needed in defence in today’s NAB Challenge game against Port Adelaide at Norwood Oval, with fellow backmen Shannon Hurn and Will Schofield left at home.

West Coast’s top draft pick Liam Duggan, No. 11 overall, will be unveiled after shrugging off an ankle problem, while fellow newcomer Tom Lamb is set for a full game after substitute cameos against the Indigenous All Stars and Carlton.

The Eagles will begin the task of finding a cover for Eric Mackenzie, who will miss the season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament against the Blues.

Mitch Brown is set to play as the anchor key defender against the Power, with youngster Jeremy McGovern playing as the second tall.

Yeo, entering his fourth season in the AFL, said he hoped to eventually establish himself as a permanent on-baller for the Eagles and predicted the team’s midfield would surprise this season.

“I spent most of my juniors playing midfield and only sort of played half-back in the 18s carnival and at Brisbane,’’ the East Fremantle product said.

“They were sort of slowly bringing me into the midfield last year and I was thoroughly enjoying it.

“We’ve put on a bit of size over the off-season and we have got a bit fitter and a bit quicker, so it will be interesting to see how we go this year. I think our midfield will go pretty well.’’

Thanks mate I have enjoyed your eagles updates this year and you have really got me on the Yeo bandwagon! There are plenty of risks to be taken this year and I want my risks to be on players that are exciting and fun to watch and Yeo looks like one of these. He will have to show a bit more to make my team at such an awkward price but the upside is there if the move to the mid is made. Perfect age bracket for a breakout and opportunities are there at the eagles.

Steele Sidebottom for me- his average against teams he plays twice in 2015 from his 2014 stats.
Geelong-131 Carlton-134 Essendon-126 Richmond-109. Also finished the year of strong and no Beams could go either way. Would love to know people's thoguhts on him.

Really like him, but when u can pay an extra 60k for pendlebury, you would be silly not to. At a similar price, JPK, ward also represent greater if not equal value, and they seem to be better options

I agree with Prochard, Sidebottom's scoring is pretty good but there is just simply better options at his price or slightly higher. In the midfield you want the best of the best scoring wise and he is not it that bracket.

If he plays NAB 3 and is selected rd 1 I'm thinking B.Reid at 217k very tempting.
