Depends how you are planning to use the VC/C loop I guess throughout the season.
Personally think it’s not a good move to pick any players that aren’t expected to play. Much better off picking a team of available players for points, cash generation and coverage.

We can use Strikers players round 1, we will just pick a C straight up with the Canes and Strikers playing in the first game of the round during round 2. Then there will be other players we can use for loops who either have a bye or miss for whatever reason throughout the season.

Fair point.

Though it's not like too many cheapies appear during the season so you can use the money your bench players may generate though.

Long time to wait until Burns , Green , Labuschagne & Pucovski are likely to play BBL.

With the Emergency in place this season might be time for something different.

Amazing how different your side looks with 3 x $ 42 k players sitting on the bench.

Probably can adjust in Round 3/4 if it blows up.

Probably looking at starting Coulter-Nile, Stoinis, Maxwell and Stanlake from the Stars. Will sit on Gotch until I see how Philippe goes as he plays first. If Philippe does well, I’ll put Nielsen into my keeper slot and take the former’s score.

Noor Ahmad will also be in my team, along with Milne, D.Short and Christian. Beyond that, I’m just going to have to play it by ear. So seems like 10-11 decisions have yet to be made.

No matter how much info we get, going to need to be flexible down to team lists.

Take the canes for example.

If they run with a spinner in the 11 and Jacks is slotted to come in at 6 - terrible terrible pick.
If they run with no spinner and Jacks opens or is at 3 - nearly a must have.

That’s just frustrating.

I have him in my team currently but I’m seriously tempted to go without him. Near on 150k, you’re hoping for an average of 55-60 at that price. Might take him a few games to get used to the swing of things, especially against Rashid who I assume he hasn’t seen before.

Think the best options for our internationals currently are the cheaper ones (plus Rashid) and hope we get a couple of surprises in the form of debuts from our local talent.

Correct Herbie.

Have taken Zampa and Khan out. Moved Short to BWL. Hoping my E on each line domonate so I can add Strikers on field and play a little ahead.

Do you think Stars will rest players with the two games being so close? It is only 20/20.
I have Zahir 100% in and Zampa becoming more likely due to (I'm a heat fan) our complete inability to verse spin. SCS seems to focus on the most important factors like DGW or Pitch or batting position but team vs team matchup is important and the Heat have a flaw against spin which has been used before e.g. last year in Brisbane against Thunder, the Thunder played 3 spinners with between 9-12 overs of spin which was highly effective. I'm predicting (my opinion so take with a grain of salt) that Zahir and likely Zampa will dominate against the Heat (I also think heat have a weak batting and bowling line-up) and as long as Khawaja and Hales don't create a 150/0 then would be scoring average points or better against the thunder.

On a different topic, I know the strikers have two DGW's but I personally don't find too many attractive players from the strikers. I like R. Khan (Obviously, who doesn't love that man), Salt (I believe will have a hales effect of getting better every year), Renshaw (bought for a reason so guaranteed top 4 batting plus occasional over) and Wells (More likely to score without Head due to coming in earlier). Those 4 I would target but otherwise, I am leaning towards setting up for when the big boys come in later on and target the sixers and renegades DGWs. Just putting some thoughts out there and will most likely change my opinion as we get closer to the season starting.

He’s also in my team at the moment.

If he’s opening and there’s no specialist spinner I’m not sure how you could go without him. Basically 6 opportunities in the first 3 matches.

I’m also looking at the sixers without Curran, Abbott, Henriques, and Bird. Can see Hobart starting strongly.

How many overs do you expect Jacks to bowl though , given Short will bowl.

Even if they go 5 quick or 4 quick + Parker they still have 7 bowling options.

Ingram might even want a over as well.

Handscomb , Jacks , McDermott , Wright could also open or Bat @ 3 depending on opposition and match ups as well.

With regards to the Canes bowling while Lamichhane is unavailable, I’m tipping when averaged out over the season there will be 6 overs per match for Short and Jacks with the remaining 14 for the pacemen.

With Jacks as more of a known bowler than Short I think he will average around 3.5 overs per game with Short bowling an average of around 2.5.

Every match will be different of course where the Canes will prefer to bowl pace over spin and vice versa but I think the averages will be around about as mentioned above.

This Jacks is starting to sound like the greatest all rounder the game has seen 😀

Played 36 domestic T20 games , bowled in 14 of them and has taken 13 wickets with a ER of 7.04

and he is a off spinner

either going to be a sensation or a big dissapointment

has not taken a first class wicket

My team could get some Stars spinners if my emergency HOB scores are ****e. My round 1 team could change after every game with the rolling lockout. It could be my favorite round due to this. Really looking forward to all the crap that'll come my way during the Big Bash.

Thoughts?

Handscomb + McDermott + $50k+
Versus
Phillippe + Handscomb or McDermott

Which combo scores more over first two rounds? I am leaning towards the Hobart lads and cash given it appears close and more potential to increase in value. Really need to get a better grasp on their batting lineup though!

Big Denly vibes. I remember Denly taking 4 against SL and thinking he was going to be a perfect pick lol

Now I am intrigued by Jacks

Bowled 2 overs in the 2018 Vitality Blast

Bowled 1 over in the 2019 T20 Cup

any knowledge of a injury that prevented him bowling more ? more opportunities ? etc etc

only bowled a complete 4 overs in 4 of the 11 games he bowled this season.
