Still unsure what I do with my wicketkeepers!! Leaning towards taking Gilkes but maybe a POD play for next round is to not have Inglis (or Bancroft), so that would mean fielding, Harper, Billings or Wade this week. I’ll sleep on that one and hopefully thinking becomes clearer tomorrow.
Harper has trapped me before, I'm torn between Billings and Wade, benching Wade next week feels weird, and tbh that Canes team is so strong has me thinking they share the runs around all year.

Billings is probably overpriced (batting at 4? and not keeping), but at least he's a legit bench next week (allows a loop look at Inglis first game I guess too) then the double, then flick to Phillipee.

Its Billings at the moment for me so far.

Me: 0/598 - Rashid.
Have bypassed Gilkes, using Billings who was lazing at B7. Will take Rogers 24, and hope he can score 20+ in the 2nd game.
Was "forced" to C Rashid, and wasn't thrilled about it before hand ............ but I am now!!!!!

Wife: 0/705 - Sams
Well, she went a little crazy between game 1 and game 2.
She had both Gilkes and Rossouw benched with E's. The theory was she could cover the worse of the 2 with Billings. But when they scored 0 & 10 respectively, she couldn't cover them both. Now, the sensible thing would have been to cover Gilkes with Billings, and just eat whatever Rossouw threw up. "Sensible be damned", she said! She went:
Out: Billings, Agar, Tye
In: Nielsen, Short, Hardie (if only she C'ed Short!)
Short term gain, for potential long term pain, but she's doing very well so far!!!!

For those not regularly following the combined SCS team topic, it is currently sitting on 0/706. A very solid start, albeit only 2 games in. That won't quite be at the top of the round rankings, but hopefully we have set things up so we have a consistent scoring level nailed that will end in a strong overall season ranking.

Definitely worth following along and chipping in on each of the decisions we need to make each round - it's been working reasonably well so far, with some good changes made along the way which should help set us up well for future rounds as well. Thanks again for all the input to date, but we can always do with more contributions.

Looks like I'm well off the pace!

0/471 (Sams)

From only nine players though, will be throwing Wade and Shadab on field to cover my poor loop options.

I want to give Rossouw another chance but it feels a poor decision given the strength of the Strikers attack...

0/599. Would have liked a bit more but not the worst considering I missed Green, NCN and Webster. Seeing a few on 700-750 so hopefully don’t loose any more ground and only start about 150 back
Honestly there’s so much still to play. Can’t count the number of rounds I’ve had in the past where I’ve flown through the first phase of a dgw round then crashed back to earth, and vice versa.

Yeah that’s a good call mate. I’ve had Clarke fail so hoping he can match sort of what NCN did in the first game tbh, and that Siddle can pick it up a bit in his 2nd game

But yeah, have had bad first rounds in the past and still finished fairly highly. Just loving having it back tbh

I'm happy to give Thunder bats the benefit of the doubt, wont be playing on a mine field this game, that Manuka wicket was pathetic really.

I realised I didn’t join enough leagues (still have 6 spare slots) - if anyone still has spots please join this one 223602

Started OK with 628 with a full 11 now having played. Will take Gilkes.
Full.

Probably don't want me, planned to finalise the team 2 days ago and work got in the way.

Now starting without any Stars or Thunder players! No leagues

0/555 (Sams) from 10 players.

Had Short all day yday but switched to Lynn late. Did I mention I hate DRS? 🤣
It seems we are never going to be happy, depending on which side of the fence we are perched :ROFLMAO:.

No DRS we fumed with poor decisions against our players.

With DRS at least if it is a howler, it can be fixed by DRS.

I guess I would rather DRS fix the bad ones and we are just going to have to live with it...

DRS is going to be swings and roundabouts.

But I’m going to be a lot less furious when an overturn happens when he’s not out and it hurts me compared to losing a batter to crappy call when he was clearly not out.
Yep, perspective is key. I think what rankles about the decision last night isn't so much the outcome, even though it was a significant swing, but the fact that it really did look to be out live... It wasn't what I'd call a bad decision by any stretch. But DRS has been throwing up these scenarios for a decade now so what can we do?
