I'd be concerned about Harper as he might be dropped if Maxy is back for the second game. Would suggest including Inglis on the bat bench to be looped if need be. Would be concerned about Sutherland not bowling or not much. I was considering JFM however his recent form isn't great, Brown could be a better option. Kane Richardson got 0/47 in four overs in a Premier Cricket club game recently and hasn't played anything much since February, I'd prefer O'Neill or Rogers.

Otherwise some good selections there. In my opinion of course.
Inglis and Harper play at the same time so unable to see Harper’s score before flicking Inglis onfield to cover him.

Wasn't he suggesting

/ Harper (E)
/ Inglis (E)

Then depending on Game 1 scores swing Doran , Philippe & Flex around

eg

Philippe could go to WK 1 if Harper scores less than Inglis

Doran onfield Bat line to take Inglis score if acceptable (more than Harper)

Then move 1 of Short/Overton/Sutherland/Fraser-McGurk to Flex

I think Harper is too risky so would not include which is what I was suggesting. I'd be open to playing him if he was in 1-4 position and would play two games however he could do that for the first game and then get dropped if Maxy comes back.

Thanks Herbie, if the Stars bat first I'll be reconsidering who I'm playing, if that performance is repeated on Sunday their bowlers might not have much to bowl at. Their three top scores were from bowlers, perhaps they should have their bowlers batting first.

Encouraging performances from Brown, Seifert, Khan, Sutherland and MacKenzie with his batting. All up fairly much confirms my assessments of the players before this match.

The Renegades were more interesting than the Stars in that one. Lined up pretty much exactly as I said 2-3 weeks ago. Just didn’t have Khan there as he hadn’t been signed by that stage.

The stars are a mystery still to me as they played 7 specialist bowlers. Giving them all a run brings us no closer to figuring out how they divvy up the overs.

MR look like (to me at least) it will be Harvey/Wells or Stow for that 11th spot.

5 specialist bowlers doesn't help Hassan & Sutherland's overs though , Game 2 could change from Game 1 though.

Milne not playing doesn't help either.

Harper keeping might be telling (until Duckett arrives)

Wonder if their preference is :-

Maxwell (Clarke Game 1)
Rogers
Duckett (Harper until Duckett arrives)
Stoinis
Cartwright
Curran

+ 5 Bowlers

1 bat short but without Webster is a Harper/Kelleway/Merlo going to do much at all ?

I was thinking about running with 2 Stars , now actually thinking about 4-5 😱 (may well have lost the plot)

The lure of cheapies on a DGR always gets to me but it does allow spending up on other players.

Is 150k too much to take into round 1? Just can’t see where I’d spend it. Allows me to get Short round 2 if he looks a must, or just spend it on 3 fix up trades into Perth/Adelaide guns, or even prep for round 3

Was impressive in the WI recently, so interesting to see if he can get a game. Not sure they'll play Zampa and Stow though?
Could see them playing both at the SCG and Marvel personally.

Probably comes down to how much they rate Hassan (& Bethell's bowling) and if they are 6th option or 7th

Without getting too caught up in what unfolded in the trial game; I instantly wanted to switch Sutherland to Khan (batting higher, bowling more?), and JFM to Brown. What do we reckon?

Short answer, yes.

I’ve had iterations of between 60-110k in the bank. Felt better about my teams in the 60-90k range as I could still trade for who I wanted rd2.

Is Inglis playing for the scorchers? Is that confirmed yet.... and how handy is Khan on the bat do we reckon...

If you think you have significant new information about role, I think it’s fine.

I’d be reluctant to do it based on your new assessment of form, unless it has changed dramatically … eg a batsman not being able to hit it off the square, and then coming out and smoking it from ball one.

A single delivery can change a batsman’s score, or how much a particular bowler bowls in a given game, pretty dramatically … it might be as little as a catch dropped or taken. I’d be wary of overreacting if it is potentially down to a small margin like that.
