Lynn
Weatherald

Allen
Nielsen (until Pope arrives , then Pope @ 4)
Thornton
Boyce
Pope
Doggett (if available)

Buckingham (if fit) in the mix for Doggett/Pope

Bazley , Kelly , Ross to miss out

LRP's tba for Carey & Head at least

Liam Scott been mentioned as one possibility

Think Ross/Kelly will come into contention over one of the bowlers. Feels overkill to have 4 specialist bowlers plus Overton, Allen and Short providing overs.

Allen coming early puts the final bullet in the “Do I pick M Short rd1” plan.

Agree , think they have the wrong set-up structure , but if the Top 3 perform they might not need to many others to bat.

Must have got Ross for a reason.

They seem bullish on Boyce & Pope again , so would they just rely on Overton and Thornton for pace and play CSK spin to win theory ?

I am sure D Short will get overs along the way as well.

Allen could be extremely interesting could get 30-40 points from Fielding alone before he even bats or bowls.

First time playing bbl, what are the price changes like compared to afl? For example, if short has an average game week 1 how much could we expect him to drop in price for rd2?

My head is going around and around like a washing machine , might be easier just to pick a auto-fill side before Sunday night's game 😀

Will have 4 Renegades , now down to 2 Stars.

I really need to decide on how many (and which) Scorchers/Strikers players I want in Round 2 then work backwards.

Hopefully get a few answers to some things today and no more curve balls

Good luck

Based on what I’ve read I think we’ll line up like this,

Allen
Jennings
Hardie C
Inglis WK
Hurst
Connolly
Hobson
Richardson
Tye
Morris
Behrendorff

Obviously hinges on Inglis being released as well as Turner and Agar being fit, Hobson and one of Hurst or Jennings to drop out when both with one of the internationals to open.

Shows how much the West knows when you’re leaving out Behrendorff 🙄
Have you seen anything from Kade Harvey suggesting Inglis might open (if available) ?

Although with Hardie now out they might need to leave him @ 4.

Is :-

Allen
Fanning or Hurst
Jennings
Inglis
Hobson (Turner)
Connolly
Spoors (Agar)

+ the 4 Quicks

Read awhile ago they were looking at Bryce Jackson as the LRP for Marsh , maybe with the injuries they go someone like Whiteman instead

Hmmm, I've been so burnt with Stars players in the past that it's clouding my thoughts big time.............apart from 'Maxi'............and he's now hit and miss mostly.................the rest just don't get me.

As for the 'Ren's' too...............their starting prices speak for themselves too................when you just look at projections for Rd 1 for them, they're mostly dismal imh.

Maybe 'Seifert/Khan' are worth including........L Evans too but bat only....

...Brown and JFM are more miss than hit and bat only too of late............too risky for mine.............Tommy Rogers also cheap for a reason............been average...............Will Sutherland, (hope he watched his sis last night).........has issues............too risky................I'm finding it very hard to get enthusiastic about the DGR teams in Rd 1.

And then you look at the Strikers and Scorchers.................hmmm..............some nice projections there...............that 'Diabolical' average looks achievable with them as a comp starter ..............if you can fathom the RD 1 double misses.

Anyway, enough raving from me.................cheers mate

Player availability
Coach Peter Moores says Glenn Maxwell will almost definitely miss the Stars opening game against the Scorchers in Perth on Sunday as he recovers from a left hamstring strain suffered while fielding in the third T20 against Pakistan last month.

Scott Boland and Beau Webster are also unlikely to be released from the Australian Test squad for that match, while No.1 draft pick Ben Duckett will also miss the first two games due to England's third Test against New Zealand in Hamilton. Two-time Stars player of the season, Joe Clarke, has been secured as a replacement for those two matches against the Scorchers and Brisbane Heat.

Pakistan spinner Usama Mir is unavailable until after Christmas with Kiwi speedster Adam Milne signed as a replacement for the first three games of the season.

But English allrounder Tom Curran will be available for the entire season after being poached from Sydney Sixers on a two-year deal.

Possible best XIs
Marcus Stoinis (c), Sam Harper (wk), Ben Duckett, Glenn Maxwell, Beau Webster, Hilton Cartwright, Tom Curran, Usama Mir, Joel Paris, Hamish McKenzie, Scott Boland
For the first game: Joe Clarke, Sam Harper (wk), Tom Rogers, Hilton Cartwright, Marcus Stoinis (c), Campbell Kellaway, Tom Curran, Joel Paris, Hamish McKenzie, Peter Siddle, Adam Milne
Extremely interesting that he mentioned Duckett would bat 3 or 4 once available.

Assumed he would be opening , looking at Big Bash Board he has only opened 39 times out of 186 Innings.

12 x T20I and opened once back in 2019.

So what is the Stars opening partnership this season ?

Amazing to think a few years ago they had Cartwright and Stoinis together who were reasonably successful.

Welcome aboard!

@Tails is our pricing guru, and may be able to confirm how many dollars per point that prices move by.

Scoring in BBL is way more volatile (batsmen will often score <10, buy can also score 100+). I think that the scoring volatility is probably a more important factor than differences in the pricing formula per se, if that makes sense.

Ultimately the ability to buy low/sell high is much greater than in AFL, because of the scoring volatility, and the extra trades.

BBL is way more about playing the fixture (getting your head around double game rounds etc) than about upgrading your team to get to full premo etc.

Heard a few times that if he scores zero in Round 1 he will lose approx $ 30k.

I guess that would mean if he scored 50 he would drop approx $ 15k
