Do WKP eligible players only count for the WKP spot, or do they also count for the DPP spot?

I'll join.
Yes all WKPs will eligible for WKP spot and that spot only.

Each player will only be eligible in one position. There may also be some position changes from standard supercoach. For example if Scorchers were to make the finals then Fin Allen will be able to be selected as WKP.

The following will be the points scoring for the finals competition. Note that some of these are different than SC and I have also made a few changes from last year.

Batting
  • 1 point for each run scored (same as SC)
  • 1 point SR bonus for each run scored in excess of balls faced (old SC method).
    • SR bonus will be capped at 25 points (new)
  • 10 points for a half century (same as SC)
  • no additional bonus for century (new)
    • agonised over this but decided it is only making a huge score bigger and more difficult to catch.
Bowling
  • 20 points per wicket (same as SC)
  • 1 point ER bonus for each full run conceded less that 8 runs per over (new)
    • ie balls bowled / 6 x 8 less runs conceded
    • ER bonus capped at 25 (new)
  • 10 points for each 3 wickets (same as SC)
  • 15 points for a maiden over (same as SC)
  • no scoring for dot balls or extras (new)
    • already rewarded/penalised in ER bonus
Fielding
  • Catch 10 points
    • shared between players involved
  • Stumping 15 points
  • Run out 20 points
    • shared between players involved
Captain
  • There will be no nominated captain and no double points player

With the ER bonus used for bowlers, is the minimum score zero, or can this go negative?

Interested to see how these scoring changes go.

The SCS Big Bash Finals Competition will be along similar lines to last year's Elite XI concept with a few modifications. The basic premise will remain the same where the winner will be the person who can achieve the highest scoring XI from performance of players they select from the 4 finals.

The selection for each game would be.
  • 2 BAT onlys
  • 1 WKP
  • 2 DPPs
  • 2 BWL onlys
  • 1 FLX
That will be 8 players per game for a total of 32 of which 11 scores will count as follows.
  • 3 highest scoring BAT onlys
  • 1 highest scoring WKP
  • 3 highest scoring DPPs
  • 4 highest scoring BWL onlys
The flex player selected in a game can be from any position however they can only fill the underlying position in the final Elite XI. This is intended to give people an extra chance at recording a good score for the position which they may be behind.

This comp is designed to be less frustrating than the classic comp because only 11 of the 32 scores count so low scores by selected players aren't as costly.

One of the issues from last season's comp was that missing a big score is difficult to come back from. That is the nature of the concept to some extent how I will be making some modifications to the scoring rules so big scores won't be as big as they were last year (ie Josh Brown scored 223 points in one final) which should hopefully keep more people in contention for longer.

I will share the scoring rules and other details over the next day or two. Note there may be some surprises still to come.

Now that the serious stuff is over it is time to have a bit of fun with the SCS BBL14 Finals competition. The quoted posts above contain the selection and scoring rules.

Link to the form for selections for the first final between Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Sixers is below. This game will be played at 7:30pm on Tuesday night.

BBL14 Qualifier - Hobart Hurricanes v Sydney Sixers

Selections
  • Email address so you receive a copy of your selections
  • SCS Name
  • 2 Batsmen (bat only) and 1 emergency
  • 1 Wicketkeeper and 1 emergency
  • 2 DPPs and 1 emergency
  • 2 Bowlers (bowl only) and 1 emergency
  • 1 Flex and 1 emergency
Please ensure you don't pick the same player twice. The form will not prevent this.

Note that I have altered the position of the following players either to create more options in a position or to avoid a player being a standout option or a very poor option.
  • Henriques - DPP > BAT
  • Dwarshuis - BWL > DPP
  • McDermott - WKP > BAT
  • Shaw - WKP > BAT
  • Doran - WKP > BAT
Note that I have removed any players that I know will not be available for the game. However there may be some listed who are not available because I am not aware.

If you wish to change selections then simply submit another set of selections. I will always pick up the latest.

If there are problems with the form then please let me know ASAP.

Happy to take any queries.

Good luck.

@Beg2Differ link gives this error:
View attachment 83018
Does it need to be made public or something?
I haven’t got that, but it has taken me to a Google sign in page. I am on iPhone and don’t use Google, so not sure if that has something to do with it? I haven’t had to sign in previous years??
I tested it before I posted the link but now it isn't working for me either. Not sure why yet. I am investigating.

Looks like Google Forms have made some changes on how to release a form for use. The link in the above post is working for me now. I would appreciate if somebody could try it and see if it working for you also.
