I read the part above and seen he was an injury replacement

This is what was written and the bold is what I thought

Hamish McKenzie re-aggravated a side strain at training on Thursday and has been ruled out for the remainder of BBL|14.

Blake Macdonald has been named as his injury replacement and comes into the squad of 14 at the expense of Brody Couch.

It's probably that he was signed as an injury replacement and then placed in the squad of 14 at the expense of Couch.
