Not the day to bowl Mitchell Marsh with such a low total being chased.
Any pressure left just got taken off. Starc is back on but too late now.

Bloody hell... Went outside for 15 minutes and missed 4 wickets, Starc on a hat trick and a 6 to win the match.

Watson should have been dropped for Clarke. Bailey should have retained his spot - he played exactly as he should have against England. Smith will have periods of no runs, his technique is very suspect imo.

Good on the Kiwis - shows if you get Warner and Finch out for not much you are well on your way to beating the Aussies, they are very fragile.

Especially without Faulkner. Agree about Smith's technique, but then look at AB. Smith to 3 and Watson out for Bailey and we might actually post a decent total for our bowler's to defend.

Bringing Johnson back into the attack was more costly IMO. Absolute waste those 2 overs.
You gotta back your strike bowlers for the most part in situations like that. They needed wickets. Johnson way more likely to do that than Mitch Marsh. Mitch Marsh was not needed when you need to bowl out a side for small total. Just had to use as many of the overs from strike bowlers you could. In the very moment Mitch Marsh come on my reaction was, NO!!!!!! Do not understand that move but in any case it is one small grievance in a great fight back. Would have been the biggest steal I seen if they had pulled it off. Still stunned it got that close.

Vin's World Cup Review (after Match #22)

The Highlights
- High scoring, fast paced innings... 300 is the new par score
- AB de Villiers, Southee & Mitch Starc are playing at an Elite level
- Gayle's record breaking innings
- Aus v NZ classic... proving the bowlers will have a say at this World Cup
- Afghanistan's fairytale win
- Associate nations provide two absolute humdinger last-over finishes
- India's fanatical crowds at Adelaide and 87K at the MCG (closely followed by the Lankans)
- IRELAND ARE STILL UNDEFEATED... let that sink in...

The Lowlights
- Bowlers struggling to have any answers in most games from overs 35-50
- Pakistan have shown zero backbone and are yet to register a win. Afridi yet to go BOOM BOOM
- England also woeful, Windies not far behind
- Apparently the next world cup will only feature 10 nations... poor decision by the ICC

Who can win it?
- I think Australia, NZ, S Africa and India are all almost on level pegging now
- Sri Lanka are not to be dismissed lightly
- Ireland and/or Bangladesh are a good chance to make the Quarters
- History suggest there is always one upset in the Quarters...

World Cup Best XI Candidates (by end of tournament)
01. H Amla / L Thiramanne
02. B McCullum
03. V Kohli
04. K Sangakarra
05. A B de Villiers
06. S Smith / K Williamson
07. C Anderson / MS Dhoni
08. R Ashwin / D Vettori / S Al-Hasan
09. D Steyn
10. M Starc
11. T Southee / T Boult

12. M Ali / C Gayle / I Tahir etc etc etc

Shahid Afridi: 23 World Cup matches, 259 runs@12.33 and 28 wickets@23.1. Numbers are good enough to be a specialist bowler but really that is an abysmal record with the bat for somebody so talented.
