The review when it was clearly going down leg, the Lyon fumble, the plumb lbw not given.

Comedy of errors out there at the most crucial of times!!
Exactly, multiple errors, including from Australia.

One positive is that it should be a cracking series from here. Great for cricket.

Simply amazing. I could feel that finish coming after the deficit was under 50. I’ve seen some things in cricket that have been unbelievable but that has to be one of, if not, the best individual efforts to win a game.

Harris will be lucky to keep his spot next test and get back in the team ever again after his two errors (runout throwing to wrong end and drop catch).

Burning the review when we did was desperation, no one to blame but ourselves. Umpire errors are part of the game, but controlling the controllables in your own game is much more important. We got those very wrong today and have lost ourselves all of the momentum we’d gained after day 2. Will be very hard to come back from now, and I won’t be surprised if we get done 3-1.

It is feeling very similar to 2005.

- Win the first comfortably.
- Hang on for a tense draw (in the 2nd rather than the 3rd test)
- Missed the chance to go 2-0 in a thriller after a controversial umpiring decision (in the 3rd test rather than the 2nd)
- Lose a star player in unusual circumstances (McGrath / Smith)

Obvious difference is that the quality of the sides (especiallly the batting) is vastly inferior.

Only silver lining is that the series is still alive but it will be a tough ask on the Aussies to come back from that.

What a fantastic match, had it all. Haven't followed the cricket too much, but this Stokes fellow has this steely resolve and never gave his wicket away. Was like 3 runs from 70 balls, then steadily built his innings, only pulling his finger out when he started to lose partners. It was like a T20 final. Aussies missed a few chances, Hazlewood with 19 off 1 over was the icing on the cake, can't blame Harris for that missed chance. Lyon stuffed up the runout then reviews used badly, fielding positioning wasn’t great and no yorkers bowled. Should have a cracker next test with Smith returning, will the selectors keep Labuchagne? He's really done well, might replace Wade.

All I can say is thank god for the DRS otherwise the standard of umpiring in this series may have cost one of the teams a test match......oh wait.
Maybe there should be a limit on how many referrals can be made in AFL for touched. Now that would make it interesting.

Edit: touched or hit the post

or maybe don't waste them when they are clearly not out ?
Wholehearted agree and also maybe catch the ball on a simple run out. I am no umpire basher however the standard of umpiring this series is the worst I have ever seen.

Certainly agree about the umpiring , could get worse the next bloke from Sri Lanka has umpired 3 Tests.

I would be more worried about our bowling attack and how after bowling out a side for 67 they could not defend 359.

Looked very devoid of ideas and resorted to bowling short and wide.

Last half hour looked like Siddle was captaining the side more than Paine.

Interesting few days ahead working what to do with the batsmen , seriously hope Smith is ok.

Need to refresh and recharge quickly from having the Ashes in our hands , the momentum certainly is with England.
